Chennai: Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan, who has worked with R. Madhavan in Tamil drama “Anbesivam”, has wished the latter for his upcoming film “Saala Khadoos”, in which he plays a boxing coach. The trailer of “Saala Khadoos” was released on Tuesday. On the occasion, Madhavan paid tribute to Haasan, whom he considers his mentor. Haasan, however, said he doesn’t treat Madhavan as his protege, but as his friend.

“When I first cast Madhavan in a film I had written, his role was secondary to mine. We enjoyed working on the film. When everybody saw the film, they felt that the two roles were equal. That’s why I like Madhavan and that’s why he could’ve mistaken me for mentor,” Haasan said.Describing Madhavan as “hardworking”, Kamal said he deserves all the success he has been getting.

“From beefing up his body and thinking about the script, I can see he’s very passionate about the film. I also wondered how he’s going to play ‘khadoos’. I think he has to tuck away his smile away somewhere through the film,” he added. Kamal wished the entire team of “Saala Khadoos”, including its producer Rajkumar Hirani. Directed by debutante Sudha Kongara, the film features Madhavan in the lead role, as a boxing coach, who has a reputation of being a hard task-master.

Loafer Movie Review – 2.75/5

Story:

Murali (Posani) is a cheater who marries a rich girl (Revathi) eyeing her property. Later she comes to know about his intentions and refused to bring her share for her family. They fight with each other and Murali runs away to Jodhpur with his one year old son, Raja (Varun Tej). He raises Krishna as a Loafer.

Later Raja falls in love with Parijaatham/Mouni (Disha Patani) who escapes from her home as she does not like her arranged marriage proposal with Rich mining baron (Ali). Later this love leads Raja to his kother and some problems. What is the connection? How Raja manages to come out of the mess? is the rest.

Performances:

Varun Tej had come up with an improved performance in this film. His first tryst with mass genre, worked out well as Puri made full use of Varun – the actor. His performance in Suvi Suvvalamma song is very commendable. Disha Patani is good but the script do not offer much for her to perform.

Posani is good as a greedy and wicked father. Revathi is an excellent choice for the mother’s role. Mukesh Rishi gets a tailor made role. Rest of the actors like Ali, Brahmanandham, Sapthagiri are good.

Technical Performances:

The story line chosen by Puri Jagannadh is routine but still good but he faltered in giving a good screenplay especially for the second half. Puri had come up with some hard hitting dialogues. The first half is entertaining but second half is let off due to a bad screenplay. Direction work is also a mixed bag.

Sunil Kashyap come up with an average album. Suvi Suvvalamma is a show stealer. PG Vinda came up with good camera work, especially Jodhpur locales are shown well. SR Sekkhar, Puri’s regular editor disappointed this time, there are several needless portions that are left in the film. Art work is good and fights are impressive. Production Values are appropriate.

Plus Points:

  • Varun Tej as Raja (Mass Character Good)
  • Posani Krishnamurali and Revathi
  • Suvvi Suvvalamma Song

Minus Points:

  • Routine Story
  • Pathetic Second Half

Final Say:

Loafer has a mixed result for Varun Tej. He will impress the audience with his improved performance. But the movie as a whole is disappointing. As the second half in particular, is very routine, predictable and boring. It will be a okay fare if you go for it with out any expectations.

Two Mind Blowing Concepts For Film Makers

Share

1450284693-1189

In the recent times, films that are being made on realistic subjects are scoring huge hits. In Bollywood, some movies like No One Killed Jessica, Talvar and upcoming Airlift and Neeraja are being treated as films that hold a special place due to their content.

All these movies are weaved around shocking incidents that have shaken India. In Tollywood we have RGV touching such real stories through films like with Not A Love Story, The Attacks Of 26/11, Rakta Charitra and upcoming Killing Veerappan.

If any film makers of such calibre want to make movies, cine lovers think there are two powerful and mind blowing concepts. One happens to the be Salman Khan hit-and-run case, and next one is Andhra Pradesh’s call-money scam.

Needless to say, these cases involve high profile people, blood, sex and suspense, which could be blown onto celluloid. Though the cases need to get a proper ending at through judiciary and other systems, still cinema lovers opine that they make terrific stories on silver screen.

First Look: Sunil in Eedu Gold Ahey

Share

sunil

Comedian-turned-hero Sunil might be going a bit slow as two of his previous films haven’ fared well at the Box Office. Unfazed by their result, Sunil is doing his job as planned and leaving no stone unturned to continue as successful hero. The latest is that he signed another film as male lead.

Veerupotla, who directed films like Bindaas, Ragada and screen-writer for super hits Varsham & Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, will be directing this film. Billed to be an out-and-out hilarious film, it has been titled as ‘Eedu Gold Ahey’ (translates into He is Gold).

The movie will soon be going onto floors and it is being produced by Anil Sunkara’s father Rama Brahmam under AK Entertainments. If all goes as per plan, the film will release for Summer.

The film’s first look poster has been unveiled. Meanwhile, Sunil is presently working on Krishnastami which is directed by Vasu Varma whose maiden film Josh was a debacle. Dil Raju is producing the film. Sunil is pinning hopes on these two films to make a comeback.

Fear unites GOP in final debate

Share

trump_2659494f

As nine Republican presidential aspirants in their fifth and final debate scrabbled for the pole position ahead of primaries, most of them were united in pandering to the fear of Islamism that has gripped the U.S after the recent terror strikes in Paris and California. Candidates sought to mark their distinctiveness by claiming to be more effective than the others in dealing with the threat. They also took divergent positions on U.S interventions in West Asia, mass surveillance, immigration, Islam, military strategy and dealing with Russia in the debate that focused on national security and foreign policy. Several candidates thought the U.S.’s regime change interventions in West Asia have proven to be counterproductive and “secular dictators” were better for the world.

While former Florida governor Jeb Bush and Kentucky Senator Rand Paul were categorical in rejecting frontrunner Donald Trump’s call for a ban on non-citizen Muslims travelling to the U.S, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, Texas Senator Ted Cruz and Florida Senator Marco Rubio avoided a direct response on the question. Mr. Cruz even obliquely supported the proposal, pointing out that he had a similar proposal earlier, though “narrowly focused”, only on Muslims from trouble spots. Mr. Trump reiterated his proposal that has outraged a wide section of world opinion but found support among a substantial Republican segment and a section of the media. Mr. Trump claimed credit for attracting national attention on an issue that he said was being overlooked – Islamic radicalism.

Mr. Bush, who defended his brother and former president George W. Bush’s West Asia policy, which included coalitions with friendly Arabs, said: “If we push the Muslim world away, we can’t win this war.” In a largely scattered debate that did not bring the spotlight on any particular candidate, the more engaging and intense exchanges took place between Mr. Bush and Mr. Trump, and between Mr. Cruz and Mr. Rubio. Mr. Bush termed Mr. Trump a “chaos candidate”, who would make a “chaos president,” and Mr. Trump returned the favour by questioning Mr. Bush’s energy levels and declaring, “under him America would never be great again.” “We should have used the money that we spent on toppling dictators for domestic infrastructure,” said Mr. Trump. On the question of military strategy against IS, most candidates appeared supporting U.S ground intervention, though nobody articulated it in as many words.

Self-Driving Cars on California Roads

San Francisco: Ford said that it has a green light to test self-driving cars in California, and should have them on roads in the most populous US state next year. The carmaker officially enrolled in the California Autonomous Vehicle Testing Program and will begin with self-driving Ford Fusion Hybrid sedans, it said in a release yesterday.

Ford boasted having more than 100 researchers, engineers, and scientists working in its research center in the Silicon Valley city of Palo Alto. Ford researchers, who also collaborate with universities, specialize in technologies that help cars “see” or sense what is around them and safely navigate.

“Our Palo Alto team has grown significantly this year, using research and innovation to explore and develop future mobility solutions,” said Ford chief executive Mark Fields. Ford announced earlier this year that it was nearing a production phase for its first self-driving vehicle, without specifying a precise timeline.

At the Consumer Electronics Show in Law Vegas in January, Fields predicted fully autonomous cars would be on US roads by 2020, but declined to say whether his company would be among the first to market. Google has been testing self-driving cars on California roads for a while, and an array of automobile makers including Audi, Mercedes, Lexus, Tesla and BMW are working on building self-driving capabilities into vehicles.

Hot Actress Was Under Stress!

Mumbai: Actress Sonam Kapoor says she was under stress working in upcoming biopic “Neerja”, which is a story of a slain air hostess. The Ram Madhvani helmed biopic is on senior flight attendant Neerja Bhanot, who saved 360 lives on a Pan Am flight that was hijacked in Karachi in 1986. Bhanot became the youngest and first woman recipient of the prestigious Ashok Chakra Award, posthumously. “It was not emotionally draining. It is important that this story is told. It is about this girl, the youngest civilian who got Ashoka Chakra. She was a normal girl…She did bit of modelling. She had the courage to save the world,” Sonam said.

The “Khoobsurat” actress said she was stressed throughout the shooting in anticipation that whether she is doing justice with her role. “I hope I have done justice to it. I was stressed throughout the film hoping I have done best job possible. I feel the reason why this film was made is to recognise everyone that it doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from. “You have to be ordinary to do extra ordinary things and everybody has that in them. You need to have courage to do things.”

The 30-year-old actress revealed that there are quite a few similarities between her and Neerja. “My values with family, relationships, sensitivity, strong sense of ethics…I think the sense of right and wrong, young people need to see these values and have courage to do right things. This ordinary girl did extraordinary,” she said. With her last release “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” being a superhit, Sonam says the Rajshri Production film has given her a wider reach as an actor. “‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ has given me wider reach as it has gone into the heartland of India and people are loving the film. For me it is important as my next film (‘Neerja’). It is not about me, director and producer but about Neerja,” she said.

Varun, Plan Your Releases Properly!

Mega hero Varun Tej is slowly establishing himself in the Telugu industry with his good selection of stories and matured performances. But this hero is not able to plan the release dates of his films properly and vying with other heroes every time. When he made his debut with ‘Mukunda,’ Nithin’s ‘Chinnadana Neekosam’ was there in most of the theatres.

Few months back his second film ‘Kanche’ was released one week after ‘Bruce Lee’ and it also had movies like ‘Raju Gaari Gadhi’ and ‘Coloumbus’ releasing on the same day. Luckily none of the films except ‘Raaju Gaari Gadhi’ became a hit and ‘Kanche’ recovered its investments.

Now his ‘Loafer’ is releasing on December 17 and the very next day Dhanush’s ‘Navamanmadhudu’ is getting released. Also big films like SRK’s ‘Dilwale’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’ are getting released on December 18. After one week ‘Soukyam’ is going to release. So Varun is going to face tough competition this time again.

The person uploading the tweets has been tasked to inform seniors at PIB immediately about a crisis situation or negative feedback on social media about the tweets, for prompt corrective action.

Wrong: Jaya Prada’s Nephew, Not Son

Eighties actress and ex-MP Jaya Prada recently hugged and clicked lovely pictures with her one time arch rival Sridevi at her nephew’s wedding.

Most of the media that has covered this grand reunion of the Tohfa and Maqsad actresses kept writing that the two met at Jaya’s son’s wedding.

The fact is, the the groom is not her son, but her nephew. In 1986, Jayaprada tied the knot with the alreadymarried Marwari businessman Srikant Nahata, who had three children from his first marriage.

Jaya Prada doesn’t have kids, the picture above is with her nephew.

Sundar Pichai seem to have got it completely wrong!

Share

sundar_pichai_google1450322298

The CEO of Google, Sundar Pichai has written an open letter in support of Muslims. This was in response to Republican candidate Donald Trump’s recent statement calling for a ban on Muslims entering the United States. In a detailed post, he stated, “Let’s not let fear defeat our values. We must support Muslim and other minority communities in the US and around the world.”

Recalling his early days in the US, Pichai says, “It’s so disheartening to see the intolerant discourse playing out in the news these days, statements that our country would be a better place without the voices, ideas and the contributions of certain groups of people, based solely on where they come from, or their religion. After the Paris attacks and hate this week, I can only imagine the fear Muslims feel that they will be persecuted for the actions of others.”

Pichai cited his own company Google as an example. “Google is comprised of many employees from different races and cultures. But the difference brings beauty and uniqueness to the company and their workplace. Despite the difference, they are able to do great things that really count together.” Even Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said earlier this month that the Muslim community should not face discrimination following attacks in Paris and elsewhere linked to extremists.

Sundar Pichai and Zuckerberg seem to have got it completely wrong. They are speaking of intolerance to a nation that has elected a black gentleman as its president. Racial tensions have always existed on this planet but there is no other community that responds with violence and takes innocent lives in expressing their intentions. All Muslims are not terrorists and terrorism should be delinked from religion is a very catchy phrase in vogue. It is also politically correct. But why is it that terrorists always happen to belong to one particular religion? And there is hardly any condemnation of these attacks from the leaders in their own community.

When innocent people are gunned down ruthlessly in the streets in the name of religion, how can these gentlemen ensconced in the safety of their air-conditioned cabins and villas understand the trepidation of the common man in walking the streets freely? How can the common people guard themselves against an irrational religious terror? Has even a single fatwa been issued against the ISIS by the religious leaders of that community? No lives lost in the Mumbai carnage, September 11, the Paris attacks or the recent killings in America, are expendable. Only the families of the victims would understand what it means to lose their loved ones in such a manner.

When the streets are no longer safe, you don’t indulge in politically correct statements and populist gibberish. You do whatever it takes to protect your citizens. Because, prevention is better than cure. What would you rather have? A community that is aggrieved you’re your citizens safe or doing the politically correct thing and ending up with body bags? Therefore, Sundar Pichai and Zuckerberg are better advised to speak on the economy or the next big thing in technology rather than creating an identity for themselves through such populist endeavors in fields in which, they are obviously completely out of their depths.

The sudden demise of his father Satyamurthy has left music director Devi Sri Prasad in a shock. His mother, brother and he are grieving. Very attached to his father, DSP is even in more sorrow. So he may not be working for any movies till this month end at least.

Given this sad situation, the team of Nannaku Prematho has no other option but wait till Devi Sri Prasad comes to the recording studio to complete the background score of the movie. The question is will the movie make it to Sankranthi as lot of background score is yet to be composed. Even if DSP comes to the recording theatre after ten days, will he be able to finish it by January first week?

Until few days ago, there were reports that the movie was not going to be released for Sankranthi but very recently the producer announced officially that it would release on 13th January at any cost. To avoid the rumors that NTR is fearing to compete with his babayi Balakrishna, the producer was forced to make this announcement. The sudden demise of Satyamurthy has now put the team in dilemma about its release date.
