Only Chiru Attended To Pay Last Respect?

Share

chiru2

Probably this is not the right time to discuss, but the arguable question is if not now, then when? As the final rites of Devi Sri Prasad’s father, prominent writer Satyamurthy are performed yesterday evening in Chennai, his mortal remains are visited by various cinema celebs since afternoon.

While star heroes like Surya, Udayanidhi Stalin and other prominent Tamil stars paid their homage to DSP’s father in Chennai, it’s only Megastar Chiru who went all the way to Chennai to pay last respects, other than heroine Charmi.

Surprisingly those who call DSP as a ‘bro’ and speak volumes about him during their audio launches are nowhere in the hindsight. Chennai is not far from Hyderabad nor poorly connected city, and still we didn’t find any Telugu star reaching there.

If Chiru has respect for Satyamurthy garu as his story writer for Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, then others who got catchy songs from DSP should also have similar respect. Because these celebs know the secret that it is DSP’s father who coins such catchy phrases in his son’s songs.

CBI Raids CM’s Office

This morning, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took to his Twitter and alleged that the CBI raided his office and even sealed it after looking into some crucial files on his table. Not stopping here, the furious AAP President launched a direct attack on PM Narendra Modi, calling him a “coward and psychopath”.

Lambasting Modi, Kejriwal tweeted, “When Modi cudn’t handle me politically, he resorts to this cowardice.” However, CBI denied a raid or sealing Kejriwal’s office and said that they were only searching the office of Kejriwal’s Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar, who was caught taking bribe last week.

Kejriwal refused to accept CBI’s claims and said, “CBI lying. My own office raided. Files of CM office are being looked into. Let Modi say which file he wants?” Raids are still on going on at the CM’s office on the 3rd floor.

AAP sources allege that CBI refused to give any reason behind the raid. Ever since the Kejriwal-led AAP trounced the BJP in the Assembly elections in February, the PM and Kejriwal have been at loggerheads. Their feud split wide open following Kejriwal’s support to the Nitish Kumar and his allies in Bihar elections.

Centre Gives Only 28 Crore for Amaravati

In a move that attracts ire and flak, the Union Tourism & Culture Ministry has allotted as less as Rs 28 Crore for Amaravati, the new capital city of Andhra Pradesh. When Kothapalli MP Geetha and others raised questions, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Tourism and Culture Mahesh Sharma has given a reply in written in Lok Sabha on Monday.

He ‘proudly’ replied that the government included Amaravati into ‘Prasad’ scheme launched by the ministry and allotted Rs 28 Crore in this financial year. So, the Tourism and Culture minister in written itself made it clear that Amaravati won’t be getting more than this amount from his ministry for this year.

What baffles many is that what can State government could do with this as low as Rs 28 Crore to attract tourists and preserving the culture, heritage in the new capital city which is already in neck-deep financial woes and the state itself is going through an acute financial crunch.

For any state, the tourism is one of the important revenue generation sources and it is something one can’t compromise. Given that already the truncated state lost its capital to Telangana and starting all from its scratch, Centre should have considered AP and Amaravati as special case.

At a time AP CM Chandrababu Naidu is envisioning to make it as world-class capital city and make it as tourist hub, the so called ’28 Crore’ funds from Centre is definitely evoking laughs.

Is this the reward for AP people for supporting Narendra Modi in general elections? And it’s time for both Naidus (Mr Chandrababu Naidu, Mr Venkaiah Naidu) too take these seriously. Else people have to pay hefty price for this.

Arresting Hit!! In Which Angle?

shankarabaranam

Going by the tweets of Kona Venkat, we have to believe that “Shankarabaranam” is a super hit, as he claims that the film is now getting remade in Kannada. And coming to latest promotions of the film, this Nikhil-Nandita starrer is being referred as “Arresting Hit”.

The very question that comes to our mind is, whom does Kona Venkat arrested with his film? Trade sources confirmed that in all regions, Shankarabaranam is going to end up as a huge loss venture provided with the fact that the film is sold for high rates.

Even audiences rated the film below par as they felt that the film is run-of-mill bore treat. With Bengal Tiger winning over all these routing sagas, Kona Venkat’s creation lost more ground.

So, in which angle we should call it arresting hit? To make remake rights work, maybe Kona is busy giving such a color and luckily it worked out for Sandalwood.

New Zealand picks new Flag design

New Zealanders chose a new flag design on Tuesday but the question now is whether enough people will rally behind it to oust the current flag.

Final results from a postal ballot were announced. The winning design features a silver fern and red stars on a black and blue background. The new design will now go head-to-head against the current flag in a national vote in March.

The winning design has similarities to the current flag but ditches the British Union Jack in favour of the fern, which has become a national symbol and is worn by many sports teams, including the beloved All Blacks rugby team.

New Zealanders earlier submitted more than 10,000 designs as they contemplated a change in their national symbol.

Le Pen party thwarted in regional vote

Share

France’s far-right Front National, led by Marine Le Pen, has failed to win control of any regions in the final round of local elections despite a historically high score in the first-round when it was ranked as the most popular party in France.

The defeat of the FN was down to mass tactical voting, an increase in turnout and warnings by the left that what it called the “anti-semitic and racist” party would bring France to its knees. All this combined to stop the FN translating its huge first-round score of nearly 28 per cent into the overall control of any region.

But the Socialist Prime Minister, Manuel Valls, deliberately avoided any triumphalism and did not claim that the steady rise of the far-right party had been definitively stopped.

“Tonight there is no relief, no triumphalism, no message of victory,” he said. “The danger of the far right has not been removed — far from it — and I won’t forget the results of the first round and of past elections.” He said it was now the government’s duty to “listen more to the French people” and “to act in a stronger, faster way” particularly on employment in a country with record joblessness.

Exit polls on Sunday night showed that with less than 18 months to go until the next French presidential election, the nationalist, anti-immigration, anti-European FN still gained hundreds of regional councillors across France.

Tech to help animals ‘talk’

Share

download_51

“What would the world be like if dogs could talk to us?” asks Melody Jackson, “and not just our pet dogs, but working dogs, police dogs, search and rescue dogs, medical alert dogs?” Jackson isn’t pitching an idea for the next Pixar movie—rather, she’s a computer scientist at Georgia Tech who’s developing innovative new ways for animals to communicate using technology.

Jackson believes that communication technologies can be developed specifically for different kinds of animals. According to Wired, she has already built special computerised vests for service dogs, “so that in an emergency they can find another human and pull a mechanical lever on the vest that triggers an audio message: My handler needs you to come with me!” Service dogs, according to Jackson, perform a range of sophisticated and complex tasks—from identifying explosives by scent to guiding deaf people to the source of a sound — but are unable to communicate the full range of their knowledge. So, Jackson wants to give the dogs a way to communicate more nuanced information—like explosive types and danger levels—with special wearable electronics. It makes sense that much of the initial research in animal-computer interaction has focused on dogs — they’re social animals with a level of language understanding.

But, according to Wired, researchers are also developing systems that will help humans communicate with dolphins, sensors that monitor the well-being of animals, and even cat-human video games.
