Young talent Raj Tarun is now on Cloud Nine with hat-trick hits. This actor is now making films at a very fast pace. Recently, he released the trailer of his upcoming film ‘Seetamma Andaalu-Ramayya Sitralu’ and planning it to release it by the end of January. The interesting thing is his films are titled by a hit numbers of other films.

His first film was titled ‘Uyyala Jampala’ which was a common childhood song which is very familiar. Then he named his 2nd film as ‘Cinema Choopista Maava’ which is a super hit song from Allu Arjun’s ‘Race Gurram’. Then his third film was an exception. Now his next film is titled by taking a line from the old film ‘Shuba Sankalpam’.

In this way, Raj Tarun is naming his films after super hit songs. This helps in bringing publicity for the film as it is already a familiar word and the people are used to it. Now he signed another two films which will be started soon and we have to see whether he follows the same pattern of naming song lyrics as titles or not.

Although his last movie Kick 2 was a commercial failure, Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja’s latest entertainer Bengal Tiger opened to record collections. Despite mixed reports, the film collections were steady for first and second shows in most of the centers on day one.

Trade reports predict that, even with limited release the first day collections will be more to Kick 2, compared to the grand release of Surender Reddy’s directorial. Kick 2 reportedly collected a share of Rs 5.75 crore on its first day.

And as per sources Bengal Tiger might have crossed the 6 crores figure. The Sampath Nandi directed picture was bit weak in ‘A’ centers, but it was exceptional in mass centers. Usually, films released on Thursday will get fewer openings since it is a working day and last two shows collections are dependant of film’s talk.

Interestingly, Bengal Tiger managed to seize record collections for the last shows too. Nonetheless, Bengal Tiger’s fate will depend on how the movie will perform from Monday. And result of Varun Tej’s Loafer that is releasing next week, will also affect Bengal Tiger collections, since this Puri Jagannath directorial is also targeted at mass audiences.

In the run-up to the most-anticipated Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, ‘publicity hungry’ TRS is going all out to promote his leader and his policies, government schemes. In an attempt to elevate their leader and CM KCR, the party has put hoardings across the city. However, the erred publicity has gone wrong leaving KCR fall in his own pit.

According to reports, the photos of beneficiaries used by the Telangana government are not from here. The TRS reportedly lifted the photos of beneficiaries from the internet and passed them as its beneficiaries to impress the citizens of Hyderabad. This random lifting of photos was not just limited to hoardings alone. They’re also being used in the party’s social networking campaign.

On its Facebook page ‘TRS Party Official’, the party has several such pictures including those of the hoardings. On the TRS Facebook page, there’s a photo of a farmer with a happy smile along with helpline numbers. But he is not from Telangana.

The picture has been lifted from www.trekearth.com, and its tagline states Coimbatore. It may be recalled that the TRS government is under the wrath of farmers as scores of farmers in the state committed suicides ever since the party came to power.

Paris climate talks go into overtime

Share

CLIMATE_COUNTDOWN-_2652581f

The climate talks in Paris went into overtime on Thursday night, as countries hit a hurdle on three major issues — the differentiation between developed and developing nations, financial arrangements for the developing world and the ambition for a global temperature target. A new draft was released by the French presidency of the conference. The new near-final outcome text controversially has two options on meeting loss and damage needs of developing nations. One is a general provision that talks of the averting, minimising and addressing it, and another, more detailed, excludes any regime of liability and compensation. The second provides countries help with risk assessment, risk management, insurance, help to relocate those displaced by climate event change.

If accepted, such a provision would deal a blow to small island states and coastal countries that experience more intense weather events such as the Chennai floods, since changes to climate are attributed to the historical stock of greenhouse gases emitted after the industrial revolution by Western nations. The civil society organisation ActionAid said, “By including a clause for no future claim of compensation and liability, the U.S. has ensured people suffering from the disastrous impacts of climate change will never be able to seek the justice owed to them. This unfair and unjust draft deal won’t face up to the realities of climate change and will only serve to widen the chasm between rich and poor. Rich countries have a responsibility to ensure a fair global deal for everyone, not just themselves, and as we move into these final hours of negotiations poorer countries must not settle for anything less.”

An attempt is also seen to subsume the existing mechanism to handle loss and damage, called the Warsaw Mechanism, by creating a new one that will draw upon it and build further. Countries would also include climate considerations including the building of resilience, into international development assistance. On transparency, there is a provision for review of the implementation of national pledges, the INDCs through a thorough, objective and comprehensive technical assessment. However the major issues found no accord, despite the 195 member countries in the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change holding a full 24 hours of intense discussions on Wednesday’s agreement draft, overnight. On Thursday evening, the French Foreign Minister, Laurent Fabius said a further night of “indaba” discussions would be needed with the help of facilitators in small groups. The sole idea of talks would now be to find solutions to the problems. The COP21 president, Mr. Fabius’s proposal on the “decision” arrived at by the Conference of the Parties in Paris, which will guide the the Agreement itself, has several interesting features.

The preamble has a specific reference to climate change being an urgent and potentially irreversible threat to the human species and the planet, requiring the widest possible cooperation among countries and an international response to accelerate the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. This acknowledges the international campaign by several organisations demanding that the agreement acknowledge the scientific evidence that underpins it. INDCs fall short National pledges made by countries as INDCs find a distinct place in this proposal. The section on INDCs notes with concern that the aggregate of these pledges in 2025 and 2030 are not likely to hold temperature rise to below 2 degrees C, and much greater effort will be needed after 2030 to keep it under 2°C or 1.5°C compared to pre-industrial levels.

A global stock taking exercise [which emerging countries would have to prepare for intensively from the current year] is proposed for 2019 to assess the progress towards realising the long-term ambition for temperature rise. Also the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the scientific body whose Assessment Reports inform the decisions of the UNFCCC, has been asked to prepare a technical report in 2018 on the impacts of a 1.5°C warming, as well as the related greenhouse gas emission pathways. If the provision on periodic review is incorporated finally, India would have to provide an updated INDC in 2020, and submit it next pledge by 2025, as a five-yearly cycle is prescribed and get it reviewed for clarity and transparency well in advance.

Report: Artificial intelligence to replace smartphones by 2021

ARTIFICIAL-INTELLIGENCE_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0

Mumbai: A survey conducted by Ericsson owned ConsumerLab, as part of its fifth annual report on consumer trends, indicated that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will replace smartphones in the next five years. The Sweden-based communication technology provider questioned more than 100,000 consumers across 40 countries, enquiring their views on the future of technology. Interestingly, one in two smartphone users who took part in the survey favoured AI interfaces over devices with screens. According to the report, AI would enable interaction with objects without the need for a smartphone screen, which can greatly reduce human effort. Additionally, established companies in every sector are heavily investing on AI technologies to develop futuristic cars, computers, home appliances and even personal assistants.

Michael Björn, Head of Research, Ericsson ConsumerLab, said, “Some of these trends may seem futuristic. But consumer interest in new interaction paradigms such as AI and virtual reality (VR), as well as in embedding the internet in the walls of homes or even in our bodies, is quite strong.” “This means we could soon see new consumer product categories appearing – and whole industries transforming – to accommodate this development.” he added. Users’ view on AI technology The report said: “After 60 years in the screen age, 1 in 2 smartphones users now think that smartphones will be a thing of the past, and that this will happen in just 5 years.” Two prime reasons for the emergence of AI, as cited by the report, can be accounted to the battery and screen size in smartphones. It said: “Our research indicates that 31 per cent of smartphone users want a 7−8 inch screen and another 30 per cent want a 6 inch screen, while 78 per cent want to worry less about the battery dying.”

“The contradictory demands for power-draining larger screens and a longer battery life however, highlight a need for better solutions, such as the use of intelligent assistants to reduce the need to always touch a screen,” the report added. Additionally, 85 per cent of smartphone users think that wearable electronic assistants will also become common in the next five years. The study also found out that one in two people want hope to interact with household appliances, which is only possible via AI interfaces.

“Smartphone users believe AI will take over many common activities, such as searching the net, getting travel guidance and as personal assistants. These are areas already being addressed by current generation AI interfaces in smartphones.” Around 44 per cent participants indicated that AI systems would be good teachers while one third would like an AI interface to keep them company. Around 29 per cent even agreed that they would feel more comfortable discussing their medical condition with an AI system.
