Kona Got Balayya Fans Shivering

Share

kona

Being hailed as Tollywood’s top writer, Kona Venkat penned stories for ultra high budget entertainer Bruce Lee and gave dialogues and screenplay inputs for Akhil, also Kona penned the screenplay for horror-thriller Tripura and also written and produced the Friday release Shankarabharanam. In fact, Kona even gave himself the credit for ‘direction supervision’ in Shankarabharanam.

Now, all the 4 films released within a gap of less than two months and bombed heavily at the box-office. This got Kona’s brand value and reputation as a successful writer at a huge stake. Now, Kona’s back-to-back flops have got Balayya’s fans shivering. And the reason is the Sankranthi release Dictator, which has been penned by Kona Venkat.

During Shankarabharanam promotional interviews, Kona claimed that he will prove Tollywood that he can also write new-age scripts without using the done to death ‘making villains bakra’ plot. But Kona skipped his promise and used the same old plot for Shankarabharanam and critics panned him for such a routine screenplay for an interesting plot.

Now, Balayya fans are highly worried that Kona might have used the same routine template even for Dictator, which might push Dictator to a corner. Kona’s back-to-back disasters will also show a negative impact on the pre-release business of Dictator and Gopichand’s Soukhyam, opine the trade analysts.

Dream of being a bird?

Cambridge: With a few flaps of his arms, Kip Fenton soared into the New York City skyline, veering around a sea of skyscrapers as the wind whistled in his ears. Then, all too soon, the goggles came off and he was back in a bright white room near Boston, no longer a bird but a 59-year-old software developer in blue jeans and a green plaid shirt. Outside a tall window, a man with a cellphone stopped to snap a photo of Fenton and the odd contraption that had given him the sense of flight. “I’ve always wanted to fly,” said Fenton. “It’s sort of one of those fantasy things where, if I could be an animal, I would be a bird.” The human fascination with flight is what inspired Max Rheiner, a Swiss artist and scholar, to invent the flight simulator that Fenton tested on Thursday. Called Birdly, the prototype is being exhibited through Saturday at Le Laboratoire, a small art and design center tucked in Cambridge’s sprawling technology hub.”Birdly is actually the dream of flying come true,” said Rheiner, who has been taking his invention around the world since the summer of 2014.

It looks like a futuristic examination table with wings. Users climb on, belly down, and stretch their arms out to either side, resting their palms flat against tilting boards that act as the flight feathers. After they slip on a set of headphones and virtual reality goggles, the machine tilts forward to bring their legs farther off the ground.Suddenly, the goggles fill up with a bird’s eye view of Manhattan and everything is moving. During his test run, Fenton rotated his palms upward to climb toward the sky, the whole machine tilting his body upward, and then he reversed the motion to take a downward dive. To speed up, he flapped his long arms over and over. The whole time, a nearby fan rustled his hair, and the sound of wind whirred in the headphones. When he turned his head, he had a sweeping view of the entire horizon. “That was great. I loved it,” he said afterward. “The turning and the diving was all pretty straightforward.” Because there’s no way to know how a bird feels in flight, Rheiner and his team tried to replicate human dreams of flying.

Is Hyderabad Air Safe?

Share

hyderabad

With the ever growing industries and construction of high-rises, the air pollution in Hyderabad is increasing at alarming levels. In the latest Air Quality Index recorded by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) at 4 pm on Thursday, Hyderabad’s AQI has been proved to be ‘satisfactory’ with the city’s AQI being 91.

However, the pollution levels keep varying from day to day and from satisfactory to moderate. Environmental experts opine that Hyderabad’s air still poses certain dangers to older people, infants and kids and those with chronic breathing related diseases like Asthma and may even aggravate heart diseases.

Hyderabad’s air is polluted by a deadly mixture of Sulphur Dioxide and fine Particulate Matter (PM2.5). In a consolation, Hyderabad’s pollution is several levels lesser compared to some major Indian cities like Delhi (321 – Very Poor), Mumbai (126 – Moderate), Pune (211 – Poor) and Varanasi (302 – Very Poor) etc. Surprisingly, the IT city Bengaluru recorded the lowest level of pollution with (59 – Satisfactory).

No More Baahubali And Rudramadevi!!!

Share

bahubali

Baahubali is the biggest budgeted Telugu film ever, while Rudramadevi is a film made on history after long time. Leaving their whims and fancies as giants aside, both these films had a fair share of hurting other small budgeted films in the race, because of their clarity-less planning over the release date.

Without confirming that July 10th is their date, Baahubali has looked at various slots from April thereby confusing many other films like Vishnu’s Dynamite and Mahesh’s Srimanthudu which are aiming at some dates. And then, Rudramadevi is the baap of all postponements as a new date was announced almost four times due to some issues related to financial stuff.

If their personal reasons for postponements are justified, what about the domino effect of these release date miss-outs? Films like Shankarabaranam got postponed for nearly 2-3 months due to Rudrama’s bad planning. As these biggies didn’t declared their release date firmly, other small films are confused when to start their promotions. By the time small films kick-started their promotion, fixing particular date, these biggies suddenly joined the race by postponing their dates.

Except Bruce Lee that got fixed on October 16th as their date nearly 4 months in advance, all other biggies juggled their dates upsetting other films. How to tackle this issue anyway? Can small film makers feel a touch of security by laying strict conditions over release dates for biggies? Maybe it’s possible. In Bollywood and Kollywood as well, films bigs or small, have to fix their date two months in advance and will not be allowed to defer it by a week or two.

If they miss the date, they need to wait for a month in Chennai, while 2-3 months in Hindi arena. Telugu producers are now planning to bring same rule into existence for Tollywood with effective from January 1st, 2016. Also if someone want release date change, next possible date should be picked only after leaving four Fridays. So, there will not be a chance of freehand to films like Baahubali and Rudramadevi to alter their release dates as per their comfort and choice.

Chennai Floods: When Reel Heroes Became Real Heroes

Chennai: With Tamil Nadu reeling under the worst floods to hit the state in a century and with rescue operations getting underway, actors Siddharth and RJ Balaji, popular among Tamil audiences, turned out to help the people. Siddharth was one of the victims of the rains. His house in the city was submerged, but that didn’t stop him from stepping out and helping those in need. Along with Balaji, who is also a popular radio jockey, the “Rang De Basanti” star formed teams to help stranded people in different parts of the city. People came forward and lent their cars which were used to rescue people from the flooded areas. Siddharth was soon joined by actors Vishnu Vishal, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Karthi, Khushbu Sundar and Vishal Krishna Reddy. Popular multiplexes like SPI Cinemas and AGS Cinemas opened their doors to offer shelter. The two-member team grew bigger with the support of many volunteers, mostly from the common people. “It was heartening to see Siddharth and Balaji come out and help people. We were touched by their gesture and thus wanted to help too,” Ram Kumar, who joined Siddharth and his team of volunteers, told IANS. The teams went around the city collecting food packets, 50 to 100 per batch, and other essentials and getting them delivered to people. Those who couldn’t come out and volunteer were requested to send donations to Chennai Micro Fund trust, which was used to carry out relief work.

Social media played a pivotal role in this movement, helping the city to get back on its feet. Rescue and relief operations were carried out with the help of Twitter. Since most telecommunication networks took a hit due to the heavy downpour, people used the social media platform to reach out to one another.  From updating people about the situation on the ground to tracking somebody’s whereabouts with the website chennairains.org collating all information, social media played a big role. Support also came from maestro Ilayaraja who, on learning that the Little Flower Convent catering to visually challenged, deaf and mute children was under four feet of water, immediately paid them a visit. The 72-year-old insisted on meeting the children, despite being warned of the high water level. With life yet to return to normal in the state, these stars continue to work round-the-clock doing their bit to help those in need.
