Man who immolates for special status to Andhra dies
Hyderabad: A man who had set himself ablaze in August over the denial of special category status to Andhra Pradesh died at a hospital on Friday in Eluru, police said.S. Durga Prasad, 49, a resident of Unguturu in West Godavari district, poured petrol and set himself afire on August 24 as he was allegedly depressed over the state not receiving special status.
He sustained critical burn injuries and since then treated at various hospitals in Andhra Pradesh and also in Hyderabad. However, there was no improvement in his condition and on Friday he died at a hospital in Eluru town in West Godavari district. At least five people in different parts of Andhra Pradesh have committed suicide over the issue.
The series of suicides began with a Congress worker torching himself at a public meeting in Tirupati on August 8. A couple of them in their suicide notes said they were hopeful of getting jobs and other benefits and since the central government has declined to provide special status to the state, all their hopes were dashed.
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led government had appealed to people not to become emotional and commit suicides over the issue. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu advised people to have patience and assured them that his government is doing its best to get the special status.
Overseas Talk: Akhil Confirmed The Date
After getting postponed from October 22nd, “Akhil” is completely out of news. There is a reason because fans went berserk from the moment the postponement is announced. Despite Nagarjuna and Nitin appealing to them about the unprecedented Computer Graphics issue, they have never listened. So, what’s the new date of Akhil’s debut film?
From a long time it’s doing rounds that Akhil will release on 11th November on the eve of Diwali. However, there is no such talk confirming the news. We’ve come to know from few Overseas distributors that indeed “Akhil” is arriving for 11th. Already premiere shows are also confirmed for 10th evening and night. King Nagarjuna will be soon announcing this release date to the audiences in a special press meet.
Actually Nagarjuna is said to be scared by “Damarukam” experiences where he has held press meets and announced dates twice but the film never made to theatres. At one such press meet, Nag has even broke down a little, because that’s first time in his career where his word failed to stand. He doesn’t want such mistakes repeated with Akhil. Once the Censoring is done and hard drives exported, maybe Nag will announce the date.
How About Roti, Kapda And Makaan?
There is a famous fictional quote attributed to Mary Antoinette, the erstwhile queen of France. Upon hearing that the people had no bread to eat, she remarked, “Let them eat cake.” The hapless queen along with her husband was guillotined in 1793.But surely, history does have a tendency to repeat itself, judging by the remarks of AP CM, Chandrababu Naidu.
He directed the officials to speed up the process to provide internet, telephone and television services to every home in Andhra Pradesh by March next year. It would have pleased the people of the State more if he were to direct officials to ensure that everyone in the state first had access to food, clothing and shelter.
Or if he had given the command to expedite the fulfillment of his election promises like loan waiver for farmers (which has turned out to be a total sham), unemployment fund for graduates etc. What would a farmer deprived of his land and livelihood and facing pressure from the banks do with an internet connection? Or how is television going to help an unemployed graduate?
Get your priorities right Mr. Naidu! People expect you to deliver on your election promises. Fulfill at least 10% of those and the state will be better off.
Talk: Hero’s Title Sentiment
Villain-turned-hero Gopichand has a great sentiment for the titles of his movies. The actor seems to have special fetish for the titles that end with ‘zero’ in Telugu. The titles of Gopi’s previous films include Jayam, Varsham, Yagnam, Lakshyam, Souryam, Loukyam. And it’s no surprise that his upcoming film has been titled as Soukyam which is being directed by AS Ravi Kumar Chowdhary who earlier directed Gopi in Yagnam.
Now that both Ravi Kumar (after Sai Dharam Tej’s Pilla Nuvvu Leni Jeevitham) and Gopichand (Loukyam) are in good form , expectations on Soukyam are high. Regina Cassandra is playing Gopi’s romantic interest. Currently, the makers are canning songs on the lead pair in the abroad.
Billed to be an action entertainer laced with good dose of comedy, it’s heard that the film also has high emotional scenes. It’s heard that producer is planning to release the film on December 25th on the eve of Christmas. Let’s wait and see whether Gopi’s sentiment for title work in favour of the film or not.
Nani Will Do Manirathnam’s Film
It was highly rumoured that young hero Nani backed out of South top director Manirathnam’s film. In fact, the movie, which was supposed to be launched long back, has been being postponed by its makers due to unknown reasons and so are the gossips against Nani.
However, sources close to the makers have revealed that Nani has not opted out of the romantic entertainer and the project will be on. Nani too, is eagerly waiting to work with the legendary director. Earlier Dilquer was supposed to be roped in as the lead star of this Telugu-Tamil bilingual. Later, he was replaced by Nani.
Nani’s ‘Bhale Bhale Magadivoi’ has stood as the biggest hit in Nani’s career and it was one of the blockbusters among this year’s releases. Lavanya Tripathi has played the female lead of the movie. The movie’s music was scored by Gopi Sunder. Maruthi has directed the movie in this Bunny Vas’ production venture.
Salman Suggested Charan Not To Act As A Hero?
Released in 2013, Ram Charan’s Bollywood debut Zanzeer tanked miserably and left a bad memory for the Mega Power Star and Mega fans. Even though Charan was supposed to act in Ashutosh Gowariker’s Mohenjo Daro, the combination didn’t work out and the film later went in Hrithik’s hands. Apparently, Charan’s big brother Salman Khan suggested Charan against acting in a solo Bollywood film soon.
Now, latest buzz reveals that Charan is all set to make a Bollywood comeback with the remake of Tamil blockbuster Thani Oruvan, which stars Salman Khan in the main lead. Apparently, Salman will be playing Jayam Ravi’s role while Charan will reprise Arvind Swamy’s role. This way, Charan can again make his presence felt in Bollywood, without the burden of being a solo hero.
However, Charan is not bothered with Zanzeer’s flop. Speaking to a popular Bollywood portal, Charan said, “I am certainly not put off by the failure of Zanzeer. In fact, I’ll be doing another Hindi film very soon. Once experience can’t put me off Bollywood for a lifetime.” If everything falls into place, the remake will kick start in 2016.
Nag, Venky In Chai’s Majnu?
The Telugu official remake of Malayalam industry hit Premam, Majnu, is making a lot of noises even before it is commenced in the second week of November. Firstly, it was the film’s female cast, which had names from Malayalam to Bollywood. And then, it was Victory Venkatesh’s special cameo in the film. Apparently, Venky will be playing Naga Chaitanya’s uncle in the film.
Now, the latest buzz is that Nagarjuna too will be making a special appearance in Majnu. However, the unit is still undecided about Nag’s role in the film but is sure that he will be seen along with Chai in a scene. If this buzz indeed turns out to be true, this will be the first time that Nag and Venky will be appearing together in one film.
Majnu is a coming of age story and the film showcases three different love stories of a man in various stages of his life. Thus, the film features three heroines and Anupama Parameswaran, who played a crucial role in Premam, has been roped in to reprise the same role. Also, Shruti Haasan has been confirmed as one of the other two heroines and the unit is yet to finalize the third heroine.
