Bruce Lee Movie Review – 3/5
Story:
Karthi (Ram Charan) and his sister (Kriti Kharbhanda) are merit students. But their father’s (Rao Ramesh) middle class income could not fund both their education. Karthi underperforms in his academics to support his sister’s dream of becoming an IAS. They grow up and when she was to take the final examination, meets up with a big problem. Rest of the story is all about how Karthi solves it.
Performances:
Ram Charan appears in a double shade character. He looks good as a cop and performed well in the emotional scenes just before the interval. He had put in lot of hardwork in dances and fights. He also did some good work in comedy too (That elagelaga dialogue and teasing scenes with dad). Its great to see Megastar Chiranjeevi dazzle in a little cameo after a long time. The dialogue ‘Just time gap. Timing lo gap vundadu’ is an apt fit.
Rakul Preet Singh is cute and she danced really well. Kriti Kharbhanda does well as sister. Nadiya and Rao Ramesh are good in important roles. Sampath Raj and Arun Vijay are neat as baddies. Jayaprakash Reddy and Brahmi managed few laughs while Vennela Kishore is not used well. Tisca Chopra is seen in a vital role while Posani and Prithvi are okay.
Technical Performances:
Bruce Lee is an emotional family drama where in brother tries to protect his sister without his father’s knowledge. There are few heart touching scenes here and there. Srinu Vaitla despite having a fleet of comedians, failed to entertain in the second half which goes on seriously. Even the screenplay is not good in the second half. However the buildup to the interval and the twist are impressive.
All the songs were shot well and Charan’s dances took most of them to the next level. Rerecording is one of the best from Thaman in the recent times. Manoj Paramahamsa’s camera work is superb. Dialogues penned by Kona Venkat are good while ANL Arasu’s action choreography is impressive. Editing by MR Verma should have been better in the second half.

Final Say:
Bruce Lee ends up as an average family entertainer. The predictable story further kills with poor narration in the second half. Until Megastar’s cameo, every thing goes lifelessly. If not for the heart warming, things would have been even worse. At the end, it ends up as a decent entertainer.
Akhil out of Dussehra race!
Akhil – The Power of Jua is not releasing for Dussehra as planned earlier. The makers a short while ago announced that the delay in post production works have resulted in postponing their film.
While they did not announce the release date, it is said that Akhil will now be releasing on November 6th, the date which was earlier planned for Kanche. The Varun Tej starrer will be advanced to October 22nd now.
Lack of good number of theaters for Vijaya Dasami is the main reason for Akhil postponement. However the fewer theaters available are quite enough for Kanche. So the date swapping happened.

Akhil Postponed, Huge Advantage for Ram Charan
As expected, Akhil Akkineni’s much-awaited debut Akhil has been postponed. The movie which was scheduled to release on Oct 22nd on the eve of Dasara is not releasing as planned. Latest reports confirmed that the film has been deferred and a fresh release date is yet to be fixed.
Featuring Akhil, Sayeesha Saigal in the lead roles, the socio-fantasy is directed by VV Vinayak. Since the film marks the launch of scion of Nagarjuna and Amala Akkineni, expectations on the film are way too high.
Apparently, the makers failed to promote the film on par with other big-ticket films. Unhappy with the film’s promotions, Nag reportedly insisted the producers to defer the film for now and asked them to release it with grand promotions.
Since Ram Charan’s Bruce Lee too is releasing on Oct 16 for Dasara, in order to avoid a Box Office clash, makers of Akhil decided to go back. This is touted as big advantage for Ram Charan’s Bruce Lee as it’s solo release for this big festival.
Who Is Behind IT Raids On Bruce Lee?
Early this month when the producers and hero of Tamil “Puli” are raided by Income Tax department sleuths, there was a buzz in Kollywood that the raids are politically motivated. Given that Vijay has recently expressed interest towards a political party, these rumours sounded very true.
What about “Bruce Lee” now? Ever since the news of IT Raids on “Bruce Lee” is out, there is a section of fans accusing that the raids of intentionally designed. They say, some people wanted to hold the release of “Bruce Lee” for a week and hence they have used their clout to provoke IT officials by sending them wrong reports.
A couple of big names are also doing rounds, but provided with the ‘power’ those names and Chiranjeevi are having, we could say that none could exercise power to instrument an IT raid. But still, raids will not be holding any good if they are to stop the release.
‘Already all the finances are cleared and the film being none other than Ram Charan’s, no investor or any old distributor will not make it an issue for money now. Also the whole release finance things are cleared two days back by Dil Raju and Danayya’, says a source, from the producer’s office.
