Writer Gimmick For Film Offer

The film industry is considered to be a haven for those who are creative and talented and it is also the hotbed for some out of the box ideas. While this may be the conventional side, there is also an unconventional side. There are many instances in the cine circuit wherein projects keep taking different twists and turns. Today, the situation is such that you are not even sure about a film till it enters the theatres.

The Tollywood circuit which was once a very orthodox and disciplined industry has also come under the influence and many cases happen here as well. Here is one such ironical example. Recently, a talented writer cum director brought a story to one producer and the producer liked it. As for the remuneration, the producer said “Let the shooting commence I will give when it is happening.”

In between, the shooting stopped due to lack of funds and after waiting for a long time, the writer decided to discuss it with someone else. But to his surprise, the producer is saying no citing “It has not worked for you or us so it won’t work for anyone.” This became an issue and the writer was in a major emotional turmoil and stress for a long time. But he didn’t give up his efforts and wanted a way out.

At that point, one of his friends advised the writer to slightly change the title and change the story and its character names a little. The writer did that and approached another producer. The result is, the producer approved this and the deal is almost getting finalized. Such type of gimmicks and unusual things keep happening and at the end of it all, you can only realize one thing, cinema is all about stroke of luck and fate.

Actors Aamir Khan, Shabana Azmi, music composer AR Rahman,  business tycoon Azim Premji, parliamentarians Asaduddin Owaisi, Badruddin Ajmal, Hurriyat leader Dr Umar Farooq and several other Indians were listed among World’s 500 Most Influential Muslims.

The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre (RISSC), an international non-governmental institute based in Amman, Jordan, has brought out “The Muslim 500: The World’s 500 Most Influential Muslims” 2016 edition in which 22 Indians were featured.

Given the fact that India is home to the world’s second largest Muslim population, after Indonesia (which ranks first) and total Muslim population is accounted for 14.2 per cent (or 17.22 Crore) of India’s population of 121 crore, Indian Muslims have topped the charts in almost all the fields.

However, two Indian personalities, who had figured in the list of 500 last year, have been mentioned under Obituaries this year due to their demise. They are Dr AP J Abdul Kalam, who passed away on 27th July 2015 and B S Abdur Rahman who is Tamil Nadu based business magnate and philanthropist, who died on 7th January 2015.

Star Director Made Heroine Cry

Directors going to the extra mile of abusing and humiliating actors to extract best performances is nothing new in film industry and our very own director Teja is known for such temperament. Yet another star director joins the list now.

Selvaraghavan (Sri Raghava in Telugu) is co-writing and producing a movie in his wife Geethanjali’s direction. The film is titled Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam and it had senior editor Kola Bhaskar’s son making his acting debut. Also, Punjabi actress Wamiqa Gabbi makes her Tamil debut with this film.

In her latest interview, Wamiqa, who will also make her Telugu debut with Sudheer Babu’s Bhale Manchi Roju, narrated her first day shooting experience with Selvaraghavan. Apparently, Wamiqa was struggling with her lines and Selva, after waiting for while, lost his patience and shouted at Wamiqa amidst the entire unit.

Shocked by this, Wamiqa was left in tears and immediately called up her dad and told him that she won’t do the film. Her father, who always believed that Wamiqa was a born actress, criticized her for her low spirit which was when Wamiqa determined to give her best shot for the film.
