The Telangana government has appointed ex PCC chief Dharmapuri Srinivas (DS) as its Special Advisor. The government on Friday made an announcement passing the orders for the same. D Srinivas will be getting facilities/power of cabinet rank as Special Advisor. However, the appointment is valid only up to 1 year and government might extend the period once it’s lapsed.

D Srinivas is one of the senior leaders from Telangana. He worked with Congress for long time and once considered as loyal aid to Ms Sonia Gandhi. In fact, at times, he was in the race for the CM post in Congress. DS has been active in politics from Nizamabad district. He lost three times consecutively in general elections since 2009. DS was defeated twice in Nizamabad (Urban) Assembly constituency in the hands of BJP leader Yendala Lakshminarayana in the last general elections followed by by-election in 2010. Although he moved to Nizamabad (rural) in 2014, it didn’t overturn his fortune.

DS was defeated by TRS candidate Bajireddy Govardhan, who joined the party only a couple of days before the last date of filing of nominations, by a huge margin of 20,000 votes. Realizing that he has no bright future in Congress, DS joined TRS recently in the presence of KCR. KCR seems to have rewarded DS now.
