Allagadda MLA Akhila Priya has strongly condemned the highhandedness of police and the false case foisted on her father Bhuma Nagi Reddy as TDP government was to play strong-arm tactics, but “our resolve to fight back turns stronger with such intimidation and I hold the government responsible for any harm to him.”
“The Government is using police to target my father and is always on the lookout to foist cases on him and he is now denied permission to be shifted to NIMS. Should anything happen to him I will hold the Government responsible,” she told reporters here on Saturday.
On earlier occasion as well they have booked a case under SC, ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act and even now they played the same trick, apparently on the dictates of the Chief Minister’s Office. On the earlier occasion, he was shifted from Nandyal hospital to Kurnool and from there to NIMS by the same TDP government and why it could not be done now is not known as his medical history is known to the government.
The Collector has sent a three-member medical team to examine my father’s health condition and based on the report the State will take a decision of shifting is the official version. But there is no need for all that as the medical history of my father is known as he was shifted to NIMS on earlier occasion.
We will not be mellowed down by such cheap tricks and my father is on hunger strike in the jail in protest against the injustice and if anything should happen to him, the State has to be blamed,” she said.
Narrating the sequence of events, the Allgadda MLA said: “My father and I were sitting outside the polling station where seating arrangements were made for VIPs. A few minutes after my father left the venue to attend to some work, a big contingent of police with two DSPs, one ASP, inspectors and constables came to me and asked me to vote and leave the premises.
I politely told them that I will vote with my father after he returns but the DSP talked in a rude manner and told me to vote or leave the premises. When I asked him if there is any rule that a MLA cannot stay at the booth, he said you will influence the voters hence leave. I left the compound and stood at the gate and still there were objections and I was asked to leave.
At that point, I confirmed my rights as a MLA and when I was told that I can stay there I came back to my seat and it was then that my father came. On seeing his arrival, the DSP who was rude towards me, disappeared and another DSP was pushed forward to face my father.
When he asked why you were silent when I was here and talk to my daughter in a rude manner in a raised voice, they took him into custody and booked a case,” she said.
These tricks were played earlier too and we will not budge to such coercive methods and every such move will strengthen our resolve to fight injustice.
“The State Government will be blamed for anything that happens to my father,” she said.
