The total domination of TDP and YSRCP parties in Andhra Pradesh Assembly followed by BJP has put other stalwarts in a tight dock, especially Congress and Communists. It must be said that the CBN led and Jagan led parties are the key units in that state. 

Recently, CPI leader Ramakrishna was arrested in Ananthapur when he was leading a protest demanding separate status for AP as promised by ruling party before elections. He was not just taken in custody but was reportedly put to much inconvenience. 

Recently, Jagan raised this issue in Assembly saying TDP government arrested him just because he wanted to know about special status issue progress and his contingent walked out in protest. Today, CPI thanked Jagan for taking up their issue as they have no representation in Assembly. 

This is fine but for poor Congress party, there is no close friend in Assembly to raise such issues when they are also facing such arrests during protests.

Leslee Udwin’s controversial documentary ‘India’s Daughter’ interviewing Nirbhaya’s rape convict divided Indian society vertically. While one section opposed the ban imposed by the Indian government, another section supported it. 

However many across the world watched the documentary and some even defied ban to screen at various places in India. 

However with emotions playing huge role on foreigners attempting to tarnish India’s image, a Delhi based businessman Harvinder Singh came with his own documentary named United Kingdom’s Daughter, a 28-minute video reply to India’s Daughter. 

It highlighted rapes in United kingdom and quoted stats from BBC, Google and other sources. The video attracted immediate attention with more than 89,000 views in two days. Harvinder Singh said”When Leslee Udwin titled her film, ‘India’s Daughter’, it made us all look like culprits. 

As a businessman, I have travelled the world, and was aware of the rape problem in the UK. So I made this video,” United Kingdom’s Daughter starts with a description “This is reply (sic) to BBC for making video on rape cases in other countries when they are them self (sic) at the 5th place in world’s rape list (sic), to remind them daughter is daughter, she is not Indian or British & we have same pain for British too.” However this triggered lot of controversy online.

Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is reportedly planning to organize the groundbreaking ceremony for AP’s new capital on June 1, 2015 which is all set to begin a new phase.  

With this deadline in mind, sources say that Naidu has advanced his Singapore visit and would be soon visiting the island nation in the March last week before his China trip following which, the joint committees of the Capital Regional Development Authority (CRDA) would finalize the blueprint for the core capital. 

Naidu is all set to announce this ground-breaking date of June 1 on Ugadi day which falls on March 21. As the TDP government is very keen for beginning the construction of the new capital on June 1, the master plan is being submitted by Singapore earlier than that. 

Naidu is planning for the ground-breaking ceremony of new capital to be a grand event. Apart from PM Narendra Modi and his cabinet colleagues, other invitees is expected to be the chief ministers of Odisha, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

Nowadays, the behavior of legislators in State Assemblies is crossing all norms of decency. The common man is being forced to hang his head in shame at the decorum exhibited by his elected representatives. 

The ruckus witnessed in the Assembly of Kerala is a pointer to this. The opposition protested the Minister facing accusations of corruption to unveil the State budget. 

Compounding the situation, neither the Speaker nor the Chief Minister gave an assurance of a probe into the allegations against the concerned Minister which might have assuaged the opposition. 

The ruckus that followed was unprecedented with an opposition MLA claiming that a lady MLA from the ruling Party bit him. And therein lies the problem! 

The ruling parties, scared of the opposition gaining political mileage and being embarrassed is not allowing the opposition a fair say in proceedings. 

Even the Speakers are behaving like ruling party legislators instead of doing justice to their ‘august’ office. The way the bifurcation bill was passed in Parliament is still vivid in memory.

The Congress Party which is still grappling with the party’s debacle during 2014 general elections has a new problem on hand. Well, their party vice president Rahul Gandhi has been missing in action for some time now. 

To be precise, he has been gone for two weeks and no one seems to have any clue as to where he is. In fact, they haven’t disclosed if Rahul baba is in India or abroad. While some say he has gone off on a self-introspection trip, others say he is taking time off to think and plan future strategy for the grand old party of Indian politics. 

Incidentally, Rahul was supposed to have attended Parliament last Monday. But that did not happen and it was said that he extended his holiday. Meanwhile, it is being said that Rahul will take over the party reins from April onwards. 

On the other hand, the party official spokesperson has been maintaining that Congress workers and people must not get taken in by rumours and that the party will make an official announcement soon. 

However, there is one question on the minds of political observers? What if Rahul baba will take off after being made the Congress president? Well, only time will give answers for such questions.

In a day and age when social media is the medium through which celebrities choose to convey their thoughts, opinions and feelings about various issues, it is no surprise that Pawan Kalyan has decided to tweet too. 

After starting his twitter account, this is Pawan’s second tweet and after ‘fighting’ for the cause of farmers in Andhra Pradesh, now Pawan has decided to ‘fight’ for the cause of those who will be displaced from their native lands due to construction of major projects. 

So his tweet said that big projects always meant displacement of local people. Be it Hirakud dam to present day Polavaram project, Pawan says that the history has been repeating itself. Well, point noted Pawan garu. 

But what is the point in merely talking about issues and not doing anything about them. A true leader does not simply talk, he will also take action as and when required. Though in his first tweet, he had mentioned agricultural farmers who will lose livelihood after land pooling, Pawan did not do anything much in practical terms. 

If one has to go into people and take up the fight, one has to think of many connections and obligations. But it is simple to sit anywhere and tweet. Isn’t it? And tweets will also keep his mega fans happy and it hardly costs any money from his pocket. 

So it looks as if Pawan will spend his life tweeting and probably that’s the agenda of his Jana Sena party too!

It is the case of a world-class vision gone horribly wrong. The arrest of the managing director of realty firm, ‘Aliens Group’, Hari Challa, was the natural culmination of the many problems the firm was besieged by over the better part of this decade. 

More importantly, it is a live example and vindication of the problems that the realty sector is facing today. This is all about the hike in the hefty increase in the salaries for all the Councillors till the Zilla Parishad Chairman. On Friday he announced the hike in the salaries during the Assembly session. While the ZP chairman gets Rs 1 lakh and the Mayor gets Rs 50,000.

Mandal President: Rs1500 -Rs 10,000
