Why Was Venkaiah Missing At Bhoomi Pooja?
Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu, who played instrumental role in bifurcation of united AP last year, was conspicuous by his absence at the “bhoomi pooja” (ground-breaking ceremony) for the new capital city of Amaravati on Saturday.
While Venkaiah’s colleagues in the Narendra Modi cabinet – Nirmala Sitaraman, Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Sujana Chowdary – were present at the function held at Mandadam village of Tullur mandal in Guntur district, Venkaiah was not seen.
When media persons made enquiries, it was revealed that Venkaiah was in Mumbai to attend a conference on Smart Cities, but he could have made it to the function early in the morning before leaving for Mumbai. But for some reasons known only to him, he chose to stay away from the function.
Apparently, Venkaiah might have got the hint that there would be protests from the local people for not securing special status to AP.
Otherwise, there is no other reason for him to miss such an important event. May be, there is some mistrust between him and Chandrababu Naidu. Who knows, anything is possible in politics!

No matter NTR wave or TDP wave, Congress party always ensured its citadel of AP doesn’t slip from its hand. Except for 1999 when TDP secured consecutive second tenure, Congress made sure it was a force to reckon with in Andhra Pradesh at anytime.
But the manner in which bifurcation was done seems to be haunting the age old party of India for years to come in AP. No one is sure when the party can stage a comeback and hence many of its leaders are now deserting the party which they had owned even when it was in opposition earlier.
Sources say that entire Congress cadre is moving along with the regional strongman Botsa Satyanarayana into YSR Congress along with him tomorrow. In this regard, Jagan is expected to get full ‘Congress’boost which is the need of the hour for him to take on TDP in a direct fight.
With everyone joining YSRCP, the Congress party name plate at its headquarters in Vizianagaram district was reportedly taken off and thrown away and no one seems to be left in Congress here anymore.Congress has scripted a virtual death line in this region which earned many MLA’s and MP’s for the party even as recent as 2009.
