Didn’t Use Body Double In ‘Baahubali’ For Authenticity: Anushka

Actress Anushka Shetty says she didn’t seek the help of a body double for the action sequences in upcoming Telugu action-drama “Baahubali” as she wanted the scenes to be as authentic as possible.

“Rajamouli (filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli) sir was very particular about authenticity from the beginning. He wouldn’t even compromise on a small scene. Hence, I performed all my stunts on my own and didn’t take the help of a body double,” Anushka told IANS.

She said that she wasn’t apprehensive about doing the stunts on her own.

“All of us were rigorously trained for months. In fact, we were asked to fight in real time as Rajamouli sir felt it would look realistic on screen,” she added.

However, Anushka had one minor concern while shooting.

“I laugh a lot, especially between shots and it’s tough for me to control. There have been so many instances where my director had to request me to stop laughing and come into the mood of the scene,” she said.

Rajamouli-directed “Baahubali” is said to be India’s most expensive motion picture. It also stars Prabhas Varma, Rana Daggubati, Tamannah Bhatia, Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan in important roles.

The film releases world-wide on July 10 in Tamil and Hindi as well.

ACB quizzes TDP MLA in Cash-for-Vote Scam

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana on Saturday began interrogating Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA A. Revanth Reddy and two others in cash-for-vote scam.

ACB sleuths took custody of the legislator and his two aides Sebastian Harry and Uday Simha from Cherlapally Jail.

While Revanth Reddy was taken to an undisclosed location for questioning, two others were brought to ACB headquarters.

The MLA’s lawyers staged a protest at ACB office, demanding information about his whereabouts. Pramod Reddy, one of the lawyers, alleged that ACB’s action was violation of court orders.

A city court on Friday had sent the accused to ACB custody for four days. The court directed the agency to question them in the presence of their lawyers between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Revanth Reddy, a member of Telangana legislative assembly, was arrested by the ACB when he was handing over Rs.50 lakh to nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson on May 31 to make him vote for TDP-BJP candidate in Telangana legislative council elections. The ACB, which had laid the trap on a complaint by Stephenson, also arrested two aides of the TDP leader.

A magistrate on June 1 sent the accused to judicial custody for 14 days.

The ACB is trying to elicit information from Revanth about the source of money and also about remaining Rs.4.5 crore he had promised as part of Rs.5 crore deal. He is also likely to be questioned about the complicity of other political leaders he mentioned during the conversation with the nominated MLA.

The questioning assumed significance in the light of a statement by Telangana Home Minister N. Narasimha Reddy that there is a proof that TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu spoke to the nominated MLA and some other legislators of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) over phone.

TRS leaders have alleged that Naidu is the mastermind in the scam and demanded that he be made the prime accused in the case.

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, accompanied by ACB Director General A. K. Khan on Friday called on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, triggering speculations about the state government’s plan to seek Naidu’s prosecution.

Narasimhan is the governor for both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

The TDP government of Andhra Pradesh has hit back with Deputy Chief Minister N. Chinnarajappa daring TRS government to book Naidu and make the recording of telephone conversation public. He also said they would complaint to the central government about phone tapping of Naidu and other TDP leaders.

Naidu has also stated that he will not be cowed down by the attempts of TRS to defame him.

Aarthi attempted for suicide in 2005 when allegedly her relationship with her co-star was in rough weathers. Since then, her career hit rock bottom. She married to Ujwal Kumar in Secunderabad’s Arya Samaj in 2007. It was a love marriage. She had been staying with Ujwal in America. During the last days, she struggled for roles in film industry. Aarthi’s last film is Ranam 2.

Tollywood Mourns The Death Of Aarti Agarwal

It is still a shock to digest the news that Aarti Agarwal is no more. She passed away due to cardiac arrest in a hospital, in New Jersey early today.

Tollywood celebrities and many of her friends from the film family is in deep sorrow, to accept the news.

Venkatesh and Suresh Babu, who introduced the actress, conveyed their condolences and wasn’t still able to talk at length about the sudden demise.

Few days ago, the entire unit flew down to Mumbai for the Hindi version’s trailer launch and today, Baahubali team is in Chennai for the Tamil trailer launch.

The event was a wonderful get together for the team which showcased the camaraderie between each others. Speaking on the occasion, Rana made the guests break out into smiles as he said several lovely facts about both Tamannah and Anushka.

Rana said that while Tammanh kills everyone with her softness and hard work, Sweety aka Anushka is a killer with her sweetness. On a serious note, Rana said that he has never seen a hardworking actress like Tamannah and a professional like Anushka.

Jokes On Baahubali’s Poster Sales

Baahubali’ mania is gripping all over the tinsel town with the movie’s theatrical trailer giving some mystical fairy tale experience to viewers. Enormous clicks received by the trailer on social networks stand as an example of how deeply the movie got rooted into cine lovers. Surely that’s gonna give a boost to openings.

To take the movie further into audiences, Baahubali team is now selling some merchandise. After t-shirts and caps, Baahubali posters are now available online. All those first look posters released by Rajamouli through twitter, are available in print version- an A3 size poster costs you 150 rupees including ‘delivery’ charges.

If anyone downloads the poster of Baahubali from internet and gets that printed in color on A3 sheets in cities like Vijayawada and Hyderabad, it costs a mere 20 rupees. What for people would love to invest 150 on this poster?

Some hardcore cinema lovers felt that even 20 rupees was a bit high for the poster. If the movie nears release date, then all the cinema-magazines that cost between 10-12 rupees throw advertisements of Baahubali. From decades, people have the habit of cutting those sheets and decorating their bedrooms.

Anyway this is just a discussion, but there are fans out there who have already ordered for the posters on Baahubali website and waiting for their delivery.

Burglary at Dasari Son’s House!

Burglary took place at Former Union Minister Dasari Narayana Rao Son Arunkumar’s residence in Hyderabad in the wee hours of Saturday. About Rs 3 crore cash and Rs 7 lakh worth gold has been stolen from the house. A police complaint has been lodged and search is on to nab the culprits.

Dasari Arunkumar turned actor in the late 90s. He played the lead in many films but the only time he made a impression is with a song in Krishna Vamsi’s ‘Anthahpuram’ which have a faction backdrop. After struggling for nearly a decade, He has given up acting upon realising family background doesn’t guarantee success in film industry.

Darsakaratna, on the other hand, has been going through a rough patch since a decade. Involvement in coalgate scam and inclusion of his name in the charge sheet filed by CBI accusing him of accepting Rs 2 crore bribe has only tarnished his image. Currently, Dasari is busy searching for a promising subject that’s apt for Pawan Kalyan and a director who is capable of making it a solid hit.

Dasari & his Son jointly made headlines after a very long time. Of course, It’s just because of all the wrong reasons (burglary) for which they can’t be faulted.

Once very popular actress Aarti Agarwal said to have passed away. She is 31 and yet to be married. Reports are emerging that Aarti is being treated in a hospital in Atlantic City of New Jersey where she is undergoing a liposuction but the surgical procedure went wrong resulting in cardiac complications for the actress.

Aarti Agarwal was a rage when she made her debut with Nuvvu Naku Nachav in 2001. She went places in her career and almost romanced all the top heroes at that time. However from NTR’s Allari Ramudu she started putting on weight which slowly disfigured her.

Opportunities dried down and the bad patch even forced her to do several B grade films. She is undergoing the liposuction to revive her career when this happened. We join our readers in expressing our heart felt condolences to the bereaved family.

Since time immemorial, there have been numerous talks about why Telugu films lack in quality content while their counterparts in Bollywood, Tamil and even Malayalam come up with amazing film with strong scripts. Whereas in Tollywood, filmmakers still continue to churn out the same old stale comedies and routine commercial potboilers.

Yesterday, Burning Star Sampoornesh Babu’s latest film, Singham 123, was released to unbelievable openings. The craze for the film was such that most of the theaters even displayed houseful boards, showcasing the Telugu film lovers’ taste and enthusiasm for mindless entertainers. Several hilariously executed scenes, even though look silly, managed to spellbound the audiences in amusement.

Just a day before its release, the film’s writer and producer Manchu Vishnu appealed to fans not to worry about any logic in the film but only to enjoy the fun. Following his words seriously, the comedy lovers gave unbelievable openings to the film and proved that they never care for logics on screen as long as the film entertains them.

Singham 123 is a typical spoof film that exploits Sampoornesh’s image among his fans. Fans are going crazy to see their favorite star enacting several ridiculous antics and mouthing punch dialogues which are usually a star hero’s forte. Perhaps, this strange blend of modesty and magnanimity are helping the film rake in all the moolah.

Where Is Tiger? Where Is This Magician?

They are neither too-small heroes, nor big stars. For small heroes, they will get a release date easily because they could dive into any available date without any second thoughts. For big heroes, others give way for a release.

But for heroes like Sandeep Kishan and Naga Shourya who are hanging exactly in the middle, they can’t fix their release just like that because they want big revenues. At the same time, they can’t find a date just like that because there are many biggies in the queue. Couple of missed dates, postponements and now the position of movies like “Tiger” and magician aka “Jadoogadu” is still not known.

Hero Sandeep is highly confident of Tiger because none other than AR Murugadoss’ protege has directed it. From April, he’s keen to release the movie but not finding a suitable date. The possible explanation that is give is, ‘pending post production work’. Same is the case with lover boy Naga Shourya, who wanted to prove his mass-side with “Jadoogadu”. Despite some huge promotions earlier, the film got stuck in labs because of lack of release dates.

Only June 12th looks the possible date for these two heroes if they feel a week is enough for them to recover budgets. From a week later, we have biggies like Kick 2, Rudramadevi, Baahubali and Srimanthudu lined up.

Pawan Doesn’t Like AP Capital Bhoomi Puja?

The foundation stone laying ceremony for AP capital Amaravati has been laid amidst traditional rituals and much pompous this morning. Several dignitaries from the state and central governments attended the auspicious ceremony. However, one person’s absence and the following protests by his party cadre has become a burning issue. The man in question is no one but Powerstar Pawan Kalyan.

This morning, the Janasena party cadre carried out a huge protest at the Kaleswara Rao Market in Vijayawada. Powerstar fans demanded special status to AP and demanded resignations from senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu and other TDP MPs due to their failure in convincing the centre for special status. The Janasena cadre also said that these protests are carried out Pawan’s consent.

These comments by them have raised serious doubt’s over Pawan being upset with Chandrababu for not fulfilling his promises. Couple of months ago, Pawan toured the trouble regions of AP capital and openly warned Naidu against any injustice to the people who voted for him. On the other hand, political analysts suspect that all is not well between Babu and Pawan and they are expressing doubt’s on whether Pawan was even invited to the foundation laying ceremony.

All this suspicion leads to only one doubt if Pawan is not happy with the Bhoomi Puja that took place this morning. Why will he let his cadre protest right on the day of capital foundation ceremony? We’ll have to wait and see Pawan’s strategy in the coming days. Whether he will voice his opinion again or continue shooting for Gabbar Singh 2.

Baahubali Has No PRO?

A film needs good PR and for that one needs a good PRO. And every film is associated with a good PRO and that’s the norm.

But if the news from Film Nagar are to be believed, then Baahubali has decided not have a PRO.

Right now, Rajamouli’s office is looking into Baahubali’s press release and other related matters. It is being said that the same would continue and they have decided not to have a PRO for the film.

Already, the film has got lots of hype and Rajamouli says there is no need for PR. If that happens, then apart from being a big budget film, it will also become a film without a PRO.

Srimanthudu Pushed to August!

If the indications are to be believed, Superstar Mahesh Babu’s Srimanthudu may be pushed to August now. The film was earlier stated for release on July 17th but now is likely to be postponed as the makers of Baahubali are keen to release their film on July 10th.

In the Tamil trailer launch event in Chennai, the team had clarified they are on track for July 10th release, which means Srimanthudu had to be postponed to withstand the effect of the most awaited film of the year. Srimanthudu may be now looking at August 14th release.

The recently release first look teaser of Mahesh Babu’s Srimanthudu is greeted to a superb response. Buoyed by the success, the makers are gearing up for the audio release event. We are told that they are planning a grand gala event on 27th June. They are scouting for a right venue for the event.
