Rape Victim Died After Being in Coma for 42 YearsAruna Shanbaug, former nurse of Mumbai’s Kings Edward Memorial (KEM) hospital, who was raped in 1973 by a ward boy at the hospital, has died on Monday after being in coma for over four decades. Aruna was 67 year old. She had been in vegetative state for 42 years ever since she was brutally assualted and raped by ward boy at her work place.

Aruna had been suffering from pneumonia for a while. She was put on ventilator for a week before she breathed her last at 8.30 AM on May 18, 2015.

It Is Not Easy To Please Balakrishna

Balakrishna’s Lion that had a decent first day at the box office failed to keep up the momentum throughout the weekend.

As per trade reports Lion had an average first weekend and things doesn’t look bright enough for the movie to enter safe zone as the collections keep on dropping by the day. However Balakrishna fans are not worrying much about Lion as his next film look more than promising.

Balakrishna’s next film will be directed by Srivaas, who is fresh from the success of Loukyam. Ace writers Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan are working on the script for this film tentatively titled Dictator.

Reports have been coming that the film would be launched on 29th of this month. But Balakrishna is not impressed with the script as of now.

Balakrishna asked for some key changes to be made and Srivaas along with his writers team is working on them. Balakrishna is not pleased with the title Dictator too. He says that nothing has been finalized as of now.

“I will do this film if the changes are made according to my liking or I will take up another project,” said Balakrishna.

When top directors like Srinu Vaitla couldn’t get things right without the involvement of Kona and Gopi, there is Balakrishna who dictates terms to them. At least they got the title right, isn’t it?

Siva Prasad’s controversial comments on Chandrababu

Looks like AP CM and TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu has lost his earlier iron grip on his party and the internal democracy in the part is exceeding that of Congress, which is usually known for leaders speaking whatever they like in public. TDP seems to have fully adopted the Congress culture.

The maverick politician of TDP and the MP of Chittoor, N Siva Prasad who is also a character artist in films is known widely for his antics. These days he is also popular for his off the cuff remarks and statements which are becoming embarrassing for Telugu Desam Party.

Recently he reportedly made few comments in his native district during a meeting of the cadre for a development programmed. Siva Prasad reportedly said that Naidu is neglecting his own district at the cost of regions like Godavari districts, Vizag and Ananthapur that sent more MLA’s.

N Siva Prasad stated that Naidu seems to be more interested in only those places where TDP almost managed a clear sweep and is ignoring Chittoor because it only sent 6 MLA’s out of 12 seats in total. The MP added that at that time (of Jagan wave), securing six was no small task. TDP leadership is yet to respond to his remarks.

RGV tweeted, “well sir for ur info I stopped drinking …I am not into kissing men but love you too”. Can Puri Risk With Fully Known Story?

Share

charmi

Director Puri Jagan is an elated man with three big films under his kitty right now. After succeeding with the gigantic task of convincing Megastar Chiranjeevi for his 150th, he got a green signal from Mahesh Babu for a hat-trick movie and anyway had Varun Tej’s film confirmed already. Then what’s that risky story people are talking about?

Before any films of Chiru, Mahesh or Varun Tej commences, Puri Jagan will be treating audiences with “Jyothi Lakshmi”. Trailer is impressive and Charmi is gorgeous, but it’s the story of this film that poses a threat.

A prostitute is loved whole heartedly by one of her customers and he marries her eloping. Later that sex-racket’s kingpins try to nab this girl, beat that guy, they fight back and society absorbs them. This maybe a superhit novel, but the story is beaten to death in Tollywood with filmmakers revisiting it numerous times.

With such a known story, Puri has to weave a screenplay magic to woo audiences otherwise this is a huge risk. In “Jyothi Lakshmi”, neither Charmi’s glamour nor her performance is new. It will be Puri’s magic that needs to stand as backbone. Hope it will.

Behind The Scene: OU Versus KCR!

Share

kcr111

There are many people who chose to complicate things for themselves. When there is a simple and clear route ahead of them, they choose to take a different and extremely complicated path to the same goal. This is very much true of KCR.

Already at loggerheads with the students over the issue of job notifications, the entire Osmania University is now up in arms against KCR’s latest decision.

He said that his government will buy 11 acres from Osmania University and construct housing projects for the poor on that land.

The Osmania JAC has warned KCR against acquiring even a single yard of University land.

“OU is not the property of KCR’s father. There is no permission to lay even a single pipeline here. Where then does the question of acquiring land arise? Judging by KCR’s behavior, it appears as if he will soon sell away the ‘Arts’ College and ‘Engineering College’ also to Oberoi Hotels,” said the JAC.

There are many lands available in Hyderabad which have been assigned to various government bodies and are lying unused. Why can’t KCR use that land? Why OU of all places?

IPL eight: An unpredictable but exciting story so far

Kolkata: David Warner may have emerged as the individual top run-getter in the round robin stage of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), but such is the unpredictability of the cash-rich tournament that his team Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) crashed out of the popular competition, finishing sixth in the points table.

The topsy-turvy nature of the contests was amply evident during a sensational last week when defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) – once sitting pretty at the second spot – saw their hopes for a play-off slot go for a toss. Again, Mumbai Indians (MI) at one point of time looked like finishing nowhere near the top four, but in the end made the cut.

The Warner-led Sunrisers seemed on course to entering the play-offs before they stumbled in their ultimate group phase game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Sunday.

Warner – who leads the batting chart with 562 runs – stupendously caught a Virat Kohli skier against RCB but failed to remain within the playing field to plunge his side into a nerve shattering loss that paved the way for RCB’s play-off qualification.

Kohli is third in the run-getters table with 481 runs from 14 matches at an average of 53.44, preceded by Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) Ajinkya Rahane who has notched 498 from 13 matches, averaging 49.80.

Contrary to the helter-skelter in the middle of the table, three time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) remained steady in the forefront, courtesy of their formidable team composition which includes West Indian Darren Bravo.

Bravo heads the list of wicket-takers with 20 victims from 14 matches with an average of 16.45. He is followed by RCB’s leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and Mumbai Indians pacer Lasith Malinga, who have claimed 19 scalps each.

Besides Chahal and Kohli, burly Jamaican batsman Chris Gayle has also contributed to RCB’s rise, hitting as many as 34 sixes in 12 innings. He is followed by CSK’s swashbuckling opener Brendon McCullum who has clubbed 23 over the boundaries so far.

But it is Gayle’s RCB teammate AB de Villiers who has recorded the highest individual score in a match, plundering a 59-ball 133 not out against the Mumbai Indians on May 10. Gayle has also clobbered his way to a punitive knock of 117 runs against Kings XI Punjab.

His West Indies teammate Andre Russell was defending champions KKR’s go-to-man, as he managed a strike rate of 192.89 – the highest in the tournament. While Bangalore would fall upon their most trusted seamer in their hour of need, Australian Mitchell Starc, who has 18 wickets to his credit, alongside the best bowling average of 13.44.

The tournament’s journey has been filled with its share of ups and downs. Now with four qualifying teams – CSK, MI, RCB and RR – and four games remaining, the stage is set for more fireworks and excitement.

CSK will take on MI on Tuesday in Qualifier I in Mumbai. The winner of the match will enter the final, to be played on May 24 in Kolkata.

RCB face RR in the Eliminator match in Pune on Wednesday. The winner of the match will play the losing team of Qualifier I in Ranchi on Friday to determine the second team to advance to the title round.

Share

Tollywood’s most awaited magnum opus, Baahubali, will be releasing on the 10th of July. For the film, Prabhas teamed up with Rajamouli after their previous success, Chatrapati. The actor-director duo has been toiling hard for the last 3 years to make Baahubali a never seen before affair on Indian screen.

Last night, both Prabhas and Rajamouli attended K Raghavendra Rao’s talk show, Soundaryalahari. The show’s co-hostess Suma asked Prabhas if he had seen the film and if he liked it. Replying to her, the young Rebel Star said that he watched the film but did not like it. However, Prabhas said that he liked the interval bang of Student No.1.

This was indeed a surprising reply from Prabhas, since Student No.1 was a huge hit and made stars out of NTR and Rajamouli. Fans of Rajamouli have started wondering why would Prabhas even say like that with Baahubali’s release around the corner. On the other hand, many others, including Rajamouli’s fans, felt that that Prabhas has his right to express his honest opinion since his comments were taken positively by Rajamouli himself.
