What’s Wrong In Doing An Item Number?
Well, up north heroines who are hot and on top do item numbers to have some special songs in their kitty. Now no matter what is said, it is the item songs that people remember the most and they are the ones played at clubs and weddings.
So, Ileana who has been trying her luck in Bollywood has decided to do an item number in Akhil’s yet-to-be-titled film that is being directed by VV Vinayak.
But down south there is a common feeling that heroines who don’t have roles end up doing item numbers.
Well, when asked the same, Ileana doesn’t bat an eyelid and says that there is nothing wrong in doing an item number when one does not have films. Her logic is that when one gets paid a huge amount for barely two days of work, why should it hurt anyone?
And Ileana also reminds us that according to a survey, most bachelors had posters of Ileana in their rooms. So, she says she is happy with the offer as she gets to shake a leg with Akhil in his debut film and sizzle on screen once again.
Of course, she did have her share of films and Ileana says she will get the offers that are meant for her which anyways.
Hero Lives Up To Promise Made To His Mother
He is one of the top heroes in Tollywood with a sizeable fan following. An educated person as well, he hails from a top film production family and is known to be on good terms with other top heroes without a penchant for publicity or controversies.
Here, one thing in particular needs to be mentioned about this hero. This hero is a remarkable exception in that he strictly stays away from the women in the industry.
It is very difficult to resist the temptations of the opposite sex in the film industry but this hero has been very principled on that count. And there is a reason for this too. This hero entered the industry at a relatively young age just like his dad.
This hero’s dad did not spare anyone in the industry whether heroine, junior artiste or item girl much to the chagrin of the hero’s mother.
So when the hero decided to enter the industry as well, she apparently took a promise from him that he would not become like his dad and strictly keep away from the temptations of Tollywood.
The hero promised her accordingly before making his debut. To date, he has kept his promise and is devoted only to his family and children. A real role model!
Trade Talk: Ganga Continues To Make Money
Balayya’s Lion did have great openings. It is being said that the film had better collections than Legend in some centres. However, since the talk is not very encouraging, it remains to be seen how it fares in future.
On the other hand, Ganga is still making decent money. The film was declared a hit in the first week and it was declared a super hit in the second week and it is making lots of money in the mass centres.
Meanwhile, Lakshmi Manchu’s Dongata did have positive reviews, but that hasn’t translated into collections at the box office. Though it did have positive response in A centres, it failed to attract audiences in B, C centres.
And Daagudumoota Dandakor did not work at the box office, despite the big names it was associated with.
The Rise And Fall Of Two Legends
In the world of cinema, they are undisputed legends: one as an actor and the other as a director.
Chiranjeevi became the most popular star on screen after NTR and ANR whereas Dasari Narayana Rao has the record of directing 150 movies to date.
Both of them were highly respected in the industry and commanded sufficient clout on account of their achievements. But all that goodwill went into the drainage with their political forays.
Chiranjeevi started the ‘Praja Rajyam’ party amidst a lot of hype and expectations. Cutting across caste and regional lines, fans turned up in huge numbers for the inaugural.
In fact, after ‘Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga Rao’, Chiranjeevi was hailed as the best bet from the Kapu community to become CM. However; all hopes were to be dashed soon.
The party was rocked by complaints that election tickets were being auctioned and that Chiru and Allu Aravind netted a neat amount from this process. After a poor electoral showing, Chiru merged his ‘Praja Rajyam’ with the Congress allegedly for a certain amount and a Union Minister post.
But the horrifying thing was when he refused to resign as MP and Union Minister for the sake of Samaikhyandhra. He still continues in the Congress, which divided the State against the wishes of the Telugu people.
And now Dasari’s role in the coal scam is a huge black mark on the man. As Union Minister of State for Coal, it is Dasari’s responsibility to protect the resources of the nation. However, Dasari has been accused of allotting a coal block to the ‘Jindal Group’ for a bribe of Rs 5 crores. This money was invested in Dasari’s company ‘Siri Media’.
The CBI has charge sheeted Dasari and says it has all evidence of his wrongdoing. Dasari’s response is that his conscience is clean and strangely adds that if he is guilty, then so is Manmohan Singh.
Needless to say, the credibility of both these people is at rock bottom. Chiru is already taking steps to repair the damage to his status through his 150th film. As for Dasari, he will have to be acquitted in the coal scam case before he can start preaching morals at audio functions again.
Both of them are guilty of backstabbing the people’s trust in them. Will they ever regain public goodwill that is priceless compared to a Union Minister’s post or a hundred coal blocks?
Dirt Cheap: Story Rights For Rs 1 Lakh?
The writer of Temper was given Rs 1 crore and today all the top writers command Rs 1 crore for their stories in Tollywood irrespective of what or who they are inspired by.
But the story of Jyothilakshmi which was made with a budget of Rs 12 crores by Puri Jagannadh was bought for just Rs 1 lakh?
Well, Puri happened to read the novel Mrs Parankusam by Malladi Venkata Krishnamurthy and he had been contemplating to make a film based on it for the past five to six years.
The film is about a young man who wants to marry a prostitute and give a life to her. And the central character is being played by Charmme.
In today’s time and age, must say Rs 1 lakh is small change for many film-makers and to get such a lucrative story for that price, Puri is indeed a shrewd player.
Using Mahesh Babu to counter Chiranjeevi?
Director Puri Jagannadh surprised everyone by announcing a movie with Mahesh Babu right after his movie with Chiranjeevi was made official.
Puri is all set to direct Chiranjeevi’s 150th film that will be formally launched on August 22nd. Meanwhile he narrated a script to Mahesh Babu for which the superstar has reportedly given a positive nod.
Why did Puri narrate his script to Mahesh Babu while his focus is on Megastar’s landmark film at the moment?
Mahesh also has other commitments at the moment, which means it will take some time for Puri to launch his hat-trick movie with the superstar. Then why did Puri hurry to lock his next film with Mahesh Babu?
Industry people say that these are clever tactics by Puri Jagannadh to keep Chiranjeevi and the mega camp on toes.
It is widely believed that the Megastar interferes in the work of directors. Only hotshot directors getaway without being bullied by them. As of now Puri Jagan is not in top form and there is a chance for Chiranjeevi and co. to keep on interfering in his work.
Puri Jagannadh has announced his next film with a big star like Mahesh Babu so that the mega camp will give enough freedom to him considering the craze and demand he has among other top stars.
