As we’ve reported several times recently, Tollywood is fully embracing the trend of sequels and franchise films. Over the past few years, the industry has seen a growing interest in continuing successful stories, and now, several high-profile sequels are in the pipeline, each carrying significant expectations.

First on the radar is Devara Part 2, the sequel to Jr. NTR and Koratala Siva’s action drama. The first installment performed decently at the box office and set the stage for a bigger and more impactful second part. With the buzz surrounding Jr. NTR’s role and Koratala’s direction, this sequel is expected to rake in massive collections.

Another major project is Pushpa 3, which was officially confirmed by Allu Arjun and Sukumar. While the film is still in its early planning stages, production is expected to begin in 2027. Given the monumental success of Pushpa: The Rise and the anticipated release of Pushpa: The Rule, expectations are sky-high for the third chapter in this gritty franchise.

Then there’s Kalki 2898 AD Part 2. After the unexpected box office triumph of the first part, the sequel has been greenlit and is currently in the pre-production phase. With shooting expected to commence soon, this project has already piqued the interest of sci-fi and pan-Indian film lovers alike.

On the lighter side of things, Tillu Cube — the third installment in the DJ Tillu franchise — is already generating excitement. The first two films earned cult status for their quirky comedy and youthful charm, and the third is touted to be the biggest and most entertaining part of the franchise yet.

With a slate full of sequels and franchises — ranging from mass action to comedy and futuristic thrillers — Tollywood is betting big on continuity. It remains to be seen how many of these will live up to the hype, but one thing is clear: the sequel season in Telugu cinema is just getting started.
