Rana Daggubati on Pan-India Films and Industry Unity

Rana Daggubati, who is currently busy promoting his much-awaited web series Rana Naidu 2, recently shared his perspective on the ongoing discussions about the North and South film industries. The second season of Rana Naidu is set to premiere on June 13th, and as part of his promotional activities, Rana sat down for an interview where he addressed the frequently debated topic of unity and differences within Indian cinema.

When asked about the constant comparisons and discussions surrounding how both industries can support each other, Rana offered a candid response.

“If all of us decide to move to one place and work together, we would automatically become one industry overnight. The problem arises because we speak different languages across the country, making communication a challenge,” Rana explained.

The actor further elaborated on the impact of the pan-India trend, particularly on regional industries like Telugu cinema. “In the process of going pan-India, we somewhere lost our cultural essence in the Telugu space. Not every film needs to cater to a pan-Indian audience. Now, we are consciously focusing on creating films rooted deeply in Telugu culture,” he added.

Highlighting the diversity of India, Rana said, “India has Unity in Diversity. Our entertainment industry is a reflection of this — we can create from anywhere and still connect with others. What truly matters is how we help each other in aspects like distribution, technology, and operational mechanisms.”

Rana’s thoughtful insights reflect a growing sentiment in the Indian film fraternity — that while cross-regional collaborations are welcome, preserving the authenticity and cultural richness of regional cinema remains equally important.
