Following the attack on Saif Ali Khan earlier this year, Bollywood power couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt made a heartfelt request to the media on Thursday, asking them to refrain from taking photos of their two-year-old daughter, Raha. In an intimate interaction with the press ahead of Alia’s birthday on March 15, the couple emphasized their concern for their child’s safety. While they acknowledged the privilege of their position, they made it clear that as parents, they are committed to doing everything they can to protect their child.
Ranbir shared his thoughts, explaining, “Today, anyone with a phone can post anything, and it can spread uncontrollably. So, we’re asking for your help in ensuring Raha’s privacy. You (paparazzi) are like family to us, and we can only request your cooperation.” When asked whether they would take legal action against those who ignore their request, Ranbir assured that they would not. “I was born in Mumbai, and you all are family. It’s not about filing cases; we make requests, and you help us. It’s about respect,” he explained.
Alia added, “We don’t want to escalate things, but if someone keeps disregarding our request, then there’s no other option.” The couple had first introduced Raha to the media during a Christmas brunch hosted by the Kapoor family two years ago.
During the meet-and-greet, Ranbir also addressed a privacy issue from 2023, where paparazzi had taken pictures of Alia while she was on a balcony, shot from a distant building. “That’s crossing a line. You can’t invade our privacy in our own home. We understand the curiosity about our lives, but there’s a boundary that shouldn’t be crossed. Beyond that, we appreciate the respect you’ve shown us over the years,” he said.
Alia, who was also celebrating her upcoming birthday, cut a cake in the presence of the media. The privacy of celebrity children has become a growing concern, especially in the age of social media. Ranbir’s cousin, Kareena Kapoor Khan, had made a similar request to the paparazzi in the past, asking them not to photograph her sons, Taimur and Jeh, following the knife attack on Saif in January.
