Revanth Reddy & KTR Unite for South India’s Parliamentary Representation

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) are often at odds over public policies and political matters. However, the two leaders found common ground at the Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting convened by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to discuss the delimitation issue.

Addressing the media after the crucial meeting in Chennai, Revanth Reddy emphasized that the central government must ensure a mandatory 33% representation for South Indian states in the proposed delimitation process. He strongly opposed any approach that could potentially reduce the political influence of South Indian states based on population index-based redistricting.

Supporting this stance, KTR echoed the Telangana Chief Minister’s statement, asserting that South Indian states deserve proportional representation in Parliament. “As highlighted by the Chief Minister, our states contribute 36% to the country’s economy. It is only logical and fair that we receive the same level of representation in Parliament. If we are fiscally contributing 36% to the GDP, then why should we not have 36% representation in Parliament?” KTR remarked.

This rare moment of political unity underscores the growing concerns of South Indian leaders regarding fair representation in national policy-making.
