Sajjala Reclaims Key Role as YSRCP Faces Leadership Vacuum

In the aftermath of the recent electoral setback, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) appears to be undergoing a significant internal churn. Reports from within the party suggest that President and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has begun re-evaluating his inner circle, particularly those perceived to have misled him during the crucial election period.

Among the key figures under scrutiny was senior party leader Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, long regarded as a close confidant of Jagan. Allegations from several party leaders and cadre indicate that Sajjala was instrumental in creating a disconnect between the leadership and grassroots workers. His perceived gatekeeping reportedly alienated many from accessing the party high command, leading to dissatisfaction even within YSRCP’s digital platforms, where cadre openly expressed their criticism.

Initially, Jagan curtailed Sajjala’s role in decision-making, signaling a potential shift in party dynamics. However, despite the backlash, Sajjala’s unwavering loyalty to the YSR family appears to have worked in his favor. In the absence of trusted lieutenants—particularly after the resignation of former Rajya Sabha MP V. Vijay Sai Reddy and the arrest of Raj Kesireddy—Jagan is now left with a narrowed circle of advisors.

While leaders such as Y.V. Subba Reddy, P. Mithun Reddy, and Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy continue to play roles in the party’s structure, insiders say their lack of strong grassroots connect has hindered their influence. This leadership vacuum seems to have opened the door for Sajjala’s resurgence.

Sources confirm that Jagan has once again begun to lean on Sajjala for handling sensitive internal matters, including coordinating with jailed leaders like Kakani Govardhan Reddy in Nellore and Nandigam Suresh in Guntur. His return to prominence suggests a recalibration of trust within the party hierarchy.

With many district-level leaders now aligning themselves with Sajjala, observers note that the exit of Vijay Sai Reddy may have inadvertently strengthened his position. A possible restructuring of the party’s leadership is anticipated, with speculation mounting over who will be entrusted with key responsibilities as the YSRCP navigates this transitional phase.

As the party looks to regroup and rebuild, all eyes are on how Jagan Mohan Reddy will reshape his leadership team and strategy going forward.
