Chiranjeevi Moves High Court Over GHMC Permission Delay
July 15, 2025

Mega Star Chiranjeevi, known for his dignified and controversy-free public image, has found himself compelled to approach the High Court after facing unexpected hurdles from GHMC officials.
Chiranjeevi owns a long-standing residence in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, built decades ago with proper government approvals. Recently, he decided to renovate the property, including constructing a retaining wall and making minor structural changes to strengthen the aging building.
Following protocol, Chiranjeevi submitted an application to the GHMC on June 5, seeking renovation permissions. Despite waiting for almost a month and following up multiple times, there was no official response from the authorities. Left with no alternative, Chiranjeevi filed a petition with the High Court, seeking intervention.
In his plea, Chiranjeevi clarified that his request was purely to upgrade and reinforce his legally sanctioned property, following due process. He argued that the continued inaction from GHMC was unjustified.
During the hearing, the High Court pulled up the GHMC for the unexplained delay, questioning why legally compliant applications were being stalled while illegal constructions seemingly continued unchecked across the city. The court demanded accountability and instructed GHMC to provide a clear timeline for granting the required permissions.
Furthermore, the court directed GHMC to expedite the approval process so Chiranjeevi could proceed with the renovation. This incident highlights how even prominent citizens can face bureaucratic roadblocks and the importance of transparent governance in civic matters.
