Nagarjuna has heaped praise on his son Akhil Akkineni after watching the first cut of the upcoming film Lenin, confidently stating that audiences will witness a “new Akhil” when the film hits theatres on June 26, 2026.
Taking to X after viewing director Murali Kishor Abburu’s much-anticipated project, Nagarjuna expressed pride and excitement, urging fans to mark the release date. The film stars Akhil alongside Bhagyashri Borse, who plays Bharathi, the female lead.

Originally slated for a May 1 release, Lenin was postponed to June 26 by Annapurna Studios. The makers cited respect for Ram Charan’s film Peddi, which releases around the same time, highlighting the strong bond between the actors and their intent to maintain a positive box-office environment.

The film has already generated strong buzz among fans. Notably, Sreeleela was initially cast as the female lead but exited due to scheduling conflicts, after which Bhagyashri Borse stepped in.

A previously released glimpse, unveiled on Akhil’s birthday, hinted at an intense action drama with mythological undertones reminiscent of the Mahabharata. Akhil appears in a fierce avatar, backed by a powerful voiceover reflecting on legacy and identity, culminating in the reveal of the title Lenin and its striking tagline: “No war is more violent than love.”

The film features cinematography by Naveen Kumar, music by Thaman S, and editing by Navin Nooli.
With mounting expectations and strong backing, Lenin is shaping up to be a crucial film in Akhil Akkineni’s career.
