Telangana Clears Bill to Deduct Salary for Neglecting Parents

The Telangana Cabinet has approved the landmark “Telangana Employees Accountability and Monitoring of Parental Support Bill, 2026.”

Under this proposed legislation, employees from government, public, and private sectors who fail to support their dependent parents will face mandatory salary deductions. The rule specifies that 15% of the salary or ₹10,000 (whichever is lower) will be directly deducted.

The deducted amount will then be transferred to the parents’ bank accounts through designated officials, ensuring timely financial support.

This move is being seen as a significant step toward strengthening parental welfare and enforcing accountability among earning members of families.
