Apple has announced a major leadership transition as Tim Cook steps down as Chief Executive Officer, marking the end of a transformative era at the company.

The announcement has drawn widespread attention across the tech and business world, with several global leaders praising Cook’s long-standing impact on Apple’s growth, innovation, and global dominance.
Industry figures including Sam Altman, Warren Buffett, Cristiano Amon, and others have lauded Cook’s leadership and his contribution to shaping Apple into one of the world’s most valuable companies.

Sundar Pichai also took to X to congratulate Cook, calling it an “incredible run.” He wrote, “Congrats on an incredible run @tim_cook, always respected your deep commitment to Apple’s mission and best wishes in your new role!” He also extended his support to incoming CEO John Ternus, saying, “Look forward to working with John as well!”

Warren Buffett further praised Cook’s legacy, stating, “Apple would not be the Apple of today without Tim Cook. What he has done with Apple could not be done by anybody I’ve known.”
Following the announcement, Apple confirmed that John Ternus will take over as CEO effective September 1, 2026. Cook, however, clarified during an internal all-hands meeting that he will continue his journey with Apple as executive chairman.

“I’m excited to continue my journey at Apple as executive chairman. I am healthy, my energy is high, and I plan to be in this new role for a long time,” Tim Cook said.

The leadership transition marks a significant moment in Apple’s history, closing a remarkable 15-year tenure for Cook while opening a new chapter under John Ternus.
