Tollywood Gives Up, Forget Summer Releases!

Till the other day, there was a hope that at least some films would get a theatrical release in the first or second week of May but with today’s announcement of the lockdown extension until 3rd May, Tollywood has given it up. The entire summer season has gone now.

It is now official that all films that include Ram’s “Red”, Mythri’s “Uppena”, Anushka’s “Nishabdham”, Ravi Teja’s “Krack” have been moved to June, July, and August.

Don’t be surprised if some of these movies like Pawan Kalyan’s “Vakeel Saab” even shift to the Dussera season.

The Corona crisis has not only disrupted our lives and affected the economy badly but also put the business of Telugu films into complete disarray. The mounting interest rates on these projects will be a headache the producers need to grapple with.

It is estimated that Tollywood would lose more than Rs 300 crore due to this lockdown and reschedules of the releases.
