Trump Rules Out Nuclear Strike on Iran Amid Escalating Tensions

US President Donald Trump on Thursday said he would not use nuclear weapons in the ongoing tensions with Iran, claiming that the United States had already “totally” and “in a very conventional way” dealt significant damage without resorting to such measures.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said, “Why would I use a nuclear weapon? We’ve totally, in a very conventional way, decimated them without it.” He further added, “No, I wouldn’t use it. A nuclear weapon should never be allowed to be used by anybody.”

When asked how long he was willing to wait for a long-term peace agreement with Iran, Trump replied, “Don’t rush me,” adding that he wanted to secure “the best deal” possible. He noted that while an agreement could be reached immediately, he preferred one that would be “everlasting.”

Trump also commented on recent developments, suggesting that Iran may have strengthened its capabilities during a temporary ceasefire, but insisted the US military could respond swiftly. “Their navy is gone. Their air force is gone, their anti-aircraft is gone… maybe they loaded up a little bit during the two-week hiatus, but we’ll knock that out about one day if they did,” he said.

Earlier, Trump ordered the US Navy to take action against any Iranian boats allegedly placing mines in the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing “no hesitation” in enforcement. He also claimed that US naval units were already clearing the region and ordered operations to be intensified.

In a separate statement, Trump said the US had “total control” over the Strait of Hormuz and that no vessel could pass without approval, adding that the situation would remain “sealed up tight” until Iran reaches a deal.

His remarks came shortly after reports that Iran’s Revolutionary Guards intercepted two vessels for inspection in the region. Meanwhile, Iranian leaders rejected internal division claims made by Trump, insisting there are no “hardliners” or “moderates,” but only national unity under the Supreme Leader.

The exchange further escalates already heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran amid ongoing diplomatic uncertainty.
