Ram Gopal Varma appears to have taken a surprising U-turn on Dhurandhar 2. After initially praising the film as a game-changer in Indian cinema, the director has now voiced reservations about a crucial aspect of its narrative.

While RGV continues to appreciate the scale and technical craft of the film directed by Aditya Dhar, he has openly criticized the portrayal of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. According to him, the character as depicted on screen does not align with his understanding of the real-life figure.

RGV noted that while filmmakers may rely on their own sources, the version presented in the film feels questionable to him. He also suggested that Dawood Ibrahim may have stepped away from active criminal operations nearly two decades ago, which, in his view, raises doubts about the film’s narrative authenticity.

At the same time, he acknowledged the inherent challenge in verifying such subjects. With limited access to factual information, portrayals of figures like Dawood Ibrahim often remain speculative, making cinematic interpretations more subjective than definitive.

This shift in opinion has drawn attention, especially since RGV was among the film’s strongest supporters earlier.
