Venky Kudumula is one of the promising young filmmakers in Telugu cinema who once had the golden opportunity to collaborate with Megastar Chiranjeevi. Impressed by Bheeshma, Chiranjeevi personally reached out to Venky, showing interest in working with him. Excited by the opportunity, the director pitched an idea, but unfortunately, the project didn’t materialize.
During the promotions of Robinhood, Venky opened up about what went wrong.
“After Bheeshma, I developed a story for Chiranjeevi garu. When I first shared the idea, he was very excited. Being a huge fan of Chiranjeevi garu, I wanted the film to be extraordinary, so I took a lot of time refining the story and screenplay. However, it didn’t shape up as we had envisioned. I couldn’t meet his expectations, so I decided to step back and told him I’d come up with another concept,” he explained.
Despite the setback, Venky Kudumula remains hopeful about working with Chiranjeevi in the future. Even before projects with Anil Ravipudi, Vashishta, and Srikanth Odela gained traction, Chiranjeevi had initially shown interest in collaborating with Venky.
For now, the director is focused on Robinhood, starring Nithiin and Sreeleela, which is set for a grand release on March 28th.
