Nag’s Sankranthi 2027 Film Without Script Yet

Earlier this month, it was officially announced that the Soggade Chinni Nayana franchise will continue, with the next installment slated for release on January 15, 2027, as a Sankranthi special. However, beyond the release date, no major details were revealed.
According to industry sources, the project currently does not have a finalized story or director. The only clear idea so far is that Nagarjuna wants to return to a colorful rural backdrop filled with festive vibes — similar to the atmosphere that worked so well in Soggade Chinni Nayana and Bangarraju.
Director Kalyan Krishna, who helmed the earlier films in the franchise, is reportedly working on a story draft. At the same time, Nagarjuna has also asked Chandoo Mondeti to come up with a script. Chandoo, a known admirer of Nagarjuna, previously directed Savyasachi and Thandel with Naga Chaitanya. Interestingly, Thandel turned out to be one of Naga Chaitanya’s biggest career hits, which has reportedly boosted Nagarjuna’s confidence in the director.
Chandoo was earlier attached to direct Vayuputra, a 3D animated devotional epic based on the life of Lord Hanuman. The project, which was expected to be produced by Sithara Naga Vamsi, was announced soon after the success of Mahavatar Narasimha. However, rumors suggest that the film faced certain hurdles, leaving Chandoo currently free to explore other opportunities.
With competition intensifying for prime festive release windows, especially Sankranthi, it appears that production houses are rushing to lock dates even before finalizing stories or directors. The race to secure the 2027 Sankranthi slot has clearly begun well in advance.
