Mahavatar Parashuram Glimpse Gets Mixed Reactions

Mahavatar Narasimha turned out to be one of the biggest surprises in Indian cinema last year. Released without massive expectations, the film impressed audiences with its storytelling and visuals. Originally made in Kannada, it later expanded its reach through dubbed versions in multiple languages, eventually enjoying a strong theatrical run and reportedly collecting over ₹400 crore worldwide—an exceptional feat for an animated film.
The film’s success brought significant recognition to its creators, with Hombale Films stepping in to support its wider release and benefiting from its box office performance. Encouraged by the overwhelming response, the makers announced plans to build a full-fledged mythological franchise, exploring stories of iconic characters from Indian lore.
As part of this vision, the team recently unveiled Mahavatar Parashuram. Along with the announcement, a short glimpse was released to offer a first look at the project. However, the teaser has received mixed reactions from viewers.
A section of the audience felt that the visuals lacked originality, with some even questioning the quality of the animation. There has also been speculation about the possible use of artificial intelligence in creating certain visuals, especially given the recent surge of AI-generated mythological content circulating on social media.
This has led to some disappointment among fans, who expected the franchise to maintain the high standards set by Mahavatar Narasimha. At the same time, others believe it may be too early to judge the film based on a brief glimpse and remain optimistic that the final product will deliver a more polished experience.
Directed by Ashwin Kumar, Mahavatar Parashuram is currently slated for release in 2027. Despite the early criticism, the project continues to generate curiosity, with audiences keen to see how the franchise evolves from here.
