Venkatesh Daggubati alias Victory Venkatesh has reached another milestone in Telugu Film Industry. The versatile actor turned 54 on Saturday. He’s the star in his own right. Notwithstanding his age, he continues to charm the audiences. Be it families or youth, Venkatesh holds a sway in audiences’ heart. Of late, multi-starrers have become his game.

Be it Seethamma Vakitlo or Shadow or Masala or upcoming Gopala Gopala, Venky is teaming up with peers. In a career spanning over 28 years, Venky bagged several awards including Nandi. He’s perhaps the highest Nandi Award winner in Telugu as best actor. Debuted with Kaliyuga Pandavulu in the year 1986, which got him Nandi award for best male debut actor, Venky never looked back. 

He went on to bag Nandis as best actor for films like Swarna Kamalam, Prema, Dharma Chakram, Ganesh, Kalisundam Raa, Adavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule. Now, he’s reprising Paresh Rawal in Oh My God remake alongside Pawan. The combo is raising curiosity and the movie is due for release on Jan 14.

Acclaimed music composer-double Oscar winner AR Rahman is yet again going to give stiff competition in the Academy Award race. Out of total 114 scores in contention for a nomination in the Original Score category for the 87th Oscars, the “Madras Mozart” scored 3 entries. Rahman’s work for ‘Million Dollar Arm’, ‘The Hundred-Foot Journey’ and Indian film ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ are included in the long list released by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Saturday (IST). 

The shortlisted nominations for the prestigious awards will be announced on Jan 15, 2015, and the grand gala presentation ceremony will be held on Feb 22, 2015. Rahman had earlier delivered his twin win at the Academy Awards platform for Danny Boyle’s “Slumdog Millionaire” in 2009. 

Accolades were poured in for his best original score as also the best original song “Jai ho” from the same film, with lyrics penned by Gulzar. In 2011, he had received two nominations for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards for his original score in Boyle’s ‘127 Hours’ as well as original song “If I Rise” for the same movie. Will Rahman repeat his magic? We have to wait and see.

As we reported earlier, producer Bandla Ganesh has given 10 days holidays to “Temper” team, asserting the fact that he will not be able to have a Sankranthi release for sure. Though Tarak thought of resuming the shoot in just three days span post brother Janakiram’s death, family members have sought his support at home rather going on work.

We hear that plans are underway to release Kalyan Ram’s “Pataas” on Sankranthi eve to enthrall Nandamuri fans who will be missing out Temper. We have to wait for the official confirmation anyway.

Here is the sneak peek of hunk hero Rana Daggubati in epic film Rudhramadevi. Touted to be India’s first 3D stereoscopic historic film, Rana essays the role of prince Chalukya Veerabhadra whereas Anushka Shetty plays title role Rudhramadevi. Allu Arjun will be seen as warrior Gona Ganna Reddy and the film has ensemble cast like Nithya Menen, Catherine Tresa, Aditi Chengappa, Hamsa Nandini, Prakash Raj, Krishnam Raju and others. 

With Rana turning 30 on Sunday, director-producer Gunasekhar released the first look still of Rana from the film. Presently in the post-production phase, the makers are briskly making 3D conversions. If all goes well as per the plan, the movie will have a Jan release.

Yerineni Naveen, Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar (Thammudu) and CVM (Mohan) are the producers. Devi Sri Prasad will be composing the music.
