CPI State Secretary K Narayana said in Eluru that she should be sacked immediately and being an accused she cannot hold the portfolio of Home.

“How can the DGP salute a person who is accused in a case,” he asked and said adding that her continuation in the cabinet will send wrong signals to anti-social elements.

He demanded the Chief Minister to drop all the tainted ministers.

It is unfortunate that some of the ministers are backing the Home Minister and wanted her to continue, he said.

Meanwhile, TDP leader Revanth Reddy also said the Chief Minister should answer as to how he has been allowing tainted ministers to continue in the cabinet.

Speaking to reporters at the party headquarters, he said, the Chief Minister should take action against the ministers facing charges.

The severe pain in the legs has slowed down the padayatra of the TDP leader and doctors who attended on him said that he should take rest and it would aggravate if he continues the Vastunna Mee Kosam.

A special team of doctors from Hyderabad had conducted various tests on him at Kakarapalli near here, and asked him to halt the padayatra. He was advised to take rest on earlier occasions as well.

However, party sources said that Naidu wants to continue the padayatra. A decision would be taken after discussion with senior leader, TDP leader G Rammohan Rao said.

The petition filed by Jagan’s lawyers is likely to come up for hearing on Saturday or Monday.

It may be recalled that CBI had filed the fifth charge-sheet against Jagan four days ago. The agency named Sabita Indra Reddy as the fourth accused in the case.

Jagan was arrested on May 27. Though he tried for bail at several levels, he did not succeed. Last year when his bail plea came up before the Supreme Court, the supreme court while directing the CBI to complete its investigation by March 2013, told Jagan he could apply for bail then.

In this context, Jagan filed the fresh petition, on the plea that the CBI had not completed the investigation as directed. However, CBI is maintaining that no deadline was set for it to complete the investigation.

According to media reports, Mohan Babu tried to convince her of the need to strengthen Jagan’s hands, when he visited her with his family members. He reportedly told her that Congress was allowing CBI to harass its own leaders, so that it could fix Jagan deep in corruption cases.

The actor reportedly told her it would be better for all the former close associates of Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to come out and make a common front to fight against false cases. He told her that Jagan would surely be the Chief Minister in 2014 and she would once again be at the peak of her glory as she was during YSR rule.
