Prabhas’ Potential Cameo in “Singham Again” Sparks Excitement

Telugu cinema’s influence on Bollywood continues to expand, with films like “RRR” and “Pushpa” achieving unprecedented success. Now, rumors are circulating about another Tollywood superstar making his mark in the Hindi film industry. Prabhas, a beloved figure in the South, is reportedly set to make a guest appearance in the highly anticipated Bollywood action film “Singham Again.”
Directed by Rohit Shetty, “Singham Again” features Ajay Devgn in the titular role. The buzz surrounding Prabhas’ cameo has been fueled by a cryptic post from the film’s director, hinting at the inclusion of a special guest star without explicitly naming the actor. The director also shared a video featuring a Scorpio, a vehicle often associated with Prabhas, further intensifying speculation.
Fans of the actor have gone into a frenzy, connecting the Scorpio imagery and Prabhas’ signature theme song from “Kalki” to the potential cameo. If confirmed, this would solidify Prabhas’ position as a pan-Indian star. However, there’s also a possibility that the guest role could belong to Kollywood superstar Surya, given the “Singam” franchise’s immense popularity in Tamil Nadu.
“Singham Again” is the third installment in the popular franchise, boasting a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, Kareena Kapoor, and Deepika Padukone. The film has been delayed from its original August release date to Diwali this year due to production challenges and VFX work. The anticipation for the film, especially with the potential addition of Prabhas, is at an all-time high.

150 kg opium poppy seized in Kandahar, nine held

Kandahar, Sep 3 (IANS) Counter-narcotics police during a series of operations in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province have seized 150 kg opium poppy and taken nine people into custody on the charge of involvement in the drug business, provincial police spokesman Mullah Asadullah Jamshid said on Tuesday.
The contraband, according to the official, has been seized in the wake of operations covering the provincial capital Kandahar city and several districts recently. The police have arrested nine smugglers for their involvement in the illegal drug business, Xinhua news agency reported.
The police have also destroyed six acres of poppy cultivation during the operations which lasted a couple of days, the official said.
Opium poppy has been largely used in manufacturing heroin. The caretaker Afghan government banned poppy cultivation, and its processing to drug and drug trafficking in April 2022.
In similar operations, the police seized more than 1 tonne of opium poppy and arrested two persons on the charge of involvement in drug business from Badakhshan province last week.
In April 2022, Afghanistan’s de-facto authorities banned all cultivation of opium poppy under strict new laws. It saw poppy cultivation drop by around 95 per cent from 233,000 hectares at the end of 2022 to 10,800 hectares in 2023.
Opium is an essential ingredient for manufacturing the street drug heroin, and the class of medical prescription opioids which millions rely on for pain medication nationwide.

New offences introduced for interacting with crocodiles in Australia

Sydney, Sep 3 (IANS) People in the Australian state of Queensland will face fines for unintentionally feeding, and knowingly remaining close to, crocodiles under new laws announced on Tuesday aimed at reducing attacks.
Leanne Linard, Queensland’s minister for the environment, announced a government crackdown on feeding and interfering with crocodiles, Xinhua news agency reported.
Under new laws that are effective immediately, anyone who unintentionally feeds a crocodile by discarding food in a way that attracts them to a public place such as a boat ramp, jetty or campsite will be fined a maximum of $4,372.2.
Additionally, anyone who knowingly remains near a crocodile on land will be fined up to $10,930.5.
The existing fine for intentionally disturbing or feeding crocodiles in the state has been increased from a maximum of $4,372.2 to $17,729.3 and the maximum penalty for interfering with a crocodile trap has been raised from a fine of $13,115.5 to $17,729.3.
The state government has also given conservation officers the power to order people to move away from crocodiles to avoid any potential human-crocodile interactions.
Linard said the reforms would help keep people safe in areas inhabited by crocodiles.
“People may think feeding Crocs or interacting with them is fun or harmless, but experience shows that doing so increases the risk to public safety,” she said in a statement.
There have been three fatal crocodile attacks on humans in Australia in 2024, all in the country’s north.
David Hogbin, a 40-year-old doctor, was dragged into a river by a crocodile while walking with his wife near the far north Queensland town of Cooktown in August. His remains were found inside a 4.9-metre male saltwater crocodile that was euthanised by authorities days later.
In the Northern Territory (NT), which shares a border with Queensland, a 16-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl were killed by crocodiles in separate incidents in April and July.
A three-year monitoring programme that ended in 2019 estimated that there were between 20,000 and 30,000 crocodiles in Queensland, with most found in the state’s far north.
Bob Katter, a federal Senator representing Queensland, has repeatedly called for crocodile populations in the state to be culled to prevent attacks.
