Mammootty Reveals the Friend Who Gave Him His Legendary Name

A few years ago, Malayalam cinema fans often wondered how Mohammed Kutty came to be known as Mammootty. Over time, many stories circulated, with some people even claiming they were responsible for giving him the iconic name. Yet, the truth remained a mystery for years.
At a public event in Kerala, legendary actor Mammootty finally decided to set the record straight. To everyone’s surprise, he openly introduced the friend who had actually given him the name Mammootty. The audience was not expecting such a personal revelation.
On stage, Mammootty shared a humorous memory from his college days. Back then, he used to tell his friends that his name was Omar Sharif, after the internationally acclaimed actor whom he greatly admired. One day, however, his secret came out in an amusing way—he accidentally dropped his identity card. When his friends saw it, they discovered his real name was Mohammed Kutty. One of them immediately laughed and remarked that he was clearly not Omar Sharif. That moment became a memorable turning point in his life.
Mammootty then pointed to the audience and introduced the very friend who had given him the name “Mammootty.” The friend, identified as Sashidharan, was met with loud cheers and applause. Many in the crowd even chanted slogans to honor him.
The actor also addressed the numerous rumors surrounding his name over the years, noting that many had claimed credit, even in newspapers. But he made it clear that only Sashidharan deserved the recognition. Mammootty added that he had kept this secret for years, waiting for the right moment to share it with the world.
Pawan Kalyan’s Next Film with Surender Reddy Rumored for Sankranti Release

Given how actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan’s recent films have faced production delays due to his political responsibilities as Deputy Chief Minister, it is still too early to predict timelines for his upcoming projects with certainty.
That said, rumors continue to swirl about his next film. It is widely reported that Pawan Kalyan will reunite with director Surender Reddy for a big-budget project produced by Ram Talluri. Fan anticipation is already high, as audiences are eager to see him back on the big screen.
Although the untitled film has yet to be officially launched and no shooting schedule has been confirmed, unverified reports suggest the team may target the highly anticipated Sankranti festival next year for release. There are also claims that the film could be launched around Ugadi next month.
Close sources to Pawan Kalyan, however, have clarified that nothing is finalized due to uncertainty over his availability, given his ongoing political commitments. While there is sufficient time for a Sankranti release, coordinating bulk shooting dates for Pawan will be challenging. Even if schedules are arranged, there is no guarantee that the actor will complete his portions within the planned timeframe. Additionally, Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film with director Bobby is also aiming for a Sankranti release, which could further affect Pawan Kalyan’s release plans.
Meanwhile, speculation has emerged that Fauzi fame Imanvi has been finalized as the female lead, though the team has remained tight-lipped on these reports.

Samantha’s Comeback and Career Choices After Marriage

It has been two and a half years since Samantha last appeared as a heroine on the silver screen. After Khushi, she spent some time in the United States and focused on her personal life. She made a brief guest appearance in Shubham, a film she produced, and then largely stayed away from acting. During this period, her marriage to Bollywood director-producer Raj Nidimoru went viral online, capturing public attention.
Currently, Samantha is starring in Maa Inti Bangaram, a female-led film that she is also producing herself. The project is scheduled to release later this year, and fans are curious about what Samantha’s career trajectory will look like post this film. Questions abound about whether she will continue to take bold, leading roles and how she will balance her personal life with her professional choices.
Samantha started her career with bold performances. Her intimate scenes with Naga Chaitanya created a stir early on. However, as she matured as an actress, she consciously moved away from such scenes. Her on-screen presence has largely focused on roles that offer substance, even within commercial films. She did make a bold appearance in the song Oo Antava Mava from Pushpa: The Rise, which created pan-India buzz, but immediately decided not to pursue similar glamor-focused roles further—a choice that surprised many of her fans.
In an industry where competing in the glamour world often requires taking on daring roles, Samantha has charted a different path. Early on, she experimented with Bollywood, embracing outfits and styles suited to the culture there. She also worked in web series like Citadel, taking on challenging roles without compromise. Yet, her marriage to Raj Nidimoru and her focus on personal life has brought some changes, and it remains to be seen how she will navigate future projects.
At present, Samantha resides in Mumbai, occasionally visiting Hyderabad for work or personal reasons. Fans are keenly watching how she will balance her evolving personal life with her career ambitions in the coming years.
Yash Breaks Records in Telugu Market, Surpasses Rajinikanth with Toxic

Kannada superstar Yash has reportedly overtaken Tamil icon Rajinikanth in the Telugu market, with his upcoming Telugu-dubbed film Toxic fetching a record-breaking price. According to leading distributors, the film has been sold for a whopping Rs 105 crore (recoverable advance) in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, making it the highest-ever price for a dubbed movie in the two Telugu states.
“In comparison, Rajinikanth’s last release Coolie was traded for around Rs 52 crore here. Clearly, Yash has surpassed the Tamil superstar in the dubbed film segment,” a source revealed.
Trade analysts point out that Yash’s phenomenal success with KGF and KGF 2, which together collected over Rs 120 crore in the Telugu states, significantly boosted his market presence. “KGF turned Yash into a superstar among Telugu audiences. The films enjoyed massive repeat value and created a huge fan base for him here,” said a distributor.
With Toxic being positioned as a high-octane action entertainer, expectations are at an all-time high. “Yash returns in a fiery avatar, and the film is expected to open big when it releases in March. Telugu distributors didn’t hesitate to invest heavily, breaching the Rs 100-crore mark,” the source added.
While Rajinikanth still commands a strong following in the Telugu states—with Jailer collecting over Rs 45 crore and multi-starrer Coolie also fetching a strong price—the current trend clearly indicates that it is Yash’s season in the Telugu market.
