Nagarjuna Expands Annapurna Studios Into Distribution

Veteran star and producer Nagarjuna Akkineni has formally stepped into film distribution across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with ambitious plans to scale up operations in the coming years. According to industry sources, Annapurna Studios has already established a distribution office in Hyderabad and is now gearing up to open another in Visakhapatnam, signaling a major expansion across both Telugu states.
“Nagarjuna runs a production house that is over five decades old and is now looking to increase film output while simultaneously strengthening the distribution network,” a source reveals. The actor-producer is said to be financially strong and well-equipped to take on established distributors, potentially reshaping the competitive landscape.
The distribution market in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is already undergoing significant changes. Leading banners such as Mythri Movie Makers and Sithara Entertainments have formed powerful syndicates, making the business increasingly competitive. Trade observers believe the fight for distribution supremacy is only set to intensify in the coming years.
At present, Dil Raju continues to be a dominant force in the Nizam and Vizag regions. After Mythri Movie Makers made a strong entry into distribution, many producers began aligning themselves with Mythri Film Distributors, particularly in the Nizam belt. Meanwhile, seasoned players like Asian Suniel and Suresh Babu continue to handle distribution for select projects.
Dil Raju has been consistently distributing films produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi of Sithara Entertainments. However, in a potentially game-changing development, Naga Vamsi is reportedly considering a partnership with Annapurna Studios, which has recently launched its distribution office in the Nizam region. Given Naga Vamsi’s packed release calendar and his reputation as one of the most successful producers in Telugu cinema, such a move could significantly dent Dil Raju’s long-standing dominance in the territory—despite the close relationship they share.
Industry insiders suggest that the growing trend of producers turning distributors is set to challenge established heavyweights like Suresh Babu, Allu Aravind, Sunil Narang, and others. If this momentum continues, the Telugu film distribution business could soon witness a major reshuffle, ushering in a new era of competition and consolidation.
Rashmika Mandanna Expands Her Bollywood Footprint

Rashmika Mandanna continues to strike a fine balance across Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil cinema, steadily expanding her presence beyond regional boundaries. The actress has recently wrapped up shooting for her upcoming Bollywood film Cocktail 2, in which she stars opposite Shahid Kapoor. The film is expected to hit theatres soon.
Interestingly, even before Cocktail 2 makes its release, Rashmika has reportedly signed another Hindi project, once again sharing screen space with Shahid Kapoor. The yet-untitled romantic entertainer will be directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, known for Badhaai Ho and Maidaan. As per reports, both Shahid and Rashmika are officially locked for the project, which will be jointly produced by Jio Studios and The Vermilion World. The film is scheduled to go on floors in the second half of this year.
On the Telugu front, Rashmika has recently joined the sets of the highly anticipated Allu Arjun–Atlee project. She has earlier worked with Allu Arjun in the blockbuster Pushpa franchise and delivered memorable hits like Geeta Govindam alongside Vijay Deverakonda. She is also set to reunite with Vijay Deverakonda for the action film Ranabaali.
In addition to these commercial ventures, Rashmika has been consciously exploring performance-oriented roles. She recently featured in the female-centric film The Girlfriend and will next be seen in Mysaa, where she reportedly plays a challenging, author-backed character that places strong emphasis on performance.
Commenting on the growing inclination of South actresses toward Bollywood, director Kona Venkat remarked, “Hindi films enjoy wider reach and global visibility compared to regional cinema. The Hindi-speaking audience is much larger, and when Telugu actresses appear in Hindi films, their fan base expands significantly. This also opens doors to major brand endorsements, which today often pay more than acting fees.”
He further noted that actresses like Sreeleela, Keerthy Suresh, and Sai Pallavi are also exploring Bollywood with diverse roles, adding, “That’s the best thing they are doing.”
With a strong lineup across industries, Rashmika Mandanna appears well on track to strengthen her position as one of the most versatile and sought-after actresses in Indian cinema today.
Funky Could End Vishwak Sen’s Flop Streak

Talented actor Vishwak Sen is keen to put an end to his recent run of box-office disappointments and score a much-needed hit. Despite experimenting with unconventional scripts and portraying quirky characters, consistent success has eluded him due to lukewarm audience reception.
Hope now rests on his upcoming film Funky, which appears to have all the ingredients to deliver him a major breather. Directed by Anudeep, the film is slated for release on February 13 and has been generating strong buzz over the past few days. The lively promotional campaign and laugh-out-loud trailers have received an overwhelmingly positive response from audiences.
Funky is positioned as a youthful romantic entertainer blended with slapstick comedy. Known for his sharp sense of humor, director Anudeep has a knack for delivering razor-sharp one-liners that can trigger instant laughter in theatres. The teasers and trailer, packed with high-energy antics and quirky moments, have created healthy pre-release hype.
With last Friday’s releases failing to make any impact at the box office, Funky finds itself in a favorable position with a largely open run ahead, as no major films are scheduled for release in the coming weeks. The combination of Vishwak Sen and Anudeep, along with the presence of the popular Kayadu Lohar, is expected to attract younger audiences in good numbers.
A positive word of mouth during the Valentine’s Day weekend could prove crucial in setting the film up for a strong theatrical run. Adding to the positives are the backing of reputed banner Sitara Entertainments and the energetic music composed by chartbuster sensation Bheems Ceciroleo. If Funky manages encouraging reports from its first show itself, the opening weekend collections could be strong enough to push the film into the profit zone.
Unchecked Power Puts Andhra Pradesh Democracy at Risk

Power has always been the biggest attraction in politics. However, when power becomes unchecked and limitless, it turns dangerous. This is exactly what many believe is unfolding in Andhra Pradesh today.
Since coming to power, the ruling dispensation appears to have shifted its focus from governance to systematically targeting the opposition. Instead of healthy political debate and democratic engagement, the political landscape is increasingly marked by intimidation, attacks, and open displays of violence.
Recent incidents involving assaults on opposition leaders and damage to their properties have triggered serious concern among citizens. What is even more alarming is the apparent role of the system itself. Law enforcement agencies and authorities—meant to uphold law and order—are increasingly perceived as silent spectators. This perceived inaction has instilled fear among the public and eroded confidence in democratic institutions.
Democracy can function effectively only when power is balanced and the opposition is allowed to operate freely without fear. When those in power begin to behave like emperors, believing they are beyond accountability, society inevitably pays a heavy price.
The current situation in Andhra Pradesh serves as a clear warning sign. If unchecked power continues to dominate politics, violence will intensify, dissent will be crushed, and democracy itself will be pushed into dangerous territory.
Prashanth Neel Breaks His Dark Formula with Dragon

Prashanth Neel has carved a distinct identity in Indian cinema with his gritty, dark-toned visual storytelling. From KGF to Salaar, his films have consistently thrived on intense atmospheres, heavy shadows, and raw, brooding worlds. This signature style became a defining element of his brand, perfectly complementing his high-voltage narratives and larger-than-life drama.
However, in a surprising shift, Prashanth Neel is now stepping out of his comfort zone for the first time in his career. His upcoming film with NTR, tentatively titled Dragon, is being shot in full color with a conventional visual format, marking a clear departure from the dark aesthetic he is known for.
Industry insiders view this move as a conscious effort by the filmmaker to expand his creative range and break away from any sense of predictability. By embracing a brighter and more mainstream visual treatment, Neel appears keen on exploring a broader cinematic canvas while still retaining his trademark intensity in storytelling.
Naturally, fans are curious to see how Prashanth Neel blends his signature narrative aggression with a more colorful, commercial presentation. Dragon now stands as one of the most anticipated projects, not just for NTR’s presence, but also for what could be a defining evolution in Prashanth Neel’s filmmaking journey.
The Raja Saab Fallout: Fans Question Prabhas’ Choices

The Raja Saab not only ended up as a massive box-office disappointment but also triggered an unprecedented wave of negativity toward Prabhas. Criticism poured in from all directions—mainstream media, social media platforms, and even sections of his own fan base. While the film’s theatrical run was cut short and quickly forgotten, the backlash surrounding it has refused to fade.
In fact, the trolling has intensified following the film’s OTT premiere. With a wider audience now accessing the movie on digital platforms, fresh rounds of online criticism have emerged, targeting both Prabhas and director Maruthi. Viewers are dissecting the film far more harshly, pointing out flaws that perhaps went unnoticed during its theatrical run.
A section of Prabhas’ fans has gone a step further, openly urging the star to stay away from similar projects and, more importantly, to stop collaborating with what they describe as “mediocre directors” like Maruthi. They are questioning what prompted Prabhas to place his trust in a filmmaker whose career has largely been defined by mid-range successes, with Bhale Bhale Magadivoy often cited as his most notable work.
Fans are also drawing comparisons with Allu Arjun, noting that despite starting their careers around the same time and sharing a long-standing friendship with Maruthi, the director has never helmed a film starring the Pushpa actor. This contrast has only fueled further debate about Prabhas’ decision-making.
Many believe that the failure of The Raja Saab—and the relentless trolling that followed—should serve as a wake-up call for Prabhas. According to them, it’s time for the actor to take this feedback seriously and reassess his choices, particularly when it comes to scripts and directors, to protect both his stardom and credibility going forward.
Rajamouli’s Varanasi Promises a Grand Visual Experience

SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi is back in the spotlight, this time for its ambitious and innovative visual presentation. The filmmaker has confirmed that the movie will primarily be released in CinemaScope with a 1.90:1 aspect ratio, while select and crucial portions will expand into a wider 1.43:1 frame, offering audiences a truly immersive cinematic experience.
Following this clarification, several moviegoers raised concerns about possible black bars or blackouts during the aspect ratio shifts. Addressing this, Rajamouli made it clear that there will be no blackouts whatsoever. Instead of abrupt cuts, the screen will seamlessly expand and contract, ensuring a smooth and distraction-free viewing experience.
This technique, though rare, has been used earlier in select premium formats, where the frame gradually expands rather than switching suddenly. In Varanasi, the director plans to begin the film in scope and progressively widen the frame as the narrative builds toward the interval. The same visual pattern will continue in the second half, with the frame expanding and contracting based on the scale and emotional weight of the scenes, culminating in a grand climax.
For instance, in 70mm GT IMAX, transitions from 1.90:1 to 1.43:1 demand extreme precision. When executed perfectly, such transitions can feel majestic and elevate the theatrical experience. On non-GT IMAX screens, the film will be presented in a fully filled container format for both IMAX and CinemaScope, ensuring visual consistency across theatres.
With this bold visual experiment, Varanasi stands out as a rare and exciting cinematic endeavor, further reinforcing SS Rajamouli’s reputation for constantly pushing the boundaries of Indian filmmaking.
With Love Shines Big at Box Office

Kollywood’s small-budget youthful drama With Love is making impressive waves at the box office during its opening weekend. Despite releasing without any festival advantage and facing stiff competition from multiple new films, the romantic coming-of-age drama has surprised the trade with strong early numbers.
According to trade estimates, With Love has collected ₹3.53 crore net in just two days and is poised for further growth on Sunday. The film, starring Tourist Family fame Abishan Jeevinth and Malayalam actress Answara Ranjan in the lead roles, opened to a decent ₹1.60 crore net on Friday.
Positive word of mouth from audiences and encouraging reviews from critics played a key role in boosting collections on Saturday. The film witnessed a notable jump, earning ₹1.93 crore net on Day 2, taking the total past the ₹3.5 crore mark. Viewers have particularly appreciated the charming performances of the lead pair and the heartfelt storytelling by debut director Madan.
While the film has a few underwhelming moments, its emotional connect and relatable narrative have resonated well with moviegoers. If the upward trend continues on Sunday, With Love is set to register an excellent opening weekend—especially impressive considering its modest budget and relatively new cast.
