Saudi Arabia Begins 2026 Hajj Preparations with Visa Issuance
Saudi Arabia has officially begun preparations for the 2026 Hajj, with visa issuance starting on February 8 as part of a structured operational rollout. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah had earlier published an official calendar, reflecting a push to complete key arrangements well ahead of pilgrims’ arrival. Authorities say the accelerated schedule is aimed at improving coordination and planning among participating countries. Preparations for the 2026 Hajj season (1447 AH) began as early as June 8, 2025 (12 Dhu Al Hijjah 1446 AH), when preliminary planning documents were circulated to Hajj affairs offices worldwide.
In early Safar, these offices received detailed data on camps at the holy sites via the Nusk Masar digital platform, allowing for thorough review and logistical preparation. Contracting for accommodation and essential services commenced on 1 Rabi Al Awwal 1447 AH, while October 12, 2025, was set as the cut-off to conclude preparatory meetings, finalize operational data, and open pilgrim registration in participating nations. During Jumada Al Awwal, the ministry formalized major service agreements and held a Hajj services exhibition to enhance coordination between public authorities and private-sector partners.
Entering the final phase in early 2026, contracts for accommodation in Mecca and Medina, as well as transport and services at the holy sites, were scheduled for completion in January. Visa processing officially opened on February 8, with the next stage involving the finalization of visas and submission of pilgrims’ pre-arrival readiness data through March. The first batches of pilgrims are expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia on April 18, 2026 (1 Dhu Al Qadah 1447 AH), marking the beginning of the final operational stretch before Hajj.
Officials have emphasized strict adherence to the announced schedule to ensure infrastructure and services are fully prepared ahead of arrivals. All contracts covering services for international pilgrims have been completed, and accommodation arrangements in Mecca have been finalized through the Nusk platform. To date, approximately 750,000 pilgrims have registered for the 2026 season, including around 30,000 who secured packages directly from their home countries. About 485 camps have been assigned to international pilgrims, and 73 Hajj affairs offices have fulfilled their primary contractual obligations.
US Expands Visa Bond Program to 38 Countries
The United States has significantly expanded its controversial Visa Bond Pilot Program, tightening entry rules for visitors from 38 countries and placing a refundable cash bond at the center of its compliance strategy for short-term travel. Under the updated framework, foreign nationals from select countries applying for B1/B2 business or tourist visas may now be required to deposit $5,000, $10,000, or $15,000 before entering the US. The bond requirement applies to citizens or nationals of listed countries who are otherwise eligible for a B1/B2 visa. Being eligible for a visa does not exempt an applicant from posting a bond if directed. The bond amount—$5,000, $10,000, or $15,000—is determined during the visa interview based on a risk assessment by the consular officer. The State Department has stressed that paying a bond does not guarantee visa issuance and applicants should only make payments when explicitly instructed by a consular officer.
Applicants must submit Form I-352 (Immigration Bond) only after being directed to do so, and payment is to be made exclusively through Pay.gov, the official US government electronic payment portal. Payments made through third-party websites or agents are not recognized and will not be the responsibility of the US government. Travelers must also enter and exit the United States through designated ports of entry. Violating this requirement could result in denied entry or an exit that is not properly recorded, potentially breaching the bond. Designated ports currently include Boston Logan, John F. Kennedy, Washington Dulles, Newark Liberty, Atlanta, Chicago O’Hare, Los Angeles, Toronto Pearson, and Montréal-Trudeau, with additional ports to be added on a rolling basis.
The bond is automatically refunded if the traveler leaves the US on or before the authorized stay period, does not enter the US before the visa expires, or is denied admission at a US port of entry. However, cases where the bond terms may have been breached, such as overstaying, failing to depart, or applying to adjust status or claim asylum, will be referred by DHS to USCIS for determination.

“Alia was extremely excited about the project,” reveals a source close to the development. “However, after Saiyaara with Aneet Padda gained traction, Maddock Films shifted focus toward building a female superhero universe around her. That’s how Shakti Shalini came into existence, while Chamunda was pushed to the back burner.”
The source further adds that these changes followed the underperformance of Alia’s female-led film Jigra, produced by Karan Johar, at the box office. Additionally, her project Alpha with Yash Raj Films was postponed indefinitely, further complicating her lineup.
