Realme P4 Power bets big on battery life with 10,001mAh cell

Share

The Chinese handset maker is set to launch the Realme P4 Power in India on January 29, 2026, positioning it around a massive 10,001mAh battery—more than double the capacity that has become standard in the mass-market smartphone segment. The move reflects what the company sees as a clear shift in consumer preferences.

In an interview with Business Today, Francis Wong, Chief Marketing Officer of Realme India, said users are increasingly moving away from an obsession with ultra-fast charging and instead want phones that can last comfortably through an entire day.

“The real pain point isn’t charging speed, it’s battery size. Consumers don’t want to charge frequently, no matter how fast it is. They want to charge once at night and have a full day of power,” Wong said.

A power-first smartphone

The P4 Power is being positioned as a “power beast” in a market long dominated by smartphones with 5,000mAh batteries. Despite housing one of the largest batteries ever seen in a mainstream phone, Realme claims the device will maintain a slim, single-digit thickness profile.

According to Wong, managing battery size without compromising form factor was the biggest engineering challenge.

“The biggest challenge was battery thickness.”

To overcome this, Realme turned to next-generation silicon–carbon battery technology, which improves energy density and allows larger capacities without a proportional increase in size.

“We relied on next-generation silicon-carbon battery technology, which improves energy density and reduces battery size,” he added.

Fast charging still in play

While battery capacity is the headline feature, Realme has not abandoned fast charging. The P4 Power supports 80W fast charging, which the company says can charge the phone to 50% in about 36 minutes, with a full charge taking roughly 85 minutes.

For a device with a 10,001mAh battery, Wong described these figures as “quite decent.”

Targeting students and heavy users

Realme is pitching the P4 Power squarely at heavy users, particularly students who spend long hours on their phones for gaming, entertainment and online learning.

“The phone is for heavy users, especially students who spend a lot of time on their phones,” Wong said.

The company also plans to broaden its large-battery portfolio in the coming months.

“We will be launching more 8,000mAh and 9,000mAh phones, providing users with greater options across segments,” he added.

Battery health as a key differentiator

Beyond sheer capacity, Realme is also focusing on battery longevity, an important concern for Indian consumers who typically use their phones for several years.

Wong said the P4 Power will ship with a battery health guarantee.

“If battery health drops below 80% within four years, we provide a free battery replacement. We’re confident because this battery is designed to last up to 1,600 charge cycles,” he said.

According to Realme, the larger battery itself helps preserve long-term health by reducing charging frequency.

“Because it’s a 10,000mAh battery, users charge it less frequently. That’s how it maintains long-term health,” Wong explained.

Value-for-money positioning

The Realme P4 Power will be positioned as a value-for-money, online-focused smartphone, a strategy Wong said helps the company keep pricing aggressive.

While the final price has not yet been disclosed, Realme has indicated that the device will be kept accessible to its core audience, reinforcing the brand’s push to combine long battery life with affordability in India’s highly competitive smartphone market.

Netflix Turns Mobile App Into Reel-Style Discovery Platform

Share

Netflix has announced a major redesign of its mobile application as it looks to boost daily user engagement and directly compete with social media platforms such as YouTube Shorts and Instagram.

The company revealed the upcoming changes during its fourth-quarter earnings call on January 20, signalling a strategic shift in how users interact with Netflix on smartphones. Rather than functioning primarily as a static catalogue of films and television shows, the redesigned app will focus on dynamic, interactive content discovery.

Everything Is a Reel

At the heart of the redesign is the deeper integration of vertical, swipeable video feeds. Netflix has been testing short-form video previews since May 2025, but the new interface will make this format central to the mobile experience.

These reel-like feeds will surface trending titles, personalised recommendations, and short previews designed to mirror the fast-paced browsing behaviour popularised by social media platforms.

Netflix Co-CEO Greg Peters said the updated interface is intended to support the company’s long-term growth strategy and position the platform for the next decade of expansion. Features such as video podcasts, interactive prompts, and bite-sized content previews are expected to encourage users to open the app daily, even when they are not planning to watch full-length shows or films.

Shifting the Competition

The move reflects Netflix’s growing focus on capturing “attention share” as competition intensifies from platforms like YouTube and Instagram, which dominate mobile viewing habits. Although Netflix remains the world’s largest subscription streaming service—with more than 325 million paid subscribers as of late 2025—it is now prioritising habitual engagement over occasional viewing.

Alongside short-form video, Netflix is expanding into new content formats. The platform recently introduced its first original video podcasts and has partnered with Spotify and iHeartMedia to integrate established podcast libraries.

The redesigned mobile interface is expected to roll out globally later in 2026. Following last year’s overhaul of its TV app, the mobile revamp underscores Netflix’s broader ambition to blend traditional streaming with the high-frequency interaction model of social media platforms.

New Zealand Gains Ground as Study-Abroad Hub for 2026

Share

New Zealand is steadily strengthening its position as a preferred study-abroad destination, as policy reforms, globally ranked universities and clearer post-study career pathways reshape how international students evaluate their options for 2026 and beyond.

According to insights shared by Mayank Maheshwari, Co-Founder & COO of University Living, the country is increasingly being viewed as a balanced proposition that combines academic credibility, safety, quality of life and realistic employment outcomes. He notes that New Zealand’s appeal now extends beyond its universities to a broader ecosystem that links education with work opportunities and long-term mobility.

Student visa reforms improve affordability and employability

A major catalyst behind this shift is the revision of student visa work rules. Under updated regulations, eligible international students can now work up to 25 hours per week during teaching periods, an increase from the earlier 20-hour limit. The change forms part of New Zealand’s International Education Going for Growth Plan, aimed at boosting enrolments and enhancing the sector’s economic contribution.

The higher work-hour cap applies to students enrolled in secondary schools, universities and approved study-abroad or exchange programmes, while full-time work remains limited to scheduled academic breaks. Students holding older 20-hour visas can apply for a variation of conditions or a new visa to access the increased limit.

Maheshwari highlights that the move directly addresses two of the biggest student concerns — rising living costs and the need for local work experience — while strengthening New Zealand’s competitiveness against destinations such as Australia, Canada and the UK.

Stricter quality oversight from 2026

Alongside increased flexibility, New Zealand is also tightening regulatory oversight. From 2026, student visa settings will be more closely linked to education providers that meet upgraded quality benchmarks. The objective is to protect international students, improve academic outcomes and ensure stronger alignment between education and employment pathways.

This dual strategy of expansion paired with stricter quality assurance signals a long-term commitment to sustainable growth and institutional credibility.

Housing remains the biggest cost challenge

Accommodation continues to be the primary pressure point for international students, particularly in major cities such as Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Housing typically accounts for 50–55% of monthly living expenses, with students paying approximately NZ$880 to NZ$1,200 per month for accommodation. Overall monthly living costs in major cities range between NZ$1,600 and NZ$2,400, covering food, utilities, transport and internet.

While universities and private developers are expanding purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA), demand continues to outpace supply during peak intake periods.

Globally ranked universities reinforce academic credibility

New Zealand’s higher education system operates under the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF), ensuring global recognition of degrees and diplomas. Its universities continue to perform consistently in international rankings, reinforcing the country’s academic standing.

Top-ranked New Zealand universities for 2026 include:

University of Auckland – QS #65 | THE #156

University of Otago – QS #197 | THE 351–400

Massey University – QS #230 | THE 501–600

Victoria University of Wellington – QS #240 | THE 401–500

University of Canterbury – QS #261 | THE 601–800

University of Waikato – QS #281 | THE 401–500

Lincoln University – QS #407 | THE 501–600

Auckland University of Technology – QS #410 | THE 501–600

Post-study work and India-specific advantages

Post-study work rights remain a central attraction, offering graduates time to gain local experience and explore residence pathways, adding predictability to study-to-career transitions.

For Indian students, New Zealand has recently eased skilled migration processes by adding several Indian qualifications to its “exempt from assessment” list. This reduces paperwork for future work or residence applications, making long-term planning more straightforward.

Maheshwari concludes that New Zealand’s growing advantage lies in its balanced offering — strong academics, a safe and multicultural environment, realistic work rights and transparent pathways beyond graduation — positioning it as an increasingly compelling choice for international students looking beyond 2026.

US Introduces FIFA Pass to Fast-Track World Cup 2026 Fan Visas

Share

1. Fifa Pass: Priority Visa Program

Official Name: Fifa Prioritised Appointment Scheduling System (Fifa Pass).

Purpose: To give confirmed World Cup ticket holders priority access to visa interview slots, reducing wait times for non-immigrant visas (e.g., B1/B2 visitor visas).

Launch: Announced in November by President Trump; went live Tuesday.

Scope: Mainly targets countries where visa appointment backlogs could prevent fans from attending.

Important: Priority scheduling does not guarantee visa approval. Applicants still undergo full security screening and vetting.

State Department statement highlights:

Applicants in 80% of countries can now secure interviews in less than 60 days.

At the appointment, applicants must prove eligibility and intent to follow US laws.

2. Visa Waiver Program (VWP) Countries

Fans from VWP countries (e.g., UK, Japan, Australia, much of Europe) do not need Fifa Pass.

They can travel visa-free for up to 90 days but must obtain an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization).

3. Immigrant Visa Suspension

Effective Date: January 21.

Scope: Suspension applies only to immigrant visas from 75 countries.

Impact: Non-immigrant visas (tourists, athletes, media, family members) are not affected.

Implication: Fans from affected countries can still apply for visitor visas to attend the World Cup.

4. Countries Affected

Qualified for 2026 World Cup (and on the 75-country immigrant visa pause list):
Algeria, Brazil, Cape Verde, Colombia, Egypt, Ghana, Haiti, Iran, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Uruguay, Uzbekistan

Still in qualification contention:
Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, DR Congo, Iraq, Jamaica, Kosovo, North Macedonia

5. Key Takeaways

The Fifa Pass eases logistical hurdles for international fans but does not compromise security.

Non-immigrant travel for the World Cup is safe even for countries affected by the immigrant visa pause.

Fans from VWP countries have a simpler, faster process via ESTA.

Rashmika Mandanna Stays Mum on Wedding Rumors

Share

In a recent interview, actress Rashmika Mandanna was once again questioned about the persistent rumors surrounding her wedding, including speculation about the date and venue. It is well known that the actress got engaged to Vijay Deverakonda last year, which has only intensified public curiosity.

Responding to the query, the Pushpa 2 actress chose to remain diplomatic and non-committal. She pointed out that such speculation has been circulating for nearly four years, with people repeatedly asking the same questions. “The truth is, I will speak about it when it’s supposed to be spoken about. When it’s meant to be spoken about, we will speak about it,” Rashmika said.

By neither confirming nor denying the wedding plans, Rashmika’s response has only added fuel to the ongoing buzz among fans and media, rather than putting the rumors to rest.

On the work front, Rashmika was seen in Chhaava and The Girlfriend last year. She has several interesting projects lined up, with Mysaa being one of her upcoming films.

Family Dramas Dominate Sankranthi Box Office

Share

There is no doubt that seasoned star Venkatesh scored a massive Sankranthi 2025 hit with Sankranthiki Vasthunam. However, few anticipated that a similar family drama-driven template would continue to dominate the following Sankranthi season as well.

In Sankranthiki Vasthunam, Venkatesh played a dutiful husband leading a seemingly happy married life with his wife, portrayed by Aishwarya Rajesh. The narrative takes an engaging turn when his ex-girlfriend, played by Meenakshi Chaudhary, re-enters his life, creating chaos. The entire conflict is narrated in a light-hearted and humorous tone, which strongly connected with family audiences.

This Sankranthi, Megastar Chiranjeevi also appeared in a similar avatar, portraying a soft-spoken husband who silently endures a few insults from his strong-willed wife, played by Nayanthara. The film revolves around an estranged couple attempting to mend their relationship, with their children adding emotional depth to the story. Chiranjeevi’s character even sidelines his National Security Guard duties in an effort to reconcile with his wife, and the film went on to emerge as a blockbuster.

Similarly, Ravi Teja, who has been going through a rough phase at the box office, played a responsible husband in Bharta Mahasayulaku Vignapthi. The film begins with a stable married life alongside Dimple Hayathi, before his character gets involved in an extramarital affair with Ashika Ranganath, leading to predictable conflicts and resolutions.

Meanwhile, Sharwanand’s Naari Naari Naduma Murari places the actor between his present lover (Sakshi Vaidya) and his ex-girlfriend (Samyuktha Menon). He is portrayed as a humble and accommodating man trying to justify his dual choices, with the narrative again relying heavily on humour.

Responding to the similarities between these films and Sankranthiki Vasthunam, producer D Suresh Babu said, “I do agree that a few films were inspired by Sankranthiki Vasthunam, but there is nothing wrong with it. When a film becomes a massive success, it is natural for others to attempt similar themes because audiences have liked that particular kind of storytelling. Filmmaking is a business at the end of the day, and people pick up anything that works.”

He further pointed out that even action star Chiranjeevi explored husband-wife conflict in his latest release Mana Sankara Vara Prasad Garu. “Probably, Chiranjeevi wanted to do something different this time and entertained audiences with his comic timing amid action roles, which received an overwhelming response,” Suresh Babu added.

Dil Raju Leads Tollywood Push for Permanent Ticket Hike GO in Telangana

Share

Leading producer and distributor Dil Raju has revealed that senior members of the Telugu film industry are planning to meet Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy soon after his return from Davos to seek a permanent Government Order (GO) on movie ticket price hikes in the state.

“We are going to request the Chief Minister for a permanent GO on ticket hikes in Telangana,” Dil Raju said. “Our appeal is for a fixed and revised ticket rate for both big and small films on a long-term basis, instead of producers having to approach officials before every release and rushing through approvals.”

The move comes in the wake of recent directions issued by the Telangana High Court, which clearly stated that applications seeking ticket hikes or special permissions must be submitted at least 90 days prior to a film’s release. According to industry sources, this directive has significantly added to filmmakers’ concerns, especially since no such restriction exists in Andhra Pradesh, where permissions are routinely granted for all films.

The 90-day rule has emerged as a major hurdle for upcoming releases, as film release dates are often finalised barely a month in advance. Schedules frequently change due to post-production delays or to avoid box-office clashes, making compliance with the rule extremely challenging for producers.

Several big-budget and star-driven films are expected to be affected, starting with the much-hyped Peddi. Projects like Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambara, Pawan Kalyan’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh, Nani’s The Paradise, Naga Chaitanya’s Vrushakarma, Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit, Nikhil’s Swayambhu, Sharwanand’s Biker, Ravi Teja’s upcoming film, and Bellamkonda Sreenivas’ Tyson Naidu could all face difficulties in securing ticket hike permissions.

“It will definitely hurt big-ticket films releasing between March and May,” Dil Raju noted. He further added that an industry delegation is expected to meet the Chief Minister by the end of the month, expressing hope for a favourable and industry-friendly resolution.

Kavitha Says Telangana Jagruti Won’t Contest Municipal Polls, Slams Congress & BRS Over BC Reservations

Share

Telangana Jagruti president Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Wednesday announced that her organisation will not contest the upcoming municipal elections in Telangana, the schedule for which is expected to be released in the next couple of days.

Addressing a meeting at her office, Kavitha said that Telangana Jagruti has not yet evolved into a full-fledged political party. However, she clarified that the organisation would extend its support to any party or candidate seeking its backing in the municipal polls.

Kavitha strongly criticised both the ruling Congress and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), accusing them of deliberately betraying Backward Classes (BCs), particularly on the issue of reservations in local body elections. She alleged that the Congress had already committed injustice to BCs during the gram panchayat elections and was now proceeding with municipal elections without even raising the demand for 42 per cent reservation for BCs.

The silence of the Congress on the reservation issue, she said, reflected the party’s lack of commitment to social justice. Kavitha also questioned the BRS for not raising its voice forcefully in support of BCs, alleging that neither party was genuinely concerned about the welfare of backward communities.

Referring to the SIT investigation into the alleged telephone tapping case, Kavitha described it as an “orchestrated drama” jointly played out by the Congress and the BRS to divert public attention ahead of the municipal elections. She alleged that the issue was deliberately brought to the forefront to mislead people and asserted that victims of such cases were unlikely to receive justice.

Stating that there was no urgency to conduct municipal elections, Kavitha maintained that polls should be held only after ensuring 42 per cent reservation for BCs. “True justice is possible only when the majority sections of society have a fair share in political power,” she said.

Calling upon youth, women, and members of marginalised communities, Kavitha urged them to use municipal elections as a training ground. She said the elections would help aspiring leaders understand the political process and prepare themselves for future leadership roles.

Dacoit Movie Wrap: Mrunal Thakur, Adivi Sesh, Kanne Pittaro Remix Buzz

Share

Adivi Sesh has taken his time to deliver a quality cinematic experience, and his highly anticipated bilingual, Dacoit, is gearing up for release. The filmmakers have successfully built massive anticipation with their promotional strategy, especially the teaser, which has generated widespread curiosity and excitement.

Leading lady Mrunal Thakur recently wrapped her portions and marked the occasion with an enthusiastic reel. She appeared radiant and overjoyed, adding a fun touch by mouthing the lines of the viral Kanne Pittaro remix from the film’s soundtrack, further thrilling her followers.

The Dacoit team has seen remarkable success with their promotions. The teaser’s use of the Kanne Pittaro remix has resonated with audiences, quickly becoming a chartbuster and amplifying the film’s buzz.

Directed by Shaneil Deo, the project features a stellar cast, including Anurag Kashyap in a prominent, impactful role. Produced by Supriya Yarlagadda and presented by Suniel Narang under Annapurna Studios, the film combines high-octane action with a strong emotional core, positioning it as a major festive release.

Dacoit is set to hit theaters on 19th March, coinciding with the Ugadi holiday.

Nidhhi Agerwal Hails Pawan Kalyan as Future PM Possibility

Share

When it comes to praising Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, some actresses aren’t holding back, and Nidhhi Agerwal is one of them. Even on national platforms, these stars are making sure to elevate him publicly, and that’s exactly what the The Raja Saab heroine did recently.

Speaking with a popular Hindi podcast host, Nidhhi Agerwal lauded Pawan Kalyan extensively, calling him “the one courageous leader this country currently has.” The host responded that he wouldn’t be surprised if Pawan Kalyan became India’s Prime Minister one day. Nidhhi added, “Even I wouldn’t be surprised if he becomes PM. He has all the abilities.”

For context, Nidhhi starred opposite Pawan Kalyan in Hari Hara Veera Mallu. Although the film underperformed at the box office, her efforts in promoting it—along with her consistent praise for Pawan Kalyan’s righteousness, governance as AP’s Deputy CM, and charitable initiatives—caught attention both then and now.

Recently, she also promoted Prabhas’ The Raja Saab extensively. Many filmmakers appreciate her dedication, noting that even after scoring a big hit in Tollywood, she aggressively promotes her films, maintaining a high level of professionalism.

Venu Yeldandi Temple Shoe Controversy

Share

It looks like the controversy around Venu Yeldandi’s “Yellamma” shoot is mainly about temple etiquette. Fans are criticizing him for wearing shoes on a temple location, which many see as disrespectful, even though industry insiders explain it could be for safety reasons due to electrical wiring on set.

This kind of clash between filmmaking needs and religious sentiments happens often in Indian cinema. Directors sometimes have to prioritize crew safety or logistics, but sharing such images publicly can spark backlash because people expect sacred spaces to be treated with traditional reverence.

In short, while safety may have justified the shoes, posting the photo publicly opened him up to criticism. The film itself, with Devi Sri Prasad starring and Dil Raju producing, is reportedly a high-budget project, and the focus on temple protocol is a side conversation compared to the movie’s scale.

If you want, I can also give a timeline of how the social media reaction unfolded and what fans are saying specifically about Venu Yeldandi. Do you want me to do that?

Allu Arjun Praises Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu

Share

Wow — that’s huge! Allu Arjun publicly praising Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu like this is a significant moment, especially given the recent friction between the fan groups of Allu Arjun and the mega heroes. Let’s break down why this is so impactful:

Cross-Fandom Respect:
Allu Arjun’s message is entirely positive and respectful toward Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, and the entire team. In the past, fan rivalries could turn even neutral comments into controversies. By openly congratulating them, Bunny is setting a tone of professionalism and goodwill, which could cool down some of the fan friction online.

Highlighting Performances:
He specifically praises Venkatesh’s Venky Gowda character, Nayanthara’s elegance, and Catherine Tresa’s humour. This shows that he’s genuinely engaging with the film’s content rather than giving a generic endorsement. His acknowledgment of BulliRaju and the korikathanu korikathanu moment also signals that he’s aware of the audience’s favorite moments, which fans of the film will appreciate.

Music & Technical Appreciation:
Bunny gives credit to Bheems Ceciroleo for the songs (Hook Step and Mega Victory), and to the technicians and producers. This broad appreciation makes the praise feel comprehensive and thoughtful, rather than just hype.

Fan Reaction Potential:
Social media is already buzzing. Fans of Allu Arjun are likely proud of his sportsmanship, while mega fans will feel validated that one of the biggest stars in Telugu cinema is endorsing their favorites. This could lead to positive crossover discussions, or at the very least, fewer heated arguments online.

Industry Impact:
Public praise like this can sometimes influence box office longevity. Fans who respect Bunny might be more inclined to watch or recommend the film, boosting collections, especially in multiplexes and urban areas where Allu Arjun’s influence is strong.

In short, Bunny’s review isn’t just a congratulatory note — it’s a subtle bridge-building moment in Tollywood fandom politics. The timing, the detailed compliments, and the positivity all make it a social media event on its own.
