While most star actors are busy with Pan-India projects, Pawan Kalyan has personally given Suri this golden opportunity, which is rare considering the circumstances. For Suri, this chance is invaluable; few stars would extend such an opportunity in his position.
This film is crucial for Suri’s career. He is determined not to miss this chance and is working hard to complete pre-production so that regular shooting can begin in March. Casting for the lead actors is underway, and discussions about the heroine are already making waves.
Among the names being discussed, national crush Rashmika Mandanna has emerged as a favorite. The same considerations are being discussed for this new project. While Rashmika is a Pan-India star, hiring her would require a hefty remuneration. For a Pan-India release, this is justified, but for a regional film, it may not be necessary. Using a new actress would help control costs, and in a regional release, Pawan Kalyan’s star power alone could carry the film.
T Harish Rao Appears Before SIT in Phone Tapping Case
Senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA and former Telangana minister T Harish Rao appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Hyderabad Police on Tuesday in connection with the high-profile phone tapping case.
Harish Rao reached the Jubilee Hills Police Station amid tight security arrangements, with a heavy police presence deployed to maintain law and order. Notably, police personnel did not allow his lawyers to accompany him inside the station.
The SIT had issued notices to Harish Rao on Monday, directing him to appear for questioning. As he was on a district tour at the time, the notice was served at his residence in Kokapet. Sources indicate that the SIT is questioning him based on information provided by Shravan Rao and T Prabhakar Rao, who are already accused in the case. It is alleged that Harish Rao handled the telephone tapping operations on the instructions of then Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
The phone tapping case, under investigation for nearly two years, has seen several twists and turns. In March 2024, a case was registered at Panjagutta Police Station, alleging that during the BRS regime, phones of political leaders, businessmen, and even judges were illegally tapped, and related evidence was destroyed. While arrests were made, the investigation stalled due to Prabhakar Rao’s unavailability, regaining momentum only after his return to Hyderabad in June 2025.
Reacting to the developments, Harish Rao asserted that he was not intimidated by what he called hollow threats from the Revanth Reddy government. He alleged that the SIT notices were issued as a diversionary tactic, claiming the ruling dispensation was attempting “diversion politics” in response to his exposure of alleged corruption involving the Chief Minister and associates.
Maintaining that he had committed no wrongdoing, Harish Rao said he had nothing to fear, highlighting that the Supreme Court had dismissed a Special Leave Petition related to the phone tapping case. Despite setbacks in both the High Court and the Supreme Court, he alleged that authorities were continuing “dramas” in the name of the SIT.

The promotional campaign promised non-stop entertainment, and the film delivered on that promise with continuous comedy and wholesome fun.
For producer Anil Sunkara, the film’s success carries special significance, achieving commercial profitability and providing renewed optimism. “We are absolutely thrilled that the movie has entered the profit zone in such a short time. The collections could have been even higher with more theatres. However, we plan to add additional screens in the second week, which will surely boost the numbers,” said Sunkara.
RGV Says Dhurandhar Has Changed Indian Cinema Forever
“There are two sharply demarcated halves of Indian cinema — those before Dhurandhar and those after Dhurandhar. It’s like BC and AD,” says Ram Gopal Varma (RGV).
According to RGV, the digitally driven Telugu fantasies like Kingdom and RajaSaab have already scrapped their announced sequels, reflecting the panic in the industry. Even the most anticipated films for the year, including Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War and Shah Rukh Khan’s King, feature no special effects, highlighting a shift in audience preference.
Ramu explains the paradigm shift: “A lot of different films can do well, but it’s doubtful that the special-effects-driven action films Telugu cinema has been producing over the past few years will find the same audience now.” He draws attention to how Dhurandhar transforms the standard vendetta formula with raw, gritty realism. “Ranveer Singh has no traditional entry scene; in fact, he’s almost assaulted by a mob. The film is technically a template — hero, heroine, villain, lofty cause — but the treatment is the exact opposite of what we’ve been fed all these years. Here, the hero is vulnerable. All action films before were about hero elevation, mostly vendetta.”
Ramu points out how Telugu pan-Indian blockbusters like Kalki 2898, Baahubali, RRR, and HanuMan perfected the art of FX spectacles, creating benchmarks over the last five to six years. “Now comes Dhurandhar — the hero doesn’t have the slow-motion elevation shots, the background score doesn’t pander to him, and he stays in the background for much of the story. The narrative isn’t manipulated to serve the hero’s whims.”
He continues, “The success of Dhurandhar indicates a sea-change in audience tastes. Hollywood has been doing this for a long time. Take Leonardo DiCaprio in Body of Lies — when he’s hurt, he shows genuine pain. Our recent years were dominated by heroes performing gravity-defying stunts, almost superhuman. In Dhurandhar, Ranveer gets battered in the opening sequence. This vulnerable, human hero is now being widely accepted.”
According to RGV, this shift has made Telugu FX blockbusters look dated overnight. “Take Pushpa 2 — the biting fight sequence, flying around and attacking everyone — it’s enjoyable, no doubt. But after Dhurandhar, such fantasy spectacles might lose impact. In just a year or two, people’s tastes have changed completely. This is a quantum leap in cinema.”
Ramu adds, “Dhurandhar shows gritty, realistic action — every character is vulnerable, you see pain and injuries. It’s not fantasy; it’s real. That’s why digitally driven action films will face trouble.”
Looking ahead, RGV says the real test will come on March 19, when Dhurandhar 2 clashes with Yash–Geetu Mohandas’ Toxic. “They are on opposite sides. Many love the Toxic teaser, but I feel part of it is because they secretly resent Dhurandhar’s success. I want to see both films back-to-back to feel the difference.”
