Dimple Hayati Shares Emotional Memories of Dasari Narayana Rao During Film Promotions

Share

Dimple Hayati, who gained massive popularity with her special song in Gaddalakonda Ganesh and impressed audiences as the lead actress in Ravi Teja’s Khiladi, has reunited with the star for Bharata Mahasayulaku Vignapti, released this Sankranti. During the film’s promotional events, Dimple shared several personal and intriguing insights with her fans.

Notably, she revealed that she considers legendary filmmaker Dasari Narayana Rao as her grandfather and veteran actress Prabha as her grandmother. She also mentioned that many members of her family are involved in the film industry.

During the promotions, Dimple spoke emotionally about Dasari Narayana Rao’s last wish. “Growing up in a film-oriented environment, Dasari sir would always observe me closely, even when I was taking selfies or practicing. There were always people around him, and the house felt like the heart of the industry. As a child, I didn’t fully understand his stature. Even after I grew up, it was hard to grasp. Before he passed away, he once told me that he wanted to make a film with Pawan Kalyan. He even had the script ready and had chosen the title Kalki for it. At that time, I was only 15, and though I wanted to enter the industry, he initially didn’t approve. Later, he said, ‘Whenever you’re ready, we will make a film together.’ But unfortunately, his health deteriorated, and he passed away before that wish could be fulfilled,” she shared, visibly emotional.

Dimple emphasized that Dasari Narayana Rao had always been committed to highlighting women’s rights and social issues through his films. Every movie he made carried a meaningful message, and with over 150 films to his credit, he remained a guiding force in the industry, always ready to support anyone in need.

Her heartfelt revelations about the legendary director and her personal journey have since gone viral on social media, resonating deeply with fans and cinephiles alike.

Anil Ravipudi Confirms Ilaiyaraaja’s Approval for ‘Sundari’ in Chiranjeevi’s Film

Share

Director Anil Ravipudi has finally put an end to speculation regarding the use of an Ilaiyaraaja composition in Megastar Chiranjeevi’s latest film, Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu. Speaking to the media on Tuesday evening, Ravipudi clarified that the team had formally approached the legendary composer and obtained his approval to feature the evergreen song.

The director explained that the makers followed the proper procedure, seeking permission before incorporating the iconic romantic melody “Sundari” from the classic film Dalapathi. Ravipudi added that Ilaiyaraaja immediately accepted the proposal and assured the team there was no cause for concern. Emphasising the importance of due process, he noted that adhering to the correct protocol helps avoid unnecessary controversies.

Since the film’s release, audiences have praised the sequence featuring “Sundari”, applauding Ravipudi for recreating a nostalgic, heartfelt moment that resonates with fans of the original song. In the past, Ilaiyaraaja has taken legal action against filmmakers for unauthorised use of his compositions, with courts sometimes ordering songs to be removed from theatres and OTT platforms. For instance, Mythri Movie Makers reportedly paid around ₹75 lakh for using a few of his songs in Good Bad & Ugly, while the composer did not charge a fee for his music in the Tamil film Lumber Pandhu.

Industry insiders believe that approaching the composer well in advance and following the proper procedure often proves crucial in avoiding legal and reputational issues.

Naveen Polishetty Returns with Anaganaga Oka Raju, Netflix Rights Sold

Share

After a long hiatus, Naveen Polishetty makes his return to the big screen with Anaganaga Oka Raju, which hit theatres today, January 14, 2026. Made on a modest budget of approximately ₹8 crore, the film has already emerged as a profitable venture even before its theatrical release.

The digital streaming rights have been acquired by Netflix for a substantial amount, and strong pre-release business reportedly pushed the film into the profit zone ahead of its cinema debut. This has added to the positive buzz surrounding the project.

Directed by Maari, the film stars Meenakshi Chaudhary and Rao Ramesh in pivotal roles, alongside Naveen Polishetty in the lead. With mid-budget films typically enjoying a four-week theatrical window, the OTT premiere of Anaganaga Oka Raju is expected to take place on Netflix in late February 2026.

Chiranjeevi’s Sankranti Film Clocks ₹40 Cr Share, Turns Big Winner

Share

Megastar Chiranjeevi has made a thunderous comeback this Sankranti, with his latest release reportedly amassing an impressive ₹40 crore share in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana so far, and the numbers continue to climb steadily. Trade circles suggest that the film has already emerged as a big winner for distributors across both Telugu states.

“It has managed to clock around ₹40 crore share for distributors and is still counting. Chiranjeevi’s charisma has worked big time, and his combination with director Anil Ravipudi has clearly paid off,” revealed a distributor.

Positioned as a wholesome family entertainer, the film is packed with nostalgic moments and evergreen songs, striking a strong chord particularly with Chiranjeevi’s middle-aged and senior fan base. Trade analysts note that families have turned up in large numbers, adding to the festive box-office momentum. “It’s a complete one-man show. Chiranjeevi’s comic timing has thoroughly entertained his core fans from the older generation, while families are equally enjoying the humour,” the distributor added.

Following the disappointment of Bhola Shankar, the film marks a significant comeback for Chiranjeevi. His on-screen presence alongside Nayanthara and Venkatesh has generated continuous laughter in theatres, enhancing the celebratory mood. With strong occupancy levels and festive scenes being reported across cinemas in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the film is witnessing what trade observers describe as “mega celebrations” in the Telugu states, once again reaffirming Chiranjeevi’s enduring box-office supremacy.

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt Turn Heads During Late-Night Mumbai Outing

Share

Bollywood’s power couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were spotted together during a late-night outing in Mumbai’s Bandra area on Tuesday, serving major couple goals as they arrived hand in hand at Gauri Khan’s popular restaurant, Torii. The duo was all smiles as they paused to greet the paparazzi outside the venue.

For the outing, Alia Bhatt looked elegant in a white sequinned saree adorned with delicate embroidery. She paired the ensemble with a matching blouse and kept her look minimal yet classy, styling her hair in a sleek bun and accessorising with a statement choker and soft, glowing makeup.

Complementing Alia’s look perfectly, Ranbir Kapoor opted for a black kurta-pyjama, layered with an embroidered Nehru jacket, adding a touch of traditional sophistication to his appearance. Soon after their appearance, pictures and videos of the couple began circulating widely on social media, quickly going viral.

On the professional front, Alia Bhatt will next be seen in Alpha, directed by Shiv Rawail. The film is expected to be a significant addition to Yash Raj Films’ much-acclaimed spy universe. Ranbir Kapoor, meanwhile, is gearing up to portray Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated two-part epic Ramayana.

Interestingly, the real-life couple will also be sharing screen space in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming directorial Love and War, which also stars Vicky Kaushal. The film was officially announced in January 2024. Sharing the announcement on Instagram, the makers wrote, “We bring you Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic saga Love & War. See you at the movies,” accompanied by the signatures of Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal.

Sankranthi Releases MSG and BMW Share Surprising Similarities

Share

The Sankranthi releases Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu and Bharata Mahasayulaku Wignyapti, which hit screens yesterday and today respectively, have turned out to share a few surprising similarities.

One notable common factor in both films is the prominent use of Kannada. In Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, Venkatesh plays Venky Gowda, a Kannada character who speaks the language fluently, especially in his interactions with Catherine. Similarly, in Bharata Mahasayulaku Wignyapti, Tarak Ponnappa portrays a Kannada-speaking character. He plays the brother of Ashika Ranganath’s character, and their conversations in Kannada add light-hearted moments to the narrative.

Another striking similarity lies in the extensive use of classic songs as background scores. In Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, the evergreen “Sundari…” from Dalapathi is repeatedly used, while Bharata Mahasayulaku Wignyapti frequently features “Rani Ranamma…” from Maa Pallelo Gopaludu as background music.

Thus, despite releasing within a gap of just one day, both Sankranthi films share interesting and unexpected parallels that have caught the audience’s attention.

Yash Faces Backlash Over Old Interview Amid Toxic Teaser Controversy

Share

As the controversy over allegedly obscene and explicit scenes in Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups refuses to die down, lead actor Yash is now facing fresh backlash online after an old interview of his resurfaced on social media.

In the interview, Yash had told television host Ramesh Aravind that he would never agree to act in films or scenes that he would feel uncomfortable watching with his parents.
“I won’t do any movie scenes that I wouldn’t feel comfortable watching with my parents,” the actor had said at the time.

After the clip went viral again, several netizens accused Yash of hypocrisy, linking his past statement to certain scenes shown in the recently released Toxic teaser. The controversy quickly snowballed across social media platforms, triggering mixed reactions from audiences.

While a section of users criticised the actor for contradicting his earlier views, others came out in his defence, arguing that people and their perspectives naturally evolve over time. Some pointed out that actors grow with their careers and that opinions expressed years ago may not necessarily apply in the present. A few also noted that rejecting an entire film based on one or two scenes is unrealistic in today’s highly competitive film industry, and that an actor’s on-screen choices should not be confused with personal beliefs.

Several fans dismissed the criticism altogether, stating that viewers always have the choice to skip films they do not wish to watch.

The controversy erupted after the makers released the Toxic teaser on Yash’s birthday last week. The teaser opens in a graveyard, with Yash’s character dramatically gatecrashing a funeral, followed by high-octane action sequences. However, a particular car scene drew sharp criticism from a section of the audience, who objected to what they described as explicit content.

Taking the matter further, the women’s wing of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) filed a complaint with the Karnataka State Commission for Women, alleging obscenity in the teaser.

As the debate continues to rage online, the makers of Toxic are yet to issue an official statement addressing the criticism or the complaint.

Vaishnav Tej Pauses After Flops, Plans Next Move Carefully

Share

Back-to-back box office failures can impact any actor’s career, often prompting a pause for reflection and recalibration. It appears a few young stars from the mega family are doing exactly that, taking time away from announcements to carefully rethink their next moves. Instead of rushing into new projects, they seem focused on choosing the right scripts and collaborations, even if it means a long wait.

One such actor is Vaishnav Tej, the younger son of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s sister and the brother of Sai Dharam Tej. He made a sensational debut in 2020 with Uppena, which turned into a massive success despite releasing when theatres were still struggling in the post-COVID phase. The film instantly shot him to fame and set high expectations for his future.

However, his subsequent films—Konda Polam, Ranga Ranga Vaibhavamga, and Aadikeshava—failed to make a mark at the box office, even though they were backed by reputed banners. Critics also felt that Vaishnav Tej was yet to show significant growth in his performances. These setbacks seem to have made the young actor introspective about his career choices.

Interestingly, even as he celebrates his 30th birthday today, January 13, there has been no announcement regarding his next project. This silence suggests that Vaishnav Tej is still in the process of figuring out his next step, carefully weighing his options rather than making a hasty comeback.

A similar approach is being taken by another mega family member, Allu Sirish. Following a string of box office disappointments, the brother of Allu Arjun has also slowed down considerably and is taking his time before committing to a new film. For both actors, this phase appears to be less about urgency and more about rebuilding with clarity and purpose.
