Puri Jagannadh & Vijay Sethupathi’s Telugu Project Raises Curiosity

Fans have been eagerly awaiting updates on the much-anticipated collaboration between filmmaker Puri Jagannadh and actor Vijay Sethupathi. While official details remain under wraps, fresh information about the project has begun to surface, generating significant buzz—especially since it is being made exclusively in Telugu. Earlier reports suggested that the film might explore a Money Heist-style narrative and could be titled Slumdog, though Jagannadh has yet to confirm the title officially.
According to a source close to the project, the story is set in a jhopadpatti—a colony inhabited by economically marginalised people. Vijay Sethupathi’s character is said to take shelter as a tenant in the home of a Muslim woman living in the colony. The source revealed that the entire colony of beggars is constructed around her character, with Sethupathi also portraying a beggar. What unfolds next forms the crux of the story.
On the creative front, the source shared that the team has worked extensively on the look and detailing of the woman’s character, as well as the residents of the colony, to ensure authenticity. While the on-ground shoot has already been completed, post-production and dubbing have not yet begun.
As fans eagerly await an official announcement regarding the film’s title and release schedule, the delay has only heightened curiosity and expectations surrounding this intriguing Puri Jagannadh–Vijay Sethupathi collaboration.
Anaganaga Oka Raju Clears Censor, Gets U/A Certificate

One of the key Telugu releases lined up for the Sankranthi festive season is Anaganaga Oka Raju, starring Naveen Polishetty and Meenakshi Chaudhary in the lead roles. The film is produced by Sithara Entertainment’s Naga Vamsi and is slated for a theatrical release on January 14.
Ahead of its release, the film has successfully completed its censor formalities. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), after reviewing the Maari directorial, has awarded Anaganaga Oka Raju a U/A certificate, making it a suitable family entertainer for the festive season. Children can also watch the film under parental guidance.
Adding to the positive buzz, the makers have locked an engaging runtime of 2 hours and 20 minutes, which is considered ideal for a light-hearted entertainer. The trailer has already struck a chord with audiences, highlighting punchy comedy revolving around a man’s marriage proposals and his pursuit of love in Bhimavaram.
With its strong comedic setup and festive timing, Anaganaga Oka Raju appears well-positioned to attract family audiences. However, given the recent ticket price hike controversies surrounding films like The Raja Saab and Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, applying for a similar hike may not work in the film’s favour. That said, Naga Vamsi is known for making calculated and audience-friendly decisions, and it remains to be seen what strategy he adopts for this Sankranthi release.
Akhanda 2 Ends Box Office Run as Major Disappointment

Akhanda 2, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead role, has concluded its theatrical run on a disappointing note at the box office.
Despite strong expectations driven by the success of the first installment, the sequel failed to live up to the hype and wrapped up with a worldwide gross of under ₹130 crore, falling well short of industry success benchmarks.
The Telugu fantasy action thriller released in theatres on December 12, 2025, and opened to mixed-to-negative reviews from critics. Audience word of mouth also remained below average, resulting in a sharp drop in collections after the initial opening days.
While Akhanda 2 registered the second-biggest opening of Balakrishna’s career in India, poor audience reception led to heavy declines soon after. As per final estimates, the film collected approximately ₹94.5 crore net domestically, translating to ₹111.51 crore gross. Its run was further impacted by reduced screenings following the release of The Raja Saab.
Overseas performance was equally underwhelming, with the film earning only ₹12.35 crore gross. With this, the worldwide closing total stands at around ₹123.86 crore gross.
Given its high budget, Akhanda 2 managed to recover only about 47.25% of its investment, resulting in a deficit of nearly 52.75%. While the film did achieve a few opening-day milestones for Balakrishna, the overall theatrical outcome places it firmly among the major box-office disappointments in recent times.

AP–Telangana CMs Push Dialogue Over Water Disputes

In a rare and welcome display of political maturity, the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana appear to be on the same page over a critical issue — water disputes must not escalate into confrontations. Moving away from conflict-driven politics, both leaders are now emphasising dialogue, cooperation, and practical problem-solving.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has clearly advocated discussions as the only viable path forward, asserting that disagreements between the two Telugu states should be settled through talks rather than legal battles or public rhetoric. He underlined that Telangana does not wish to let water-sharing issues dominate inter-state relations or disrupt long-term harmony.
Echoing a similar sentiment, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has stressed the importance of coordination between the two governments for sustained development and regional stability. Signals from both sides suggest a shared understanding that escalation would only harm farmers, stall key irrigation projects, and slow economic growth.
Water projects, especially those linked to the Krishna river, have historically been flashpoints between the two states. However, the present tone marks a shift from blame to balance, with an apparent focus on ensuring equitable development without disadvantaging either side.
Beyond water-sharing, the broader relationship between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana remains deeply interconnected. Telangana’s reliance on Andhra Pradesh ports and Andhra’s need for regional cooperation highlight how closely the futures of the two states are intertwined.
With both Chief Ministers advocating dialogue over dispute, there is renewed optimism that the era of water wars may give way to cooperation — paving the path for peace, progress, and shared prosperity for the Telugu states.
