There is unusual interest in both the Godavari districts in Andhra Pradesh in the outcome of Munugode byelections. Several MLAs and other local level leaders are making their own guess works and are getting surveys commissioned to understand the voters’ pulse in Munugode. Wonder why so much interest in Godavari districts in an election that is happening in Telangana’s Munugode?

You guessed it right. The politically inclined people and even other people are showing interest in hedging their bets on the winning horse in Munugode. An MLA has already got two surveys done. According to these surveys, soon after Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy resigned from the Congress, there was considerable edge for the TRS. But, within a week, Rajagopal Reddy has managed to bridge the gap.

Today, the odds appear to be in favour of Rajagopal Reddy, who is contesting on the BJP ticket. Not just that, the Congress has not only been pushed to the third position, but could even lose the security deposit. So, a lot of people from West and East Godavari districts have begun hedging their bets on the outcome of Munugode.

According to a survey taken up two months ago, the TRS had 51 per cent voter support, while the Congress had 19 per cent and the BJP 20 per cent. But a week ago, things changed. TRS has 46 per cent, which means it has lost six percentage points. The BJP has climbed up to 43 per cent, which is up by 23 per cent. The Congress now has just about 10 per cent and this is likely to fall further. Thus, a photo-finish is likely as of today. However, the BJP graph is likely to go up further as the Congress votes slide down further.

Ram Mandir Priest Wants a Ban on Adipurush!

Making a film on Gods and Epics is not a small thing and it is a big task that comes with a lot of risks. The makers of Adipurush starring Prabhas took the risk and announced a film on the Hindu epic Ramayana. Prabhas is playing Lord Rama in the Pan-India film helmed by Om Raut.

The teaser was launched recently and the makers unveiled the teaser was dropped from Ayodhya city. After the teaser was launched, the makers are facing severe criticism from various corners. The way the characters are depicted did not go well with many.

From common audiences to politicians to Right-wing members everyone is lashing out at the makers. A few BJP leaders warned that they will not tolerate anyone who disrespects their beliefs.

As if it was not enough another big personality came down severely on the makers and raised severe objections to the way the characters in the epic were shown. He said that there is no match between the characters prescribed in the epic and the way they were translated onto the screen.

Adding fuel to the criticism, Acharya Satyendra Das, the head priest of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir placed a few objections and asked is it how the characters are shown in the film.

After raising the objections, the head priest said that it is not a crime to make a film but hurting their sentiments is not accepted and no one can get limelight by creating such controversies.

However, there is also an opinion that the criticism is coming towards Adipurush early as the film was not released yet. Director Om Raut said that the VFX work is not finished and there a pending work. He also said that the VFX is not made for YouTube and the VFX was made keeping the big screen in mind.

Once the film hits the theatres we will know more about the film and the VFX that is involved in making the film. The Pan-India film Adipurush is slated for a grand release on the eve of Sankranti 2023. The film is being made on a big budget.

Jagan to persist with seniors, Chandrababu to root for youth

Both YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu are likely to adopt different approaches to choosing candidates for the 2024 assembly elections. While Jagan is all set to continue to promote the seniors in the party, the TDP is planning to bring in a young brigade to the fore and relegate senior TDP leaders to the background.

Sources say this is because the reins of power in the TDP are going to pass into the hands of Nara Lokesh. Hence, Chandrababu wants to create a team of young leaders around Lokesh. He feels that Lokesh will have it easy managing a young team as compared to seniors, who may not pay any heed to him. YS Jagan does not have this problem and hence, will persist with the seniors.

For instance, Polamreddy Dinesh Reddy, who is son of senior TDP leader Polamreddy Srinivasula Reddy, has been made incharge of the TDP in Kovoor of Nellore. In North Andhra’s Narsipatnam, Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu’s son Vijay is being promoted. Ditto with sons of senior leaders Jyothula Nehru, KS Jawahar and Adireddy Appa Rao.

On the other hand, Jagan has already told the sons and close relatives of senior leaders that they may have to wait for some more time. The seniors would be renominated as they would find it easier to win from their chosen constituencies. It remains to be seen whose strategy actually gets so succeed and whose fails.

Why did Kavitha Kalwakuntla miss the BRS announcement meeting?

While KCR’s TRS-to-BRS show was well choreographed and party workers celebrated it as a mega event on the streets by bursting crackers and sloganeering, there were some discordant notes nevertheless. One major absentee at the programme organised at the Telangana Bhavan is none other than KCR’s daughter dear Kavitha Kalwakuntla.

Kavitha was very much in the town and had just attended the Batukamma programme the other day. She is quite active in the party activities. But, she was conspicuous by her absence at the programme organised to announce the formation of the BRS. This has raised quite a few eyebrows and led to heated debate in hushed tones among the party workers.

Kavitha, who remained off the radar for quite some time, has become active off late. She has been taking interest in the party affairs after being made the MLC. She has been attending a slew of Batukamma programmes. But, her absence at the all-important programme has raised several question marks. The party workers tried to enquire as to why Kavitha was missing at such an important event.

Several party activists have begun asking if all was not well within the first family of the party. The party insiders say that there is a lot of internal turmoil in the KCR family. There are different pressures and pulls, they point out. Already Rajya Sabha MP Santhosh Kumar, a member of the family coterie, too is said to be sulking.

TRS to BRS: No Buzz at national level?

A day after KCR announced amid much fanfare the renaming of TRS as BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi), there is a deafening silence among the politicians at the national level. There is no buzz whatsoever and no leader worth his salt cared to comment on it. Thus, the renaming ceremony that KCR organised was no earth-shaking event at all at the national level.

Neither the DMK nor Udhav Thackeray chose to comment on the development. Bihar, where KCR recently distributed ex-gratia to the martyrs of Galvan clash, too did not react to KCR’s announcement. In Punjab, KCR disbursed ex-gratia to the farmers who died during the farm stir. But no leader from Punjab chose to speak in KCR’s new gamble.

Leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, Mamta Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, Tejaswi Yadav and Hemant Soren too remained silent. KCR met most of these leaders several times and some flew to Hyderabad to hold consultations with KCR. Most importantly, the national leadership of the BJP, whom KCR specifically targeted, too did not react.

The biggest shock came from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. Not only did YS Jagan Mohan Reddy not react, even the Opposition TDP and Pawan Kalyan of the Jana Sena remained silent. As if to rub salt to the wounds, YSRCP leader and Minister Jogi Ramesh said that there would be no impact of the BRS in Andhra Pradesh.

GodFather Grosses 38 Cr Worldwide On Day One

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s mass and political action entertainer GodFather where superstar Salman Khan played a mighty role was released on Dasara to a super positive response from all corners. Critics, fans as well as the common audience gave a blockbuster verdict for the movie. Director Mohan Raja is also winning appreciation for showing Chiranjeevi in a completely different character.

RRR In Oscars Race, Nominated In Multiple Categories!

No words can describe the cinematic brilliance of maverick director SS Rajamouli. With every film, he is setting some benchmark. His last film RRR not only emerged as one of the highest-grossing films,but also created a rage among western audiences and technicians. He was invited to a popular film festival and his films were screened.

Indians pinned high hopes that it would be nominated for the Oscars officially from India. However, a Gujarati film was sent officially. This made RRR fans unhappy and they asked how a magnum opus was not picked for the prestigious award.

In what could be a piece of good news for the RRR fans, the Pan-India film is still in the Oscars and the film will compete in multiple categories. If everything goes well, we might see the successful film lifting the prestigious award.

As per the international media, RRR will try its luck in as many as 15 categories. As it is nominated in these many categories, fans are hoping that it would make it to the final cut in any one of the categories.

It is known that RRR was screened at the Los Angeles’ Chinese Theatre recently and the crowd was present in big numbers at the screen. Film observers say that the screening is the first big step in RRR’s nominations for the prestigious award.

A famous film reporter who works for Los Angeles Times Jen Yamato shared the news on Twitter that RRR’s Oscars race is very much on and the film is nominated in multiple categories. Hit number Naatu Naatu song was also nominated and the song was nominated under the Best Original Song Category.

In recent times, no southern film won Oscars. Suriya’s Jai Bhim was also nominated earlier. However, the film missed the opportunity and it received a standing ovation when it was screened.

Directed by SS Rajamouli, RRR stars Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao and Ram Charan Tej in lead roles who played Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju respectively. DVV Danayya bankrolled the film which set the box office on fire across industries. Alia Bhatt and Olivia Morris played the leading ladies. Ajay Devgn played a key role.

‘Ahimsa’ Teaser: A Pure Love Story With A Lot Of Action!

Director Teja is a well-known filmmaker in Tollywood. He introduced some of the brightest talents to Telugu cinema like Uday Kiran, Nithin, Sada, Kajal Agarwal, Navdeep and many others. He is a knack for bringing the best out of young actors and that is the reason why he has been given the responsibility of launching Daggubati Rana’s younger brother Abhiram Daggubati. P Kiran is the producer ‘Ahimsa’ and it is made under ‘Anandi Art Creations’. After the release of a glimpse and a song, the makers have now unveiled the teaser.

The teaser starts off on a pleasant note and establishes the love story of innocent souls Raghu and Ahalya. The protagonist is a young farmer who has no big dreams in life but is happy with what he’s got. Moreover, he is completely against violence and tells everyone to follow Buddha’s philosophy of following a non-violent path. But a series of unexpected events turns his life upside down and violence gollows him. The teaser looks simple and interesting. Teja established the love story and conflict part quite well in the teaser. Abhiram looks decent while Geethika looked beautiful on screen. Sadha and a few other actors make their presence felt in the teaser as well.

The combination of director Teja and music composer RP Patnaik who have memorable music with their films like ‘Nuvvu Nenu’, ‘Chitram’, ‘Jayam’ and others have teamed up after a long time. He gave an impactful soundtrack for the teaser too. The teaser definitely gives a positive vibe to this film and we need to wait and see how the film turns out.

Sameer Reddy is handling the cinematography department. Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao is the editor of this movie. Dialogues were penned by Anil Achugatla while Supriya is the art director. Chandrabose penned the lyrics while BV Ramana is the action director. The rest of the cast of this film includes Rajat Bedi, Sadha, Ravi Kale, Kamal Kamaraju, Manoj Tiger, Kalpalatha, Devi Prasad and others. The release date is expected to be announced soon.
