The third installment in James Cameron’s Avatar franchise, which debuted in Indian theatres earlier this month, continues to enjoy a solid and steady run at the domestic box office. Despite receiving mixed reactions from critics and sections of the audience, the film’s commercial performance highlights its wide-reaching appeal across languages, regions, and audience segments.
In the language-wise gross breakup, the English version emerged as the biggest contributor, collecting an impressive ₹76.02 crore. This clearly underlines James Cameron’s enduring pull among urban and premium multiplex audiences. The Hindi version followed closely with ₹57.48 crore, reflecting strong acceptance across the North Indian belt. Southern markets also delivered respectable numbers, with the Tamil version earning ₹25.53 crore and the Telugu version adding ₹15.09 crore to the total.
Even in comparatively smaller markets, Avatar 3 managed to make its presence felt. The Kannada version collected ₹52.65 lakh, while the Malayalam version contributed ₹18.35 lakh, reinforcing the franchise’s pan-Indian reach.
From a state-wise perspective, the North circuit led the charts with a dominant gross of ₹90.92 crore, reaffirming the film’s popularity in multiplex-driven regions. Tamil Nadu stood second with ₹32.55 crore, indicating steady footfalls despite mixed word of mouth. The Telugu states together contributed ₹23.29 crore, while Karnataka registered ₹19.82 crore. Kerala added ₹8.25 crore to the overall tally.
Overall, the film’s sustained performance at the Indian box office once again highlights the global brand value of the Avatar franchise. Even amid divided responses, James Cameron’s vision continues to draw audiences across borders and languages, proving his films remain a theatrical event in the truest sense.
The RajaSaab to Reveal Prabhas’ Fun Side, Says Director Maruthi

Director Maruthi has shared intriguing details about his upcoming big-budget film The RajaSaab, starring Prabhas, revealing that the movie will present the star in a refreshingly different avatar. Speaking in an interview with manatelugu, Maruthi described the film as a horror fantasy entertainer, a sharp departure from Prabhas’s recent action-heavy roles.
According to the director, audiences will witness Prabhas’s fun-loving and jovial side, reminiscent of his performances in Darling and Mirchi. This tonal shift is expected to surprise Pan-India fans who have grown accustomed to seeing the actor in intense, larger-than-life action roles in recent years.
Maruthi revealed that The RajaSaab initially began as a small-scale horror comedy. However, once Prabhas came on board, the project expanded significantly in scale and vision. The narrative evolved into a full-fledged horror fantasy set in a unique cinematic world. A key portion of the film unfolds in a hypnosis-based fantasy zone, where characters experience bizarre hallucinations and unsettling realities. The ghosts, too, break conventional norms, with some appearing in unusual forms such as smoke and abstract entities.
Visual effects play a crucial role in the storytelling. The film features extensive CGI, including wild animals and a massive monster that appears during the climax. With a background in animation, Maruthi personally designed several of the visual elements. Thousands of VFX shots were meticulously planned using storyboards and mock shoots to ensure smooth execution during production.
One of the film’s biggest highlights is its nearly 40-minute-long climax, which reportedly took close to 70 days to shoot. Maruthi described it as one of the most unique endings in recent cinema, adding that Prabhas himself considers the climax his favorite part of the film.
The director also disclosed that he spent almost a year developing the script. While the initial version exceeded three and a half hours, the final cut has been trimmed to under three hours to maintain a tight narrative pace. Elaborate special sets, detailed lighting, and moving elements were designed to elevate the fantasy atmosphere.
Promising a complete theatrical experience filled with humor, emotion, and stunning visuals, Maruthi is confident that The RajaSaab will appeal to a wide audience. The film is slated for a grand Sankranti release, setting the stage for a festive box-office spectacle.
Can The Raja Saab Be Nidhhi Agerwal’s Career-Changing Blockbuster?

During the promotions of Hari Hara Veera Mallu, Pawan Kalyan openly admitted that he stepped out to promote the film after witnessing the unwavering dedication of Nidhhi Agerwal, who almost single-handedly led the publicity campaigns. His words stood as a strong testimony to Nidhhi’s relentless pursuit of a major breakthrough in her career.
Nidhhi made her Telugu debut in 2018 with Naga Chaitanya’s Savyasachi and tasted her first success with her third film, iSmart Shankar. Unfortunately, she couldn’t build on that momentum over the next six years. Despite her consistent hard work and determination to establish herself in Tollywood, success continued to elude her post iSmart Shankar.
Now, all eyes are on The Raja Saab, a horror romantic comedy that could prove to be a defining moment in her career. The film’s result is expected to have a significant impact on Nidhhi’s future, as she truly deserves a major hit after the commitment she has shown over the years, especially while working on two demanding big-budget projects simultaneously.
Among the three female leads in The Raja Saab, Nidhhi Agerwal is the most familiar face to Telugu audiences. If she manages to impress with her performance and the film turns out to be a festival-season blockbuster, it could mark a much-needed turning point in her journey.
When she signed back-to-back big-ticket films like Hari Hara Veera Mallu and The Raja Saab, many believed these projects would revive her career. However, the disappointing outcome of Hari Hara Veera Mallu dented those hopes, particularly because Nidhhi dedicated over four years to the period drama and actively participated in its promotions.
What stands out is her extraordinary commitment. With both Pawan Kalyan and Prabhas juggling multiple commitments, Nidhhi adjusted her schedules without taking breaks to complete both films. There were days when she reportedly took quick naps in her car while travelling between Hyderabad and Vijayawada, ensuring that the shoots progressed without delays. Such dedication underlines why The Raja Saab feels like her most crucial film yet.
Sharwanand’s Nari Nari Naduma Murari Goes Silent Ahead of Sankranthi 2026

Hero Sharwanand’s upcoming film Nari Nari Naduma Murari has quietly emerged as one of the most delayed contenders in the Sankranthi 2026 race. Originally scheduled for release in March 2025, the film has faced multiple postponements and is now nearly eight months behind its initial plan, eventually locking Sankranthi as its release window. While the festive date has been confirmed and competition is intensifying, Sharwanand’s noticeable silence on the promotional front has raised several eyebrows.
With rival films aggressively promoting themselves — Anil Ravipudi and team creating strong buzz for Mega MSG, Prabhas actively promoting Raja Saab, and Naveen Polishetty stepping out for Anaganaga Oka Raju — Nari Nari Naduma Murari seems to be missing from the conversation. There have been hardly any interviews, public appearances, or strong marketing initiatives from Sharwanand or the film’s team so far, which is quite unusual for a Sankranthi release.
Given the repeated delays, the film has already lost some of its initial excitement, and the lack of promotions could further dampen audience interest during the festive season. At present, Nari Nari Naduma Murari appears underrepresented in the Sankranthi lineup, especially when compared to its high-profile competitors. While Sankranthi releases do enjoy natural footfalls, relying solely on the festive advantage without adequate promotions could prove risky. The coming weeks, especially the first half of January, will be crucial for the team to step up promotions and ensure the film doesn’t get overshadowed in the crowded Sankranthi race.

Thaman Gives Strong Reply to Fan Over Raja Saab Trailer Comment
Happening music director Thaman is known for his straightforward and fearless responses on social media, especially when fans cross the line. Once again, he proved this with a strong reaction to an overenthusiastic fan’s comment following the release of The Raja Saab trailer.
While appreciating Thaman’s energetic background score for the trailer, a fan used a derogatory phrase, referring to him as “Mental Na Kodaka.” Though the intention may have stemmed from excitement rather than malice, the remark was clearly inappropriate and crossed acceptable boundaries.
This triggered a sharp response from Thaman, who did not hold back. Reacting to the comment, he replied with equal intensity, writing, “Thanks ra pitchaa naaaa pakoda!! 🔥💣💪🏾”. By mirroring the tone of the original comment, Thaman effectively shut down the user, making it clear that such language would not be tolerated.
Thaman has always maintained a firm stance against disrespectful remarks on social media, and this incident once again reflects his no-nonsense attitude. Given that he has faced criticism and negativity from various fan groups in the recent past, such situations seem to have become routine for the composer. However, his response makes one thing clear — Thaman is not someone who lets untoward comments slide.
