Hyderabad: Husband Set His Wife on Fire Out of Suspicion In Nallakunta
Champion Opens to Mixed Talk, Registers Decent Day 1 Opening

Champion, which hit the screens recently amid considerable expectations, has opened to a mixed response from critics. Backed by a well-known production house and mounted on a respectable scale, the film enjoyed solid pre-release buzz. However, the final output appears to have divided opinions among audiences and reviewers alike.
Despite the mixed reviews, Champion has managed to post a fair opening at the box office. As per the makers, the film collected around Rs 4.5 crore gross on Day 1, which can be considered a decent start under the circumstances. The film is currently holding reasonably well in theatres across several key centres.
On the technical front, the production values stand out and add significant strength to the overall presentation. The songs have received a fair response and are working in parts, particularly in mass centres where they seem to be connecting better with the audience.
One of the film’s major advantages is its lead pair. Roshan’s performance and screen presence have drawn attention, and he manages to shoulder the film effectively during crucial moments. The heroine also adds value, and their on-screen pairing works to a certain extent.
With mixed talk in place, the coming days will be crucial for Champion. If the film manages to sustain its momentum over the weekend, it could settle into a stable and respectable run at the box office.
Samantha’s Career Crossroads: Can ‘Maa Inti Bangaram’ Turn the Tide?

Senior actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu finds herself at a crucial crossroads in her career, even as her personal life enjoys a fresh start following her second marriage to director Raj Nidumoru. After experimenting with diverse genres in recent years, she has struggled to replicate the success of her earlier hits.
Films like Shaakuntalam saw her attempt a glamorous avatar once again, but it didn’t click like her performances in Dookudu or S/o Satyamurthy. Later, she explored a comedic-villainous role in Subham, but that too failed to leave a lasting impression. These underperforming ventures sparked discussions about her career choices.
Now, Samantha is gearing up for Maa Inti Bangaram, her second production venture, where she will also play the lead. Early reports suggest the film will showcase her in saree-clad action sequences—chasing goons and wielding a gun. Her previous forays into action, such as the web series Citadel: Honey-Bunny, didn’t create much buzz, while her action in The Family Man 2 remains her only notable success in the genre.
With several senior heroines making strong comebacks—like Nayanthara and Trisha—others, including Kajal Aggarwal and Anushka Shetty, have struggled. The question now is whether Samantha’s latest action-packed venture can revive her career and place her back in the league of top actresses.
Vilaya Thandavam First Look: Karthik Raju in Fiery Avatar

Young hero Karthik Raju continues to chart his own course by backing content-rich scripts and unconventional narratives. Staying committed to that philosophy, he is now headlining the upcoming high-intensity action thriller Vilaya Thandavam, directed by VS Vasu. After the title poster created a decent buzz during Dasara, the makers have further amped up expectations by releasing the first look poster as a Christmas special.
The newly unveiled poster is strikingly intense and raw. Flames engulf the frame, charred remnants lie scattered around, and fire courses across the hero’s hand. With a bandaged head and a piercing, rage-filled stare, Karthik Raju appears in a fierce and commanding avatar, clearly hinting at a gritty character driven by anger, pain, and determination. The visual strongly indicates a film loaded with high-octane action backed by a solid emotional core.
The film features Parvathi Arun as the female lead, while Jagadeesh plays a key role. Marking Production No. 1 for GMR Movie Makers, the project is being produced by Mandala Dharma Rao and Gumpu Bhaskar Rao. Planned as a pan-India release, Vilaya Thandavam is currently progressing at a brisk pace on the sets. With this powerful first look setting the tone, audiences can expect many more intriguing updates from the team in the coming days.
Indian-Origin Man Dies After 8-Hour ER Wait in Edmonton Hospital

A 44-year-old Indian-origin man in Edmonton has died after allegedly waiting more than eight hours for medical treatment despite experiencing severe chest pain, raising concerns about emergency care delays at a local hospital.
Prashant Sreekumar, a father of three, was taken to Grey Nuns Hospital in southeast Edmonton on December 22 after developing sudden and intense chest pain while at work. According to his family, he described the pain as a “15 out of 10” and repeatedly expressed distress while waiting in the emergency department.
His father, Kumar Sreekumar, who arrived at the hospital shortly after, said Prashant was given Tylenol and an electrocardiogram (ECG) and was told that no major issue was detected. He was then asked to wait in the emergency room. During the prolonged wait, nurses periodically checked his blood pressure, which his family claims continued to rise significantly.
“My son kept telling me, ‘Papa, I cannot bear the pain,’” Kumar recalled, describing his growing alarm as his son’s condition appeared to worsen over the hours.
After more than eight hours, Prashant was finally called into the emergency room. Moments after sitting down, he reportedly clutched his chest and collapsed. Despite immediate efforts by medical staff, he could not be revived and died in front of his father.
Prashant is survived by his wife and three children, aged three, 10, and 14.
In a statement to Global News, the hospital expressed condolences to the family but declined to comment on the specifics of the care provided, citing patient privacy. A hospital spokesperson said patient safety and care remain their highest priorities.
A video circulating on social media features Prashant’s wife recounting the incident, alleging his blood pressure reached 210 and that he received only basic pain medication. These claims have not been independently verified by Business Today.
The incident has sparked public concern and renewed debate around emergency room wait times and triage procedures in Canada’s healthcare system.
Shambhala Wins Big: Content Drives Housefull Success from Day One

Strong content alone can turn a film into a winner, and Shambhala has once again proven this belief right. Released on December 25 amid stiff competition, the film opened to packed theatres and housefull boards from Day One. The overwhelming response prompted the makers to host a grand success celebration, filled with emotion, gratitude, and pride.
Veteran actor Sai Kumar expressed immense happiness over the film’s phenomenal reception, calling it a true people’s victory. Reflecting on his long cinematic journey, he said that hearing about continuous housefull shows brought back memories of his early career milestones. He credited director Ugandhar Muni for presenting a powerful, rooted story inspired by Sanatana Dharma, which has deeply connected with audiences. Sai Kumar also shared that he has been receiving nonstop calls saying, “Our Aadi has delivered a hit,” adding that this appreciation is the biggest reward for the entire team.
Lead actor Aadi Saikumar thanked the media, fans, and audiences for standing firmly by the film and turning it into a major success. He stated that despite releasing alongside multiple films, Shambhala stood tall purely on the strength of its content. With demand rising rapidly, the team is planning to add more theatres and shows, encouraging audiences to experience the film on the big screen during the festive season.
Director Ugandhar Muni described the journey of Shambhala as intense and challenging, revealing that post-production was completed just weeks before release. He said preview shows and media screenings boosted his confidence, as the response was overwhelmingly positive. Theatre visits further confirmed the buzz, with even the makers struggling to get tickets due to full houses everywhere. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the audience for embracing the film so wholeheartedly and praised Aadi Saikumar for his dedication and unwavering trust.
Producers Mahidhar Reddy and Rajashekhar Annabhimoju called the response beyond expectations, describing Shambhala as a blockbuster driven entirely by audience love. They highlighted the team’s relentless effort and courage in mounting the film on a grand scale and assured that shows would be increased wherever demand continues to soar.
Actors and technicians including Archana Iyer, Sri Charan Pakala, Indraneel, Madhu Nandan, Shiva Karthik, Rangaswamy, and Baby Chaitra echoed the same sentiment, stating that today’s audiences truly reward honest, content-driven cinema. Many shared that witnessing real-time audience reactions during theatre visits was an unforgettable and deeply fulfilling experience.
