Vishal Slams Awards in New Podcast
Tamil actor Vishal, who enjoys a strong fan base among Telugu audiences as well, has launched his own podcast titled Yours Frankly Vishal. Announcing it on Thursday via social media, the actor described the show as a platform for his “unfiltered and unscripted” thoughts — a space where he promises to speak nothing but the truth.
The first episode, released on Friday, has already sparked conversations. In it, Vishal made bold statements about film awards, saying, “I don’t believe in awards. Awards are bullsh*t. Eight people can’t decide what eight crore or eighty crore people like. This includes national awards too. It’s not because I didn’t get one — I just don’t believe in the concept itself. If someone gives me an award, I’ll throw it in the dustbin.”
This isn’t the first time Vishal has voiced such an opinion. Earlier, during an event in Chennai, he emphasized that true recognition comes from the audience. “With their blessings, I’ve sustained in the industry for years — that’s my biggest award,” he had said.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Vishal has taken over as director of his upcoming film Magudam following creative differences with filmmaker Ravi Arasu. The film, which marks the 35th project of his career, features Dushara Vijayan in a pivotal role.
On the personal side, Vishal got engaged to actress Sai Dhanshika on his birthday in August this year. The intimate ceremony in Chennai was attended by close friends and family, and the couple is expected to tie the knot soon.
