Germany Backs India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 Vision, Says Ambassador Philipp Ackermann
Hailing the strong ties between Germany and India, German Ambassador to India, Philipp Ackermann, on Friday said that both nations are working closely to further strengthen their bilateral relationship.
Speaking to IANS on the sidelines of the NDTV World Summit in New Delhi, Ackermann remarked, “On the Indo-German relations, I would say (they are) super well developed, but there’s still a lot of potential and we are trying together with the government here in Delhi and in Berlin to foster this and promote this relationship even further.”
Expressing support for India’s developmental vision, Ackermann praised the Viksit Bharat 2047 initiative, which aims to make India a developed nation by its 100th year of independence. “It’s an ambitious goal and an aim which I have the greatest respect for, and we, Germany, will try to help India wherever we can to reach that goal. It’s a very, very good vision of the government and we are happy to support it wherever we can,” he said.
Ackermann also lauded the NDTV World Summit, calling it one of the “big events in the Delhi media landscape.”
The remarks come weeks after German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, where he conveyed appreciation for India’s call for peace in the Ukraine conflict. “Our countries have taken good steps to expand our strategic partnership across the board, particularly in security and defence, economy and trade as well as skilled labour,” Wadephul said in a post on X following the meeting.
Wadephul also held discussions with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, with both sides agreeing to deepen cooperation in digital technologies, semiconductors, talent mobility, and industry linkages. Jaishankar appreciated Germany’s proactive push for closer India-EU relations and a swift conclusion of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
