K-Ramp Review: Energetic Timepass with Routine Humor

Share

Kiran Abbavaram went all out promoting K-Ramp, showing complete faith in the film’s content. The trailer grabbed attention with its youthful dialogues, raising curiosity among audiences. Let’s see how the film holds up on screen.

Plot Overview

Kumar (Kiran Abbavaram) is a rich kid who struggles academically. His father (Sai Kumar) secures him a seat in an engineering college in Kerala through the management quota. There, he falls for Mercy Joy (Yukti Thareja), a fellow student. Trouble arises when Kumar fails to meet Mercy at a crucial time, leading her to panic and attempt suicide. The story then unfolds around how Kumar navigates his relationship with a heroine suffering from PTSD, balancing fear, affection, and humor.

Performances

  • Kiran Abbavaram: Energetic and spirited, he portrays a wealthy, carefree student with a drinking habit. His styling and body language have improved, and he shines in the second half while handling his unpredictable girlfriend. Occasionally over-the-top, but noticeable growth is evident.
  • Yukti Thareja: Strikes a balance between glamour and authenticity, making her performance believable.
  • Sai Kumar: Adequate as the father, fitting the role comfortably.
  • Naresh & Muralidhar Goud: Both deliver solid performances. Naresh, as a flirtatious senior, adds humor effectively.
  • Vennela Kishore: Provides comic relief as Abbavaram’s Canada-returned friend.

Ajay & Vimala Raman: Brief but impactful appearances.

  • Technical Aspects
  • Music: Chaitan Bharadwaj delivers average tunes, with no particularly standout tracks.
  • Cinematography: Kerala’s picturesque locales are captured beautifully, giving the film a rich visual appeal.
  • Runtime: At 140 minutes, it’s reasonable for this genre, though a tighter edit could improve pacing.

Highlights

  • Kiran Abbavaram’s high-energy performance
  • Comedy sequences, particularly in the second half
  • Timepass entertainment moments

Drawbacks

  • Template-driven storyline
  • Cliched and predictable scenes
  • Lack of freshness in narrative treatment

Analysis

K-Ramp announces its lighthearted intentions from the outset, inviting audiences to enjoy its humor without overthinking. The first half follows a familiar formula: rich-but-academically-weak student, campus antics, casual romance, and fun with friends. A twist at the interval brings in a serious turn as the heroine’s PTSD becomes central to the plot.

The second half focuses on how Kumar manages Mercy’s unpredictable behavior, blending fear and affection with comedy. While the humor is largely routine, Vennela Kishore and VK Naresh add some genuine laughs. Some jokes venture into double-meaning territory, and a few moments feel cringeworthy—but the film often acknowledges its own excesses in a self-aware, fun way.

The film aims to be both youthful and massy. While it doesn’t break new ground, it delivers passable timepass entertainment. The first half may feel flat, but the second half improves with humor and character dynamics.

Verdict

Timepass Entertainment – K-Ramp is enjoyable if you’re looking for light-hearted fun, energetic performances, and occasional laughs, but don’t expect novelty or freshness.

Harish Rao alleges chaos and corruption in Telangana Cabinet

Share

Senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao on Friday accused the Telangana state Cabinet of descending into chaos, alleging that it is now split into two rival camps engaging in constant conflict. Speaking at a press conference, Harish Rao claimed the Cabinet had become a “group of dacoits intent on looting,” with members focused on commissions, land grabs, and pushing their allies into key government positions rather than governance. He likened the ministers to the Dandupalyam gang, referencing the infamous characters from the popular movie series.

Harish Rao highlighted severe infighting within the Cabinet, which he said has stalled state development. He cited allegations from a minister’s daughter, claiming that guns were being used to extort money from industrialists, and further alleging that the Chief Minister, while in Japan, blocked the movement of an official file. Another minister, she claimed, had ordered that tenders be denied to anyone associated with her mother.

Harish Rao urged the BJP-led central government to take note of these serious allegations and initiate an independent judicial probe into the Telangana Cabinet. He warned that if the BJP fails to act, it would suggest that the BJP and Congress are colluding in the looting, he added.

Nara Lokesh slams YCP over Google Vizag criticism

Share

Andhra Pradesh is celebrating a landmark achievement with the arrival of the Google data centre in Vizag, one of the state’s most significant investments. While the Telugu community has welcomed this development, the YSR Congress Party (YCP) has shown a polarized response.

Several YCP leaders have commented on the investment, but Sakshi media has been running programs criticizing and defaming the project, even airing prime-time shows portraying the Google investment in a negative light. These narratives have sparked strong reactions from the state’s IT Minister, Nara Lokesh.

Lokesh called out the YCP ecosystem and Chief Minister YS Jagan, accusing them of spreading fabricated narratives. “They preach development in speeches but oppose it in court, filing fake cases one after another. They spread lies in press conferences, pitting caste against caste, region against region. They spare no effort to stall Andhra Pradesh’s rise,” Lokesh tweeted.

He further emphasized that every project the YCP tries to block not only delays progress but also dampens the hopes of the youth seeking opportunities. “So I ask @ysjagan garu – why this hostility to progress? Why this hatred for the youth of Andhra Pradesh?” Lokesh questioned, expressing strong disapproval of the negative portrayal of the Google Centre in Vizag.

Thamma aims for Diwali box office success

Share

In the post-COVID era, theatre-going culture in North India has seen a steady decline. A lack of promising Hindi films that demand a theatrical experience, coupled with the rise of OTT platforms, has significantly impacted box office business in the region.

So far this year, only a few Hindi films like Chhaava, Stree 2, and Saiyaara have managed to make a mark, while major releases such as War 2, Sikandar, Sitaare Zameen Par, and Raid 2 have fallen short of expectations. Now, all attention is on Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s upcoming horror thriller, Thamma, set to release on October 21. Fans are eager to see if it can recreate the success of Maddock Films’ earlier horror hit, Stree 2.

Releasing during Diwali, one of Bollywood’s biggest business periods, Thamma benefits from minimal competition, giving it a significant advantage. The film is also part of Maddock’s Horror Cinematic Universe, which includes hits like Stree, Munjya, Bhediya, and Stree 2. Given the track record of these films, expectations for Thamma are high. If the film manages to generate positive word of mouth, it could dominate the box office and even surpass the collections of Stree 2, making it one of the standout Hindi releases of the year.

Dhruv Vikram’s Bison opens strong with positive reviews

Share

Bison, starring Dhruv Vikram, marks his much-awaited return to Tamil cinema after his previous two films underperformed at the box office. Directed by Maari Selvaraj, the film released during Diwali in Tamil Nadu and has already opened to a positive response, with strong bookings despite facing competition from other releases.

The film tells a gripping story of struggle, dignity, and survival in a society suffocated by caste violence and oppression. Inspired by the life of Kabaddi player Manathi Ganesan, it follows Kittan (Dhruv Vikram), a young man trapped in an endless cycle of hostility and revenge in rural Tamil Nadu.

While Bison follows some familiar sports drama tropes, Maari Selvaraj adds depth by focusing on caste realities, emotional suffocation, and quiet acts of rebellion, giving the narrative both emotional weight and sociopolitical resonance. Dhruv Vikram delivers a measured performance that shines, particularly in the film’s later sequences.

Given the positive reception in Tamil Nadu, the film is expected to resonate with Telugu audiences as well when it releases in the Telugu states. Fans are eagerly watching to see if Dhruv can now match the stature of his father, adding another chapter to his cinematic journey.

Dude opens strong with record ticket sales

Share

Dude, the latest film from Pradeep Ranganathan, known for hits like Love Today and Dragon, has made an impressive start at the box office. Written and directed by Keerthiswaran, the film released on Friday and immediately caught the audience’s attention.

On its opening day, Dude sold nearly 17,000 tickets per hour on Book My Show, one of India’s leading ticketing platforms. With the weekend and Diwali festival ahead, ticket sales are expected to grow even further, signaling strong audience interest. This opening outpaced the peak hourly ticket sales of several major releases this year, including Ajith Kumar’s Vidaa Muyarchi (15,370 tickets/hour), Dhanush’s Idli Kadai (~14,000 tickets/hour), Vijay Sethupathi’s Thalaivan Thalaivii (12,500 tickets/hour), and even Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam’s ThugLife (12,000 tickets/hour).

These numbers indicate that audiences are increasingly valuing engaging content over mere star power. Dude features a music score by Sai Abhyankar and is produced by Mythri Movie Makers. With the festival season in full swing, the film is set to maintain its momentum and could emerge as one of the year’s biggest hits.

Kantara Chapter 1 races past ₹700 crore, targets top spot of 2025

Share

Released earlier this month as a Dussehra special, Kantara: Chapter 1 arrived in cinemas amid sky-high expectations. While the pre-release buzz slightly dipped just before its debut, the film opened to a solid start and quickly proved its strength at the box office. Director and lead actor Rishab Shetty has once again delivered a massive blockbuster, silencing all doubts about the film’s performance.

Audiences across India have embraced Kantara: Chapter 1 with tremendous enthusiasm. In the Kannada version, the film has broken every existing box office record — even surpassing the lifetime collections of the original Kantara. It’s also performing exceptionally well in Telugu and Hindi markets, maintaining steady collections even into its third week, despite stiff competition from the Diwali releases.

According to the makers, Kantara: Chapter 1 has now grossed ₹717 crore worldwide, an extraordinary milestone by any standard. With this, the film has already overtaken Saiyaara’s ₹600 crore mark and is now inching closer to the year’s top grosser, Chhaava, which currently leads with around ₹800 crore.

All eyes are now on the film’s Diwali weekend performance, which could decide whether Kantara: Chapter 1 becomes the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025. With no major releases scheduled for the next couple. of months, Rishab Shetty’s magnum opus stands a strong chance of claiming that crown.

Telusu Kada opens slow with mixed response

Share

Telusu Kada — the much-awaited Telugu romantic comedy starring Siddhu Jonnalagadda, Raashi Khanna, and Srinidhi Shetty — hit theatres on October 17, 2025, but unfortunately opened to a slow start at the box office.

As per early trade reports, the film managed to collect around ₹2 crore net on Day 1, with an overall occupancy of 27.92% across the Telugu states. Interestingly, the night shows performed better, clocking close to 39% occupancy, hinting at decent word of mouth among a section of youth audiences.

Directed and written by Neeraja Kona, Telusu Kada is facing tough competition from simultaneous releases like Dude and K-Ramp, which have taken a chunk of the audience share.

The film has received mixed to negative reviews, with critics pointing out a weak and predictable script, especially in the second half, which dips in pace and engagement. However, Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s witty dialogues and Srinidhi Shetty’s composed performance have earned some praise. Despite these positives, reviewers felt that the strong performances couldn’t fully elevate the film from its uneven writing and sluggish execution.

Anupama Parameswaran dominates 2025 with record releases

Share

Guess which actress has ruled the release charts this year? It’s none other than the ever-charming Anupama Parameswaran. Among the current generation of popular heroines, she’s clearly the busiest, with six films already released in 2025 — and one more on the way before the year wraps up.

From the very beginning of the year, Anupama has maintained a non-stop streak. She started off with Dragon, followed by Parada and Kishkindhapuri, keeping her calendar packed and her fans entertained. Then came JSK (Janaki vs State of Kerala) and The Pet Detective, adding more variety to her impressive lineup. Her latest film, Bison, has just hit the big screens, continuing her momentum.

What makes her run even more remarkable is her versatility — she’s juggling projects across Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam industries, constantly staying in the spotlight.

And she isn’t done yet. Anupama is currently wrapping up another Tamil film, expected to release in December 2025. If that happens, she’ll officially set a new benchmark — the South Indian heroine with the highest number of releases in a single year.
