Microsoft Surface Duo 2 leaks reveal new triple camera system
Washington [US]: American tech giant Microsoft is planning a Surface Duo 2 for release later this year in September or October. Leaked images suggest that the dual-screen device will include a new triple camera system.
According to The Verge, the camera system on the Surface Duo 2 appears to be the main significant hardware change on this device. It’s rumoured to include a telephoto, ultrawide angle, and standard lens.
The leaked photos reveal a bump at the rear side of the device, just like many existing flagship Android phones. It also seems that Microsoft has moved its fingerprint reader into the power button on the Duo 2 and centred the USB-C port on the right-hand side.
The Surface Duo 2 is expected to have relatively minor design tweaks overall, with most of the significant changes appearing in the camera system and internal specs.
Rumours suggest the Surface Duo 2 will include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processor, 5G support, and an NFC chip for contactless payments. Microsoft might even slightly increase the size of each display on the Surface Duo 2, with slightly thinner bezels and options for both black and white colour variants.
The company appears to be sticking with separate screens on the Surface Duo 2, instead of opting for a truly foldable screen like Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3. This certainly means that all eyes will be on how well Microsoft improves the software side of the Surface Duo 2.
The original device has had a variety of software updates, but Android 11 still hasn’t appeared yet. As per The Verge, this left the Surface Duo as a buggy device, with regular issues of multitasking and gestures, screen turning off during book mode, and lockups using the fingerprint reader.
iPhone 14 Pro might sport a titanium body
Washington: Reports claim that American tech giant Apple is now planning to make its iPhone devices sturdier than ever before with a new titanium body for next year’s iPhone 14 pro models.
According to Mashable, a report by JP Morgan Chase suggests that Apple plans to equip the Pro models in its iPhone 14 line-up, likely coming next year, with a titanium alloy chassis.
This would be a first for the iPhone since previously Apple used aluminium and stainless steel for their devices. Titanium is harder and more resistant to scratches, more resistant to corrosion, and lighter than stainless steel.
However, titanium is harder to etch, and it’s quite prone to fingerprint marks. Apple reportedly has a fix for both of these issues. It will do so by using an oxide coating which should get rid of fingerprints, as well as a new blasting, etching and chemical process that should give titanium a glossier finish.
Notably, Apple does already use titanium for its Apple Watch Edition, which earlier used to have a ceramic case.
In other Apple-related rumours, reports suggest that the company plans to bring Face ID to basically all relevant devices, including all iPads, Macs, and the iPhone SE range.
Though there’s no clear timeline on this, it should eventually happen. This would hence also mean that notches on iPhones are here to stay, even though this year’s iPhone 13 is rumoured to come with a smaller notch than previous models.

TRS keeps its trust on troubleshooter for Huzurabad election!
The TRS party has taken the forthcoming Huzurabad by elections prestigiously and the ruling side wants to win the polls as its the sitting seat for the party. The Assembly constituency was left vacant after Etela Rajender resigned from his post.
It is said that with a strong motive of winning the by-election, KCR gave the responsibility of Huzurabad elections to Harish Rao along with B Vinod, ex MP.
Harish Rao, who enjoys a mass following among the rural voters had played a key role in TRS winning several key battles and thus he is known for taking care of such situations.
However, the Dubbaka by elections has made many heads turn with the BJP winning the seat despite Harish Rao being the TRS in-charge of Dubbaka.
Despite Harish Rao’s tactics taking a massive dive in the Dubbaka scenario, TRS and KCR opted for Harish Rao in the huge task of winning the sitting seat.
Harish Rao had earlier displayed his strong skills by bringing back two councillors who joined the BJP party in Dubbaka.
The TRS is confident of Harish Rao and hoping that he reaches the expectations on what the TRS wantes him to do. Let us wait and see how Harish Rao will tackle the situation.
Exclusive: Real story starts with interval episode in RRR Movie..?
Rajamouli’s RRR is in final leg of shoot and the unit is planning to film the remaining portion in under two months from now. Here is an interesting update on the film.
Apparently, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem, played by Ram Charan and Jr NTR respectively will not meet each other till the pre-interval episode.
Up until the interval block, the narrative runs around the individual journeys of the lead characters. The real journey starts after the two characters meet each other and embark on a larger-than-life mission.
It appears to be that Charan and Tarak will be seen in the same frame only midway through the film, which could come as a big surprise.
The interval episode will be a goosebumps-inducing one for the viewers and it will be in trademark Rajamouli style. The journey of the two lead characters will take the center stage after the interval block and this track will be an exhilarating one.
China denies imposing unofficial ban on commercial ships with Indian crew
BEIJING: China on Tuesday denied imposing an unofficial ban on commercial ships with Indian crew to berth in its ports, saying that Beijing has never imposed such restrictions and the reports were “not accurate”.
Asked about the reports of the unofficial ban, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian told a media briefing here that after consulting relevant departments, it has been found that China has never imposed such restrictions. “The relevant reports by the media are not accurate,” he said.
All India Seafarer & General Workers Union in a recent letter to Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal sought the Indian government’s help in saving the jobs of thousands of Indian seamen, as companies are not recruiting them for the China-bound ships.
The seamen’s body has claimed that as many as 20,000 seafarers are “home” because of this reason. The Union in its letter said, “From March 2021, any ship reaching China Port and having Indian seafarers as a crew on it, China government is not allowing all those ships to enter into the port.”
According to the Union, around 80 per cent of seafarers on various ships come from India, and “without them, the shipping industry will collapse and will be in big disaster”. Earlier, two commercial ships with Indian crews had to divert to ports in other countries for crew change as the vessels had to wait for months to get the anchorage in Chinese ports.
A ship named “Jag Anand” with 23 crew members, after a six-month-long wait to unload its Australian coal cargo, last year had to travel to a Japanese port to change the stranded crew following refusal by Chinese officials citing COVID-19 protocols.
Another ship named MV Anastasia with 16 Indian crew, carrying Australian coal, waited for months to deliver cargo to Caofeidian port in China.
UK PM Johnson warns against ‘premature conclusions’ as COVID cases fall
LONDON: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Tuesday urged continued caution as the daily COVID-19 infections have registered a drop over the past few days and warned against drawing “premature conclusions” about the course of the pandemic in the country.
The number of new COVID-19 infections in the UK fell for the sixth day in a row on Monday and now stands at 24,950.
However, this is more than 10 times higher than the levels seen in early May, with only a week having passed since legal lockdown restrictions were significantly lifted from most parts of the country.
“I’ve noticed, obviously, that we’re six days into some better figures. But it’s very, very important that we don’t allow ourselves to run away with premature conclusions about this,” said Johnson.
“Step 4 of the opening-up only took place a few days ago. People have got to remain very cautious, and that remains the approach of the government,” he said.
He was speaking to reporters on the first day of being out and about at the end of his 10-day self-isolation following contact by the health service to be warned of exposure to COVID-positive UK Health Secretary Sajid Javid.
Asked about the so-called “pingdemic” of people being pinged, or contacted on the phone, by the NHS Test and Trace service to send them into self-isolation, he said, “I totally understand that, particularly now as we’re starting to see some better figures.
“But I think everybody understands that this is still a very dangerous disease. We do need to use the tools that we have. Self-isolation is the one that we’ve got. I urge people to do it.”
The government has been forced to widen its list of essential workers who can use a test and release system to return to work if COVID negative after a rising number of people being forced into self-isolation were impacting businesses.
The system is set to come in force wider from August 16, but “until then, please could everybody stick with the programme,” Johnson urged.
Earlier, a senior government adviser and the expert behind the UK’s initial decision to lockdown in March last year told the BBC he was hopeful the worst of the pandemic would be over by October.
“The effect of vaccines is hugely reducing the risk of hospitalisations and death,” said epidemiologist Professor Neil Ferguson.
“And I’m positive that by late September or October time we will be looking back at most of the pandemic.
We will have COVID with us, we will still have people dying from COVID, but we’ll have put the bulk of the pandemic behind us,” he said.

MP Raghurama Raju sensational comments on AP CID chief
Rebel YSR Congress MP Raghu Rama Krishna Raju has strongly countered his rivals saying that the entire bail batch is working together to defeat him. The Narasapuram MP said he will lodge a complaint under Section 420 with comprehensive details at the appropriate time.
Mr Raju said that he has already complained against AP CID chief Sunil Kumar and said the truth will be revealed once the investigation is completed. The MP also said he would soon lodge a complaint with Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman against some YSRCP leaders.
“AP CID chief Sunil Kumar, who was booked under the Domestic Violence Act, was acting as an accomplice along with two other accused,” alleged Mr Raju. He said Sunil’s wife had filed a domestic violence case against the latter and mentioned that a charge sheet was registered against the CID chief.
On the other side, the YSR Congress MPs on Monday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging a fraudulent hawala transaction between MP Raju and TV5 chairman B R Naidu.
Thalapathy Vijay gets relief in Rolls Royce case
A single judge-bench of Madras high court imposing Rs 1 lakh fine on Tamil star hero Vijay had become a sensation a couple of weeks ago.
The single judge bench of Justice SM Subramaniam had criticised the actor and fined him when he appealed for the entry tax exemption on the import of a high-end car – a Rolls Royce Ghost.
Now, a two-judge bench of Justices M Duraiswamy and R Hemalatha has stayed the order passed by a single judge-bench, which was highly critical of the actor and allowed him to pay the entire tax amount.
Senior counsel Vijay Narayan, representing Vijay, said his client was ready to pay the entire tax amount but wanted the uncharitable remarks made by the single judge against the actor’s community at large to be cancelled. He asked to remove Justice Subramaniam’s harsh words against his client. The next hearing will be on August 31st.
