Suresh Babu Hints About Drushyam 2’s OTT Release
Venkatesh’s Narappa premiered on Amazon Prime Video a couple of days ago and it garnered a positive response from the audiences. The film is a Telugu remake of Asuran and it is bankrolled by Suresh Babu.
Now, Suresh Babu hinted about Venkatesh’s next outing, Drushyam 2.
“I personally am a fan of cinema theaters. I love watching films in cinema halls amid crowds. But the current situation pertaining to Covid outbreak has changed the scenario. OTT is the safer option for the time being. As things stand, my banner precedes OTT over theatrical release,” he said.
Well, Drushyam 2, which is produced by Suresh Babu is the only film that is ready for release. His latest comment that he prefers OTT over theaters might be an indication that this film will also premiere on OTT.
Not so long ago, it was said that Drushyam 2 will be premiering directly on Disney+Hotstar. An official announcement on the same is awaited for now.
Rajamouli Doing It For The First Time For Mahesh Babu
Rajamouli is busy with mega multi-starrer RRR now. The Ram Charan and Jr NTR starrer is nearing completion and the entire shoot is expected to be wrapped up in two successive schedules. The Europe schedule will be commencing by the end of this month and the subsequent schedule will be carried out in Hyderabad. The ace filmmaker will be collaborating with superstar Mahesh Babu once he is done with RRR and he opened up about the same later last year. Meanwhile, Vijayendra Prasad who provides the stories for Rajamouli’s films is exploring several avenues for the latter’s upcoming project with Mahesh Babu.
In an interview with Bollywood media portal, Vijayendra Prasad confirmed that he is indeed willing to explore African forest based action adventure subject with Rajamouli-Mahesh Babu project. He added that he is yet to lock the script and his main focus is on finalizing a backdrop for the story. The senior writer went on to state that the possibility of Rajamouli green signalling African forest based adventure are quite high.
Up until now, none of Rajamouli’s films were set out in foreign locations. He prefers to pick native backdrop for all his films. But as it turns out, he is set to explore Afriacan forests backdrop for his next with Mahesh Babu. This is the first real time he is trying to base his store on a foreign locality. He will be working with Rajamouli after he is done with the Trivikram directorial. He is ready to allot bulk dates for Rajamouli’s film. K L Narayana will be bankrolling Rajamouli-Mahesh Babu film and he is ready to spend big on the much hyped project. Needless today, this project will be mounted on a massive scale and it will be Mahesh’s maiden pan-India film.
Clubhouse opens to everyone, drops invite requirement
Washington: The audio social networking app Clubhouse is no longer exclusive. The platform has ditched its invite-only policy to grant everyone access to its audio chat rooms.
As per The Verge, the news was announced during Clubhouse’s Town Hall on Wednesday.
Co-founders Paul Davison and Rohan Seth announced on Wednesday that the app is no longer invite-only. Around 10 million people are currently on the waitlist, a spokesperson confirmed.
Users on the waitlist will slowly get added to the app in the coming weeks, while new users will automatically be able to sign up. Along with the news, Clubhouse showed off a new logo.
“The invite system has been an important part of our early history,” a blog post about the changes said.
“By adding people in waves, welcoming new faces each week in our Wednesday Orientations, and talking with the community each Sunday in Town Hall, we’ve been able to grow Clubhouse in a measured way, and keep things from breaking as we’ve scaled,” the blog post further read.
This change comes only a week after Clubhouse launched its DM product called Backchannel, which the team said saw 10 million messages sent within the first day of launch, and more than 90 million over the first week.
Of course, the application opening up comes amid increasing competition. As Clubhouse built out its product and acquired a waitlist, other social audio products, like Twitter Spaces, opened to everyone.
Since its iOS-only launch in April 2020, the app has expanded to Android and has launched some new features.
Twitter named officials as contingent plan after non-compliance with IT Rules: MoS IT
New Delhi: Twitter was non-compliant with the IT rules on May 26 when the new regulations came into effect but the microblogging platform has subsequently appointed a chief compliance officer and a resident grievance officer as a contingent arrangement, Parliament was informed on Thursday.
Twitter has also informed the IT Ministry about its physical contact address in India, and has published a compliance report for June 2021, Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
Chandrasekhar also said the statement made by Twitter earlier in May expressing concerns over potential threat to freedom of expression and staff safety was possibly an effort to divert attention from its non-compliance to IT Rules and Indian laws at that stage.
The Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 notified on February 25, 2021 have become fully effective from May 26, 2021, including for additional due diligence to be followed by Significant Social Media Intermediaries (SSMIs), he said.
“On that day, Twitter was non-compliant. Subsequently, they have appointed Chief Compliance Officer and a Resident Grievance Officer as a contingent arrangement and have also informed the Ministry about physical contact address in India. They have also published the compliance report of June 2021,” he said.
The minister went on to add that major digital platforms, including Facebook, Google, Twitter, LinkedIn and WhatsApp, have informed this ministry regarding appointment of chief compliance officer, nodal contact person and resident grievance officer as well as their physical contact addresses in India.
They have also started publishing a monthly compliance report, he informed the Upper House.
“In case of non-compliance with the Rules, the intermediaries including SSMIs shall lose their exemption from liability under section 79 of IT Act and rule 7 of the above said Rules becomes applicable,” Chandrasekhar said.
On a question about Twitter’s statement on May 27 airing concerns over potential threat to freedom of expression and safety of its employees in India, Chandrasekhar asserted that freedom of speech and expression is a constitutionally guaranteed Fundamental Right and the company’s statement was “possibly an effort to divert the attention” from the non-compliance to the Information Technology rules.
“The statement of Twitter was possibly an effort to divert the attention from the non-compliance to the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 and Indian laws at that stage,” he said.
The minister emphasised that the government is committed to the growth of a vibrant technology and internet ecosystem in the country.
“Government has also assured that representatives of social media platforms, including Twitter, remain safe in India and there is no threat to their personal safety and security,” he pointed out.
To another question on whether the government would reconsider the guidelines that suggest indirectly the breaking of end-to-end encryption of messages, Chandrasekhar said the rules “do not seek breaking the end-to-end encryption”.
Neither the IT Act nor the new social media rules contravene freedom of speech and expression or right to privacy, he added.

HONG KONG: Hong Kong police on Thursday arrested five trade union members over children’s books they described as seditious, and a court denied bail for four editors and journalists held on charges of endangering national security, as part of a widening crackdown on dissent in the city.
The five who were arrested are members of the General Association of Hong Kong Speech Therapists, according to local media reports.
The association published three children’s books that Li Kwai-wah, a senior superintendent of the national security department, said have seditious intent.
The books feature stories that revolve around a village of sheep that has to deal with wolves from a different village.
The sheep take action like going on strike or escaping by boat, according to the synopses published on the association’s website.
Li said that the stories referenced the 12 Hong Kong activists who were arrested at sea while trying to flee the city, after most of them were charged in connection with massive anti-government protests in 2019.
There was also a story about wolves who are “cruel and try to occupy the area” where the sheep live, and try to kill them, Li said.
“Of course, when we prosecute the case, we are not the one to prove that these materials have actually caused the inciting to others,” said Li.
“And the children, maybe because of the information inside….can turn their mind and develop a moral standard against the society.
The 2019 rallies calling for more civil rights and universal suffrage shook Hong Kong for months, often descending into violence between police and protesters.
Beijing responded last year with a sweeping national security law that critics say restricts freedoms promised to the former British colony that are not found on mainland China.
The publishing of such books “brings hatred against the government and administration of justice, and (incites) violence to others,” Li said.

On Thursday, a Hong Kong court denied bail to four top editors and journalists from the now-defunct Apple Daily pro-democracy newspaper.
They were arrested Wednesday on charges of conspiracy to collude with foreign powers to endanger national security.
So far, eight former employees have been arrested.
Apply Daily ceased operations in June after USD 2.3 million in assets were frozen and police raided the newspaper’s offices, confiscating hard drives and laptops.
The national security law criminalizes secessionism, subversion, terrorism and foreign collusion in the city’s affairs.
Since it was implemented, more than 100 pro-democracy supporters have been arrested and many others have fled abroad.
WHO warns of ‘long term’ impact of COVID-19 on mental health
ATHENS: The mental health impact of the pandemic will be “long-term and far-reaching”, the World Health Organization said Thursday, as experts and leaders called for action on COVID-linked anxiety and stress. “Everyone is affected in one way or another,” the WHO said in a statement at the start of a two-day meeting in Athens with health ministers from dozens of countries.
It said “anxieties around virus transmission, the psychological impact of lockdowns and self-isolation” had contributed to a mental health crisis, along with stresses linked to unemployment, financial worries and social alienation. “The mental health impacts of the pandemic will be long term and far-reaching,” the statement added.
The WHO’s regional director for Europe Hans Kluge said mental health should be considered a “fundamental human right”, stressing how the virus had torn lives apart. “The pandemic has shaken the world. More than four million lives lost globally, livelihoods ruined, families and communities forced apart, businesses bankrupted, and people deprived of opportunities,” he told the conference.
The WHO called for the strengthening of mental health services in general and the improvement of access to care via technology. It also urged better psychological support services in schools, universities, workplaces and for people on the front line of the fight against COVID-19.
The ministers heard from a 38-year-old Greek woman called Katerina who told them how she had been receiving treatment for a psychiatric disorder since 2002 and had been coping well until the pandemic hit. She was no longer able to attend in-person support groups and could not see her father, forcing her to boost her treatment. “The pressure of social isolation led to increased anxiety,” she said.

We earlier reported that a woman volunteer named Sivasri, who approached Pawan Kalyan for justice, was summoned by the police for questioning.

Ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli is currently working on the eagerly awaited pan-India biggie RRR. We know the director had brought up the theme of reincarnation or rebirth for his films, Magadheera and Eega. Now, if the reports are believed, he is doing the same with RRR as well.
The latest reports suggest that RRR is a reincarnation tale of Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju, the two legendary freedom fighters from the Telugu states.
