TRS leader D Sanjay returns to Congress fold, promises to bring back past glory of party
HYDERABAD: TRS leader D Sanjay decided to return to the Congress fold on Tuesday. The announcement was made in the presence of TPCC president and MP A Revanth Reddy at his residence. Sanjay is the brother of Dharmapuri Arvind, the BJP leader and Nizamabad MP.
The former Mayor of Nizamabad will be returning to the party where his father, D Srinivas, was a senior leader for almost four decades and a three-time party MLA before he joined the TRS.
“I remained attached with the Congress ever since childhood. As my father joined the TRS, I had to join. TRS is a party where there is no recognition even for the district president. I shall be strengthening the Congress leadership under Revanth. I will work to bring back the past glory of the Congress and will be joining the party in the presence of senior leaders after visiting Delhi,” he said.
Meanwhile, former MLA from Jadcherla Erra Shekhar, who on Tuesday resigned as the BJP’s Mahbunagar district president and from the party’s primary membership, also announced his intention to join the Congress. Before joining the BJP, he was with the TDP. Former TDP leader Gandra Satyanarayana, who contested the Bhupalpally Assembly seat in 2018 as an independent candidate, will also be officially joining the party.

Telangana Congress leader P Kaushik Reddy quits party after audio leak
HYDERABAD: Congress leader P Kaushik Reddy, in-charge of Huzurabad constituency, who contested against Eatala Rajender in 2018, resigned on Monday after a leaked audio conversation flung him into a controversy. A close aide of former TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, Kaushik can be heard telling a TRS leader Vijender that the TRS was certain to give him the ticket for the Huzurabad byelection.
The audio of the alleged phone conversation also has Kaushik telling Vijender to mobilise youth to campaign for the TRS by offering them Rs 3,000-5,000. “Prepare the list of youth and immediately forward it to me. I will also take care of you. Bollam Rajireddy will call you,” he says in the call, which was obviously recorded.
Within hours of the audio going viral on social media, the TPCC Disciplinary Action Committee issued a show-cause notice to Kaushik. However, the Huzurabad leader decided not to respond to the show-cause notice and sent in his resignation instead.
Earlier, Kaushik raised eyebrows when he was spotted with IT Minister KT Rama Rao at a few functions, following Eatala Rajender’s resignation. Chairman of the TPCC Disciplinary Action Committee, M Kodanda Reddy, demanded an explanation from Kaushik Reddy within 24-hours over his alleged conversation with the TRS partyman. He was also asked to explain his anti-Congress activities.
Kaushik chose to do away with the explanations and sent his resignation to AICC chief Sonia Gandhi. Disclosing this at a press conference, he questioned the high command’s decision to elevate Revanth Reddy as TPCC president.
He alleged that Revanth paid Rs 50 crore to party Telangana in-charge Manickam Tagore. He also alleged that it was Revanth who was a covert because he was working for the TDP.
Reacting to this, Uttam, who is in Bengaluru, condemned his allegations and held that it was only because of the party’s decision to field him from Huzurabad in 2018 that Kaushik Reddy gained some recognition. “I condemn the allegations made against Revanth and Tagore,” Uttam said.
Meanwhile Revanth, who vowed to weed out all the “coverts”, tweeted. “A thief defends the loudest when caught” [SIC] and added by tagging @TelanganaCMO “coverts and covert operations will not be spared anymore”.

Prakasam TDP MlAs Put Chameleon To Shame In Changing Stance
The flip-flop by the three TDP MLAs from Prakasam district is now the talk of the town. The three MLAs – Gottipati Ravikumar, Dola Bala Veerajaneya Swamy and Eluru Sambasiva Rao – have changed their stance on the Rayalaseema lift irrigation scheme within 24 hours. Initially they said that the RLS would hit the interests of Prakasam district. They had even written a letter to YS Jagan on this issue. Now they are saying that they did not intend to oppose the RLS at all.
On Sunday, their letter to YS Jagan said that Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation scheme would completely affect the irrigation system in Prakasam district. They staunchly opposed the project. On Monday, they said that they did not object to the RLS but were worried about the fate of Prakasam district. They sought to know what the Jagan government was doing to protect Prakasam district’s interests.
Why did they change their stance within a matter of just 24 hours? Why are they denying what they have said in the letter? Sources say that the TDP was alarmed by the backlash from Rayalaseema districts. It felt that the MLAs’ letter could sound death-knell for the TDP in the Seema region. Hence, the party leadership immediately asked them to make amends and issue another statement.
The RLS, which diverts Krishna water, will irrigate lakhs of acres of land in the Rayalaseema region. This would be hugely beneficial to the region. Opposing this would send wrong signals, the TDP felt. Hence, the party leadership asked Gottipati Ravikumar, Dola Bala Veerajaneya Swamy and Eluru Sambasiva Rao to issue a clarification to clear the ‘misunderstanding.’ As a result, the MLAs had to change their stance and say that they were not opposed to the RLS.
The TDP was accused of speaking in three different voices on the RLS. While the Telangana unit talked of Telangana interests to oppose the RLS, the seema TDP politicos are silent about the project as they can neither oppose nor support it. The Prakasam district TDP opposed the RLS saying it would affect their district. Now, in a course correction, the party’s Prakasam MLAs have changed the tone and tenor of their criticism.

Chandrababu Doesn’t Care, Ys Jagan Doesn’t Want This Seasoned Politician
Every good thing has to end. It appears the illustrious political career of one of the longest serving politicians – Ganta Srinivasa Rao – too is hitting a dead-end. His options are diminishing by each passing day. Today, no party seems to want him anymore.
Ganta, who began his political career way back in1999, has not tasted defeat so far. Despite the anti-TDP wave, he managed to scrape through in the 2019 elections. Not just that. He was a minister for seven long years. But, now things appear to be changing for the worse. For the past one year, Ganta has been unusually silent. He has not met the media or has not done anything big bang. Nobody seems to know what he is doing.
Sources say that he may not contest the 2024 elections. There are rumours that Nara Lokesh will contest from Bhimili North in 2024. This means Ganta will be left without a constituency in 2024. In fact, Chandrababu had asked him to contest for the Lok Sabha in 2019 elections. But, this time around, even that seems to be a remote possibility.
Ganta’s biggest problem is not Lokesh planning to contest from Bhimili. The real problem is that Lokesh and Chandrababu are giving more importance to Ganta’s arch rival Ayyanna Patrudu, former MP MVVS Murthy’s son Bharat and Kidari Sravan. This is not to the liking of Ganta. He surely knows that he needs Lokesh Babu’s patronage to rise in the TDP.
Many of Ganta’s close associates and followers have already joined the YSRCP. However, he is not able to gain entrance into the YSRCP. Though he had made several attempts to sneak into the YSRCP, people of the statue of Vijaysai Reddy are opposed to his entry into the party. So, the issue has been lying pending for the past two years.
Sources say that he would be close to 64 by 2024 elections. Hence 2024 elections would be the last big chance for Ganta in politics. Let’s wait and see if this would be the last chance or lost chance for this plucky surviver.
SR Kalyanamandapam locks its theatrical release date
The makers of Kiran Abbavaram and Priyanka Jawalkar starrer SR Kalyanamandapam has announced that the film will hit screens on 6th August. Although a few noted actors opting for direct OTT release considering the pandemic situation, the budding actors are ready to take risks.
As per reports, SR Kalyanamandapam did excellent business in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Given the craze of its music and teaser, the theatrical rights alone fetched around Rs 4.5 cr.
SR Kalyanamandapam marks the second film of Kiran Abbavaram. Touted to be a family entertainer set against a Rayalaseema backdrop, the film has been directed by Sridhar Gade and produced by Pramod and Raju under the banner of Elite Entertainments.
It has Chaitan Bhardwaj’s music. Priyanka Jawalkar is the female lead. The cast includes Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani and Tulasi among a few others.
