Defamation Row: Rahul Gandhi Arrives at the Magistrate Court

It is known that a criminal defamation case was registered against former Congress supremo, Wayanad Parliamentarian Rahul Gandhi for passing objectionable comments on Modi Surname.

In connection with the lawsuit, Rahul Gandhi appeared before a magistrate’s court in Surat city of Gujarat to record his statement going by the directives of the Magistrate Judge.

A case against the Gandhi scion was filed by Purnesh Modi, BJP’s Surat West MLA, who found fault with the MP, who was believed to have said that thieves have one thing in common, the Modi surname.

Rahul Gandhi made these comments reportedly at an election rally back in 2019. The BJP MLA filed a defamation case against the MP. He appeared before a court and said he is not guilty in the case.

The hearings in the magistrate’s court had begun earlier today and more details are awaited.

‘Water thieves’ comment directed at AP rulers, not citizens, clarifies Vemula

HYDERABAD: A day after describing former Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekhara Reddy as a ‘water thief’ and the current CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy a ‘bigger thief,’ Roads and Buildings Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy said that he stands by the comments he made in Mahbubnagar. The Minister, however, clarified that his comments were not directed at the people of Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, but at the rulers of AP who had illegally diverted Krishna waters from Telangana in the past as well as those who still continue to do so.

Addressing the media, Prashanth Reddy said that his comments were also directed at AP government’s Chief Whip G Srikanth Reddy, MLA Roja, MLA Ravindranath Reddy and AP BJP president Somu Veerraju. Standing by his comments in which he described late YSR as a rakshasa (demon) and a ‘thief,’ who illegally diverted Krishna waters to Andhra region, he wondered what Jagan must be called for repeating the same.

He raised serious objections to AP government’s efforts to divert 9.12 tmc of water every day from Srisailam through Pothireddipadu and Muchumarri lift irrigation schemes by illegally constructing new projects without obtaining necessary permissions.

While appealing to the AP government to follow the National Green Tribunal’s stay orders and to stop the construction of these projects, he clarified that the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and Dindi projects were both sanctioned during the united AP rule , which was why Telangana was going ahead with it.He asserted that the State would wage a movement against the Centre if it fails to resolve the water-sharing issues between the two Telugu States.

Stating that both the States need to approach the Centre and Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal to get the issue resolved, he said the responsibility was on AP BJP unit chief Somu Veerraju and his Telangana counterpart Bandi Sanjay Kumar for facilitating the same. In the meantime, works on RDS right canal and Rayalaseema lift irrigation scheme have to stop, he demanded.

WARANGAL: Continuing his tirade against Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, BJP leader and former minister Eatala Rajender, on Wednesday, alleged that the TRS president will go to any extent to win elections and that the former is now focused on hatching a plan to “purchase” maximum number of votes in the ensuing Huzurabad bypoll.

Slamming the TRS leaders for their cheap strategies, Rajender said that the people of Huzurabad will teach KCR a befitting lesson.

He was addressing the BJP activists, at Kamalapur. Asserting that the people of Huzurabad want him to win the bypoll, Rajender alleged that the TRS leadership, since already aware about this trend, is going all out to purchase the leaders of communal organisations and public representatives.

Ec Declares Former Union Minister Disqualified From Running Polls For Three Years

Finding fault with the candidate, who has not submitted the details of the election expenses, the Election Commission had disqualified a former Union Minister from contesting elections of any level for the next three years.

The Election body declared former Union Minister Balaram Naik Porika disqualified from running the elections for three years on the grounds of not submitting the details of the election expenses.

In the Gazette notification, the Election Commission said that the former Union Minister didn’t submit the election expenses details and this is why he was declared disqualified from going to the polls for three years.

The disqualification applies across the country and he cannot run for the elections across the levels like-Rajya Sabha, Legislative Council, Assembly, and others for a period of three years.

Balaram Naik Porika contested the 2019 elections from the Mahabubabad Lok Sabha in Telangana and lost the elections. The constituency is an ST reserved constituency.

On the flipside, Balaram Naik maintained that he had submitted all the required documents concerning the election purpose. He said the papers would be submitted to the concerned officials soon.

AP CM YS Jagan responds to Chiranjeevi’s tweet

Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has thanked actor and former Union Minister Chiranjeevi for the latter’s recent tweet praising the AP government over vaccinating 13 lakh plus people in a single day.

Taking to Twitter, Chiranjeevi congratulated Chief Minister Jagan on the rare feat and also hailed the latter’s inspiring leadership.

Now, the AP CM has responded to Chiranjeevi’s tweet on Twitter. YS Jagan thanked the veteran actor on behalf of the AP government. He said the government had worked hard to ensure that a record number of vaccinations were carried out in a single day in the state.

CM Jagan said the vaccination drive was a success with the cooperation of village volunteers, ANMs, ASHA workers, doctors, Manal and district officials, joint collectors and collectors.

Now, Amazon Prime is apparently lining up an interesting project with noted Tollywood actress Tamannaah. The milky beauty has stuck a big-money deal with the digital streaming platform.

Amazon Prime will be funding a multi-lingual project featuring Tamannaah. Anurima Sharma will be directing the project and filming will commence in the latter half of 2021.

Tamannaah is eager to take up more assignments pertaining to web entertainment and she is in talks with a couple of OTT platforms. She is hoping to make it big with Amazon Prime’s as-yet-untitled series.
