CM Jagan to Piyush: Give Vijayawada lands to poor families
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has urged Union Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal to take steps for giving the railway lands in Vijayawada city, on which nearly 800 poor families are living, in exchange of government land at a suitable place within the city.
In a letter to the Union Minister, Jagan said 800 poor families were living in houses that they have built in the railway lands in Raja Rajeswari Peta area of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC). “These poor residents have been living for more than 30 years in the same area and have made several representations to the government to regularise the encroachments. No meaningful effort had been made in the past to resolve the issue,’’ the Chief Minister pointed out.
Jagan said as the lands encroached upon by the poor families belong to the railways, and keeping in view of the long nature of encroachments, it is proposed to offer suitable government land to railways as part of exchange in lieu of the encroached land. The Chief Minister also pointed out that the railways has not put the land to any use for more than 30 years.
“The land identified by the State government to be given to Railways is very suitable and is also located within the limits of the VMC. More so, the land offered in exchange is of equal value. Both the encroached land and land proposed in exchange is of equal value,’’ Jagan said and added that both the encroached land and land proposed for exchange were inspected by the joint team of Railways and revenue.
“The railway officers had expressed their opinion to the district collector that encroached land is of little use and they would be in better position to utilise the proposed land which is located adjacent to 25 acres of railway land in Ajit Singh Nagar,’’ the Chief Minister said.
Janhvi discloses why she chose ‘Roohi’
Janhvi Kapoor will be featured as a lady possessed by a devil in the upcoming horror comedy, Roohi, alongside Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma. The actress who has a slew of films underway, has recently winded up ‘Good Luck jerry’ in Chandigarh. Janhvi has occassionally shared the updates related to Roohi. Portraying an unusual role, she seem to be pinning on all her hopes on this film.
In a recent interview, Janhavi opened up about criticism faced in the early stages of her career that she was not upto the mark in Dhadak. The actress iterated the reason why she chose Roohi. She said she wanted to bag a challenging role to dispel such talk and prove her acting prowess.
In Roohi, Janhvi Kapoor says she surrendered herself to the two contrasting roles. There were scenes where she had to essay both in the same take and she really relished it. She said the she didn’t hesitate any moment to look scary in the flick.
On questioning about the interaction and competition among her contemporaries, the actress wisely said there is a healthy competition but media and industry makes it appear ill-disposed. While speaking in comparison to actors like Ananya Pandey and Sara Ali Khan, Janhvi said she would never be envious or reluctant to appreciate her fellow actors.

To Protest Against High Fuel Prices, WB CM Rides Pillion On Electric Scooter
The constant rise in fuel prices and cooking gas has been increasing the difficulties for the poor and middle class in the country. Petrol has passed the century mark in several states, while the cooking gas prices have increased by more than 20 rupees.
As a bid to protest against the rising fuel prices, All India Trinamool Congress(AITC) supremo, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee rode pillion on an electric vehicle.
The Chief Minister reached state secretariat Nabanna on the electric vehicle, while state minister and Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim rode the vehicle.
In the viral picture, Mamata Banerjee aka Didi can be seen wearing a helmet holding a placard. She traveled five kilometers on the electric vehicle with a placard around her neck.
She said she had opted for an electric vehicle as an alternative mode of transport as the fuel prices have been increasing.
Didi accused the Narendra Modi government of looting the common man by increasing the prices of fuel prices and gas cylinders. Is this why you came to the power, she questioned.
The way the prices of petrol, diesel, and gas are increasing is an area of concern. Gas cylinders’ price has increased to 800 now. Kerosene oil is not available now, Mamata Banarjee added.
Priya Varrier says she will never miss a chance to work with this Telugu star hero
Priya Prakash Varrier is pinning high hopes on her maiden straight Telugu film, Check which will be out in theatres tomorrow, February 26th. She is playing Nithiin‘s love interest in the suspense thriller.
In her latest interaction with media, Priya revealed her long-standing aspiration and future choices.
“Of late, there have been rumors that I received an offer to work with Allu Arjun in one of his upcoming films and I turned down the proposal. There is no truth in these reports. Allu Arjun is one of the widely followed Telugu actors in Kerala and I myself am a big fan of his. I would never miss an opportunity to work with him, regardless of my prior commitments,” she said.
Speaking about Check, Priya said the film is packed with suspenseful and thrilling episodes which will keep the viewers hooked right from the word go.
Check has Nithiin, Rakul Preet Singh, and Priya Varrier in the lead roles. Chandra Sekhar Yeleti directed the project and Bhavya Anand Prasad produced it.

Popular Bengali actress Payel Sarkar wears saffron shawl
The political parties in poll-bound West Bengal have been welcoming stars from entertainment and cricket fields. Ruling Trinamool Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) witnessed fresh inductions into the party.
Payel Sarkar, who appears in Bengali films and Hindi television has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of the West Bengal state BJP president Dilip Ghosh.
Earlier, Bengali actor Yash Dasgupta has joined the saffron party. The actor was inducted into the party in the presence of West Bengal BJP in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya, national vice-president Mukul Roy, and Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta.
On the other hand, Cricketer Manoj Tiwari, and actors June Malliah, Sayoni Ghosh, Kanchan Mallick have joined the ruling TMC party at a political event.
Looking at the BJP, it’s the party’s strategy to welcome celebrities from various fields and give them party tickets. Gautam Gambhir, Bollywood actor Sunny Deol and others are examples of this.
Will the same strategy work for the BJP and ruling TMC in the forthcoming elections. Well, only time has the answer to this. Let us wait and see what happens with West Bengal.
‘Acharya’ Being Made At Full Speed To Reach The Target!
The makers of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film ‘Acharya’ have announced that it is getting released on 9th May 2021. The film was postponed several times and fans are waiting for it from a really long time. With the release time being just a couple of months away, Koratala Siva and his team are working at full speed to reach the target.
As we know, Ram Charan is playing a key role in this film and Kajal is the heroine. The combination scenes between Chiru and Charan are being canned in the Maredumilli area near Rajahmundry. Recently, the film’s cinematographer Thirunavukarasu posted a picture from the sets of ‘Acharya’ where he is completely immersed in getting the perfect shot. He wrote, “#Acharya is in full throttle. Thanking the cast and crew for their continuous support.”
Considering Koratala’s track record, everyone is expecting a blockbuster and the teaser which came out a couple of weeks back got a decent response. The visuals by Thiru were extraordinary and Chiru is going to be seen as a Naxalite in this flick. Mani Sharma is composing music for this social drama.
I Was Awestruck By The Climax Twist Of ‘Check’ : Nithiin!
Hero Nithiin is a very busy man these days with all the shootings and promotions. He is coming up with three films in the first of 2021 itself which is making his fans very excited. The first release from him this year is going to be ‘Check’ directed by Chandrasekhar Yeleti. This film is hitting the screens this Friday.
During the promotions, Nithiin claims that he is in Tollywood from the past 19 years and was always looking for something unique. He always wanted to play a never seen before role. He says that the climax twist is going to be the biggest asset for ‘Check’ and it is going to make you awestruck. He added, “I really loved the script narrated by Chandrasekhar Yeleti and was awestruck by the climax twist. I’m sure that, the climax will blow your (audience) minds.”
Singing praises on music director Kalyani Malik’s work, he quoted, “The film has only one song and it needs outstanding background score to take the narration to next level. Kalyani Malik did a wonderful job and everyone will appreciate his work, after release of the film.”
Apart from ‘Check’, Nithiin is coming with ‘Rang De’ on 26th March and his ‘Andhadhun’ remake under Merlapaka Gandhi’s direction will be arriving in June as announced. After these two, he will be working on ‘Power Petta’ which is a two-part series that is going to go on floors from May.

With an eye on MLC polls, Telangana BJP leader Chugh to tour Nagarjunasagar
HYDERABAD: In view of ensuing Graduate MLC elections and Nagarjunasagar byelection, the BJP State office bearers’ meeting was held on Wednesday.The party reviewed programmes held in recent times. BJP State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, State in-charge Tarun Chugh, MoS Kishan Reddy, Dr K Laxman, DK Aruna and P Muralidhar Rao also attended the meeting. It was decided in the meeting that Tarun Chugh would tour the Nagarjunasagar constituency to take stock of the ground level situation.
Conveying the crux of the meeting, BJP State general secretary Pradeep Kumar said all the concerned leaders were asked to get ready for the upcoming election. He said BJP was not just asking for votes but collecting comprehensive information including age, education, eligibility for unemployment allowance and so on in an organised manner.
He said the party had been receiving information from the cadres that BJP was getting a good response from the voters. He said the leaders who spoke in the meeting exuded confidence in BJP contestants winning the ensuing elections.
